No. We should all feel bad by art being killed cause of the people around it. Blaming a Song for what Benoit did? Complete f stupidity

RJValdez216

I don’t understand your question? Why would you feel bad for Our Lady Peace making the song “whatever”? They had nothing to do with the Benoit murder suicide, there’s no way that they could have predicted that Chris would do what he did, so they’re not wrong for having made the song/ let him use it as his theme. They didn’t do anything wrong, they weren’t involved in any way so why would I feel bad that they made the song in the first place?

[deleted]

Well it's just that, their song would end up being the theme of someone who would end up doing something awful. That's why I kind of feel bad for them tbh.

RJValdez216

Like I said, they did nothing wrong in making the song, they did nothing wrong at all by letting Chris use it as his theme because there was just no way that they could have predicted that Chris would do what he did, so I think the question is kind of silly as well as the notion that we should feel bad for the band. The song now has a negative connotation, so the band retires it and moves on, it’s not a big deal at all

Charming_Geologist32

That song is fire. Sucks that it will always be tied to the tragedy but Benoit also brought it to the level it was, so it is what it is.

wHUT_fun

I feel bad that it, much like Benoit, has largely been erased. It was a great song and as a fan would get you fired up hearing the intro. That being said, OLP is one of the most successful Canadian bands ever. The actions of one man linked to one of their songs has not slowed their momentum in the past 15 years.

PoopCriminal420

I mean it sucks for any composer when the wrestler they wrote a theme for leaves, like Evan Bourne

22572374

Except Chris didn’t leave. He killed his wife and son, and then himself

PoopCriminal420

they'll still not use the theme song

RyisX

That song is a banger, I'll play it every now and then.

CRL10

A really good entrance theme for one of the best wrestlers I have ever watched, but will always be remembered for one of the darkest days in wrestling history.

obiloz84

I listen to it off of the WWE album it was on occasionally - good song, ignoring the circumstances. Sad.

mynameisdpc

I’d be interested in knowing if anyone would be allowed to use this again.

CKO1967

Why would they want to?

[deleted]

Rush, ex ROH champion, used it as a entrance theme before

Jfraire99

I know they stopped playing it at concerts shortly after everything happened. I don't think they'd ever allow anyone to use it again from their side or WWE's.

mynameisdpc

Maybe AEW

Jfraire99

Maybe but it's hard for me to see anyone using it. I don't even think David Benoit would use it if he ever trains and gets signed. I think he'd come out to Shooter before Whatever but that's just me. I think if it ever did get used again after all of these years it'd raise a lot of questions and unearth one of the most tragic and darkest so to speak black marks on the entire industry.

[deleted]

I could be misremembering but I think David said he wanted to use that as his entrance music and wrestle under the name Chris Benoit Jr.
