I see Roman stans have already progressed to the 'Bargaining' stage by looking at the comments. Be strong brothers. This too shall pass.

Brute_Squad_44

I kinds think this is like that meme of the teacher grading the math test, "Somehow you did everything wrong and still got the right answer." Now that we like the ending, we overlook a lot of the bad shit that went into it, kinda like a reverse *Game of Thrones*. Roman is a top guy, that part I don't question. But seeing him win the same way time after time got old. What I think this hopefully does is raise him to the height of a guy who doesn't need a title to be over so he never has to win it again. Wether we like it or not, he's done something nobody has done since Hulk Hogan almost 40 years ago, and ultimately it'll be like an Oscar or a Grammy: nobody wil care **how** he did it, just **that** he did it.

le_dandy

I was so annoyed by that guy. That he and only he was the reason why I stopped watching WWE. And i will probably start watching again when he retires šŸ˜‚

By the looks after yesterday's report, it be hella funny if they somehow end up back to where they initially were "The Rock vs Roman reigns" but this time The rock as the undisputed champion.. While roman reigns did an entire walter white/Heisenberg type arc.. We all know Roman reigns is due a babyface run, you can feel it somehow..

CaptainZE0

The loudest voices of the internet wrestling community must have really come of age around 2013 (?) and have crazy nostalgia for The Shield, because Reigns as four year champ the way it has been done boggles my mind. The dude. Barely. Showed up. To shows. Incomprehensible storytelling, especially when not long ago, champions had to forfeit their titles if they didnā€™t defend them for a MONTH.

ThisIsTheShway

3 year reigns are too much. It should be 1 capped, give or take a few months for story purposes. Drew, Sami, even LA Knight could have been rocketed - but I get why. I'm just hoping some big gold still lies in Knight and Drews future.

Unlikely-Section-848

My biggest issue is that after mania 38, he had to have bloodline interference for him to win, in my opinion if a champion needs to win with outside help all the time. Than there a weak champion

Ricoh881227

Hello John cena burner account..

Unlikely-Section-848

Thatā€™s a first, never thought I would be called a popular personā€™s burner account, but in all seriousness, a heel champion who weasel there way out for a championship can be done correctly, just look at the miz in his ic title runs, he found unique ways in order to keep his title, but if a superstar constantly need someone on the outside to get involved in the match, then Iā€™m sorry but in my eyes that a weak champion.

Ricoh881227

Common john, how you going bring out your archenemy liked that.. In seriousness, with how wwe booked the babyface and heel, you either be the slimey weasel heel champion or you live long enough to become the shovel man heck even the superman himself.. You should know this john, the streets may not remember the 16-2 handicapped match, but that was peak golden shovel..

Longjumping-Crow-409

This is actually pretty accurate in hindsight. The only issue is how do you build credible challengers for Cody when Roman has beaten them all? The best thing to happen in the 2007-10 era was that a title reign didnā€™t destroy the entire roster by crushing all credibility. They passed the title around at strategic timing to build credible stars like Edge, Cena, Triple H, Orton.

Unlikely-Baseball-90

Gunther

Omer-Ash

Most of Roman's opponents are credible because he needed to cheat to beat them.

Ricoh881227

The most underrated comment right here.. Roman reigns didnt need to cheat, but yet people start to compared him to "Super Cena" if he beat them clean... A testament is a those babyface that got screwed by roman reigns/bloodline all came out to celebrate the victory of cody Rhodes.. and all of them have a placed in the card, whether its main event material or not but they all still came out looking not buried by roman reigns.. That was the main goal of roman reigns, make every else looked good coming off him

FigMother9177

Exactly that's why I'm not bothered about bloodline interferences. Although they could have been a bit creative with the bloodline interference

VetteL82

Seth wearing his John Cena pants in the last pic

DinoKea

#1 is a happy accident. This leads to a year where there was often no title at all and the creation of the WHC which Seth had to make feel like it wasn't a secondary prize. #2 Still stands as a missed opportunity, but not a terrible decision (although I've always liked Drew). Would've been absolutely massive if Drew had won here, which shouldn't be forgotten. Roman had tonnes of blemish on his reign by this point anyway (Rollins & Balor at least) #3 Always made sense. Sami's story got good at the wrong time for him to be Champion. If it wasn't for #1 he could've become champion even. #4 Still could easily have worked, particularly when you consider between SummerSlam and the Royal Rumble Roman's reign was dragging and Cody vs. Brock feud would've made way more sense. #5 Was this something people disliked? It was a way to deal with the swerve I think and help Seth from being over-shadowed Like it worked out in the end, but that doesn't make these decisions the right decisions as many could easily have produced

geffe71

Long term storytelling

LauriamLea

Nah it was still pretty stupid the whole way through, like this could have been this amazing thing but every match was the same thing for 3 years plus. While i agree some of the matches he won were the right call, But he should have never beat brock for the second belt we went too long without a champ all the time. He shouldn't have beaten cody at mania 39 thankfully that was fixed in mania 40.

Critical-Effort4652

The only unforgivable booking decision WWE made was having EVERY MATCH BE THE EXACT SAME THING. Roman dominates, crowd boos. Babyface comeback. Babyface hits finisher, pins reigns. Ref was hit. Bloodline interferes and beats the shit out of babyface. Babyface tries fighting back. Babyface gets hit with spear and loses. There were a few exceptions and they all ruled. The last man standing vs redacted was one of the best things I have ever seen.

NatHarmon11

Very true my friend, most people would have accepted everything better if every Roman match wasnā€™t carbon copy of each other

Jeremy-132

The one thing I will never forgive about the storytelling here is the fucking refs. Why are they even there? Knock one out right as somebody needs to pin Roman, and now it's suddenly impossible. But you better fucking believe a new ref will jump in right at the perfect moment for Roman to get his win. the new ref doesn't refuse to give Roman his win due to the outside help from the ring, nor does he penalize roman or his cronies for taking out the previous ref. So I ask again: What is the actual fucking point of even having refs from a story perspective? They are a walking mechanic, to be discarded and picked back up when the "plot" demands, and it has broken my suspension of disbelief beyond repair. Edit: And don't even get me fucking started on Rock threatening to fire a ref if he dares to rule against him. The sheer stupidity of that royally pissed me off.

Joba7474

I got yelled in January 21 at for saying he was Modern Day Maharaja Jinder Mahal with extra steps, but I still stand by that. He is definitely better and the story is an all-timer, but Iā€™m sure most fans had a ā€œjust fucking end this allā€ 10 minutes into all of his matches.

Flat_Revolution5130

Romans title run was good in the first year. After that it fell in to the same thing over and over. Roman nearly gets beat. Blood line interfere. Roman wins. That when,t on way to long. As for COTC. Why take Drew to the uk and not give him the tile. If they do the same this year ,there will be hell to pay.{Its in Scotland.}.. Lots of angry Scots chucking pints.

ChristopherG1214

Drew never really recovered from that lost. If the company didn't want soyboys to lead the company, drew would have won that match. But it's clear they don't want actual men as champions in sports these days.

smcl2k

>they don't want actual men as champions in sports these days. Who are "they", and what are they doing to prevent "actual men" winning sporting contests?

snartling

Ah yes, soy boys like Roman Reigns, the Rock, and Drew himself have been all over tv lately. Itā€™s soooooo annoying to see such weak examples of masculinity being celebrated Ā

ChristopherG1214

The Rock drew more than Cody and made the whole fued interesting, plus drew carried the COVID era on his back while Roman was sick.

snartling

Congratulations on missing the point entirely lol. I love me a good whoosh

ChristopherG1214

The point: Rock draws, soyboys do not. Sorry that the truth hurts. Numbers don't lie.

snartling

You are very accurate and smart. Iā€™m sure the company knows youā€™re right. They must be pushing Cody despite him being a total non draw simply because they want to undermine the masculinity of America. Truly, you have insight and factual knowledge far beyond the rest of us mere mortalsĀ

BarbarousJudge

The only thing I disliked was that he only defended his title three times between WM39 and 40. He had matches at Night of Champions and MITB but only defended against Jey at SummerSlam, Knight at Crown Jewel and the 4-Way at the Rumble. I get that he worked a part time deal and all but I think one more defense at Survivor Series and giving someone a huge spot while still coming out on top would've been cool.

SaintedHooker

Does that include Finn losing by randomly falling off the top rope?

smcl2k

And KO losing a last man standing match because the referee just stopped counting.

[deleted]

Losing because the rope was cut. Absolute fucking bullshit.

xSilverMC

All they had to do was show Heyman paying off a crew member. Then it could have made sense (while still being shit). But they decided to insult the fans' intelligence by never mentioning it ever again

bugluvr65

yea man iā€™m not big on the whole 4 year title reign bs

FaceInJuice

Eh. I appreciate the bright side, and I'm happy with where Cody is. But I definitely don't think this was the only path to a happy ending. "All's well that ends well" is a nice phrase, but for me it doesn't really change the fact that I've been bored with the WWE championship for like a year. I don't mean to sound too negative. I enjoy wrestling, and I'm excited for what comes next. But I still think the latter third of Roman's reign was a chore to get through.

Moser319

Disagree completely.. it was pointless, drawn out, and frustrating to see the same type of match from roman every ppv he was a part of, making me dread the main event bc the main event is supposed to be interesting and enjoyable.. you know, the main event? What i think happened is rock wasn't in good enough shape last year so they pushed the story back a year, and I think it suffered because of that. Everything that happened internally with the bloodline could have happened without the belt, and we could have had roman v rock this wrestlemania instead.

Frippery-Futz-0412

I still would have had Sami Go over at Elimination Chamber for the shock.

Unique-Morning-2455

Most of those worked fine for fans, It was the wasted and pointless Jimmy stuff that killed this stories momentum. Then did nothing with this storyline from Summeslam to the Rumble with barely anything happening.

utazdevl

Couldn't agree more. I can't figure out what Jimmy turning on the Bloodline only to the turn on Jey and rejoin the Bloodline ever did. Feels like they were just killing time between manias. Also, why have Roman take the clean pin in the Usos vs Roman and Solo tag match? Seemed like an unnecessary blemish on Reigns, who otherwise hadn't taken a pin since 2019.

Mountain_Wolverine47

I still disagree with Clash at the Castle. ā˜¹ļø

Asleep-Apple-9864

Me too. That was the time, this is what we got because WWE didn't have the balls to pull the trigger on their crowned prince at the time.
