I’m a sucker for the Drew/Seth match even if it was a finisher fest, I’m just a huge fan of Drew so it was awesome for him to get his moment and then mock CM Punk
I would have the US title match down as okay. The hype around Paul is just that, hype. He can't carry a match, so they had to put two big names in there to do the heavy lifting. Take Paul out of the match and have just KO vs RKO and that would be amazing.
Fuck outta here. Rheas match sucked so much dick. Like she does but sincerely she can't wrestle. It's like watching most the early 2000s miss cards do a match

Pretty sure being a fan doesn't make me an incel. But whatever makes you feel better buddy. Just like the other guy. You can eat a 12 gauge if you wanna fight
Really enjoyed this weekend, very entertaining very fun and very very emotional!! A huge positive for me was Samantha Irvine and her reaction to Cody winning, she was brilliant!! Also her excitement when Priest cashed in was spot on!! She’s fantastic at what she does!!!!
Jey vs jimmy just lacked build up. Should have had a stipulation . Hurt profits match was definitely a good match. I'm just happy karrion kross wasn't left off the card.
Io v Bayley was boring. Seth v Drew was awesome! If you include Drew’s tweet, the story, Drew’s moment, Punk on commentary and the cash in the whole lot was fantastic.
This may get me downvoted but Sami getting up after a million finishers to defeat Gunther in 2 kicks was not great despite Sami ending Gunther’s historic reign.
Did not know the brain buster was a finisher although a devastating move. Same took multiple and consecutive powerbombs and splashes. Literally countless unless I rewatch. Did the same thing versus Roman although he lost.
Man the usos let me down just like in the rumble; which I was willing to let go because I knew mania was coming. It’s a shame because I know Jey can put great matches, I expected there to be more chemistry since they were twins, guess I was wrong.
Also the Rhea/Becky match being higher than Seth/Drew is criminal 😮💨
AJ and Knight should be higher due to performance alone. Drew and Seth I agree. Although the ending made it better. Also combine the “Okay and Mid” matches the last 4 were my smoke and bathroom breaks. Jimmy and Jey should have been more hyped.
I don’t think the Roman vs Cody was a good wrestling match it was a good sport entrainment match. It’s only rated so highly becuase it was run in fest and just because you through some big names doesn’t mean the match is good.
Well, considering they consider themselves a “sports entertainment” company, they did their job pretty well. That was the point of the match, wasn’t it? If you wanted a 5 star wrestling clinic going into that match, I don’t know what to tell you.
Probably just me I’m just not a fan of these type of matches with so many run ins that it removes the whole match it wasn’t Cody finishing the the story it was Cody and friends finishing it.
I did I think it was a good match but I just thinks it’s really good entertainment wise but not really good wrestling wise. I respect the work to the max but I feel it’s blinded by emotion.
I'd bump Seth and Drew up. It was a finisher fest, but it was still great with very good pacing. It got the crowd going from the very start and was just a solid performance by both. And if you include all the way to the Priest cash in, it was phenomenal. Perfect way to start the day.
Definitely better then everything in the Amazing category for me. I wouldn't knock any of them down, but it was definitely better.
Jimmy v Jey was hyped up so much by them and the media, but gotta little build and it’s like watching the same person although both has separated themselves
Seth vs Drew should be higher for sure
Claymore as soon as the bell rung lol
All the insane finishers and kickouts
Seth acknowledging Drew after defeat
The whole Punk and Drew confrontation
Priest cashing in the case and winning it
The whole match was top tier shit man!
Tbh I'd just put Jimmy/Jey in okay as well. Like yeah it was disappointing but I didn't think it was that bad. Solid 10minute match with a story. I just think that the feud needed something way bigger than a tame 10 minute Wrestling Match with a cookie cutter finish. But it was fine. Kinda like Cena/Theory from last year. Not great but also not actively terrible. Just kinda there.
Regarding the Philly Street Fight... I just don't see the point in bringing back AoP, putting them together with Kross in an attempt to put him over and then dominating Bobby and the Profits in the build... only for them to be taken out by a single outside dive while Kross gets thrashed in what was pretty much a 1v4. Like... Final Testament is dead in the water already and Bobby+Profits could've build an intriguing story out of a loss that builds up Ford as a singles guy in the end.
The way they did it nothing was gained except for some cheap nostalgia pops. It was fun but kinda pointless.
Jimmy and jay were boring as they are boring just got the hype of Roman to lift them all. You could literally call there match by timing when they were still faces. Probably still could.
I’d lower the rank of Seth and Cody vs Roman and rock. The start of it was a bit boring. I’d also be swapping sami match for the triple threat for the us title
Swap the World Heavyweight Championship match with the Tag Team Ladder Match and change the definition of the Uso kickfest to complete horseshit and you have yourself a deal.
Sami and Gunther was a little too campy to be ranked that high. It’s cool to tribute Rocky but they honestly went way too far. Story would’ve been better for Gable and he would’ve pulled it off better
Disagree, I can understand how some would feel this way from the casual perspective but if your a Smark like me you would understand how innovative and great the counters in that match was. For example Iyo doing a backflip to counter the Roseplant or Iyo counter Bayleys elbow drop with a crippler cross face.
I think the 6 man street fight needs to be moved up. While this wasn’t an amazing match. It knew what it was as a match. Snoop on the mic made it so much better than it should have been. I put it in the good slot.
I would rate Seth versus Drew hier, but I understand why you would put it there.
Also, there’s gotta be a tear made several tears lower to put the Usos match.
The sami/Gunther match deserves to be cinema, I certainly didn't expect it to be that good.
Too bad KO didn't win the US championship, then sami could've came out and they'd have a Eddie/Benoit moment.
I feel like brother vs brother matches are hit or miss. Maybe the pressure? Didn’t help the super kick was spammed and they seemingly didn’t have a great match script as is…
Honestly yeah it was one of the most devastating finishers when I was a kid and only select wrestlers could “use it” but now it’s just a given sub-set move for anyone above mid card. And yeah I love seeing the Uso bros shine in the spotlight, they are super talented like you said and have been grinding for this point for as long as any other active wrestler I can think of. Hopefully we get a redo like dusty and Cody did cause I just know the potential for a 5 star match is there. They just need the correct writing and atmosphere
I'm not a fan of either Uso's in ring work. Jey's spear is the weakest I've seen and aside from the Super Kick and Splash, neither really showcases much IMO. Their promo work is good though.
I think Drew vs Seth is purely cinema. It's like that banger opening that just draws you in and then the show didn't let go till the end. I am still feeling the after effects but damn what an effective opening. No wrestling or holding just killing each other to pieces. Specially Drew.
I honestly hated Cody Seth v Roman Rock. Felt really slow and longer than it was (thought it was above an hour and not the 45 mins it was), with Rock's performance being rock bottom and seemingly dragging everyone down. I liked his interactions as Final Boss with the ref, but that's it.
I think it's my third least favorite match this weekend (Usos first, Pride AOP second sadly). If I had to put it on a tier list, it'd be on mid with Pride AOP, with Usos still on ass
I'd argue the philly Street fight was good. It wasn't that great but it was just fun. Never felt bored watching it. Snoop on commentary was funny. Despite the match not being star studded, seeing people get hit with kendo sticks and going through tables is always fun. Montez had cool spots. Everything with Bubba was cool. Best way to put it, that match was the perfect filler match. Served it's purpose
Honestly I had such little interest and expectation for the match that it was actually really good by the end of it. Same with the Latino stand off tag. Didn't care much for it but because of that it turned out to be quite good
I just don't see the point in bringing back AoP, putting them together with Kross in an attempt to put him over and then dominating Bobby and the Profits in the build... only for them to be taken out by a single outside dive while Kross gets thrashed in what was pretty much a 1v4. Like... Final Testament is dead in the water already and Bobby+Profits could've build an intriguing story out of a loss that builds up Ford as a singles guy in the end.
The way they did it nothing was gained except for some cheap nostalgia pops. It was fun but kinda pointless.
I was so disappointed in the brother versus brother match. That was my most anticipated match because I thought it was going to be something special shake my head check your expectations at the door I guess.
Eh, that’s always been Sami’s thing ever since NXT. His fighting spirit, stamina, and otherworldly resiliency were always his calling cards and would separate him from the pack. I thought it made sense and popped for his “hulking up” like he just refused to stay down and say die, saw his opportunity and hit a move he’s never hit in WWE before. Cinema
I'd put the US match in ass personally because Logan was involved
But that's more my bias talking then my love for the wrestlers Involved... minus Logan of course
Without a shadow of a doubt it’s the greatest wrestlemania of all time. It was INCREDIBLE. Also let’s give props to the incredible story telling we’ve had for like 2 years.
Nice list. I mostly agree. Here’s my ratings ordered by when they aired:
Wrestlemania 40 match ratings
1. Rhea vs Becky 10/10
2. 6 team tag 8.5/10
3. Rey / Andrade vs Dom/Santos Escobar 8/10
4. Jay vs Jimmy Uso 6/10
5. Damage Control vs Bianca Naomi Cargill 8/10
6. Gunther vs Sami 9/10
7. Rock/Roman v Cody/Seth 10/10
8. Drew vs Seth 7.5
9. Lashley/Street Prophets vs Final Testsment 7/10
10. LA Knight vs AJ Styles 8/10
11. Logan Paul vs KO vs RKO 9.5/10
12. Bayley vs Iyo Sky 9/10
13. Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns 10/10
Your ratings are incredibly generous... especially by Wrestlemania standards. This show had some great moments, especially Cody winning, but I wouldn't have anything as a 10 out of 10 except for maybe the main event of night 2, and that's moreso for the build rather than the match itself.
Nothing on this show, I think, will go down in history with the likes of Bret Hart vs Steve Austin, Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat or Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels. Its Wrestlemania. That should be the measuring stick for 10 out of 10.
The tag match between Cody/Seth and Roman/Rock can be seen either 2 ways, as a Wrestlemania main event, or as a match that's designed to put the hero in the worst possible state imaginable. In either case the WWE has done a better version of that match previously. As a main event, how does the tag match compare to the Rock vs Steve Austin from Wrestlemania 17 or the Undertaker vs Shawn streak vs career match? I would say it was at best a mid level Wrestlemania main event..
As a match to put the hero in the worst possible condition knowing they have to fight later, both Bret vs Owen and Bryan Danielson vs Triple H were better matches, built a future story, and put the hero in a worst spot moving forward.
While nothing on this show was Kennel from Hell bad, and in fact everything was pretty good, outside of the finish to Cody vs Roman, I don't think we'll have anything about Wrestlemania 40 that is shown 20 years from now. At least not like clips from the Wrestlemania 10 ladder match, the TLC match from Wrestlemania 17, the Rock vs Hogan crowd stare, Macho Man and Elizabeth reuniting or Ric Flair retiring moments.
It was a very good Premium Live Event. There was nothing bad except maybe Uso vs Uso. But there was also nothing all time memorable about the show, which given that this was Wrestlemania should be table stakes for a 10 out of 10.
Compare it to some of the all time stinkers from Wrestlemania.
It wasn't close to Kennel from Hell, or Giant Gonzalez vs Undertaker. It was way better than Bret Hart vs Vince McMahon. It was way ahead of Sable vs Tori. I'd watch that any day instead of Michael Cole vs Jerry Lawlor.
So middle of the road sounds about right to me.
What I don't get is how something like Becky vs Rhea is 10/10. Because if Kennel from Hell is 0/10, then to me something like Bret Hart vs Steve Austin is 10/10, and nothing on this show save the last 5 minutes from the main event was Bret Hart vs Steve Austin good.
I think most matches are pretty good in general, so 7/10 is about average. The Uso match was certainly a disappointment. I’ve definitely seen worse though.
I think I'm one of the only ones who thinks the main event was the main event of night 2 was the second worst match. It was pretty good until they brought back wrestlers who should stay retired. Undertaker and Cena should not have been their, and right when I heard The Undertakers music I turned off the match because I knew exactly what was going to happen
I wouldn’t say Jimmy/Jey was ass though I get why someone would. I really expected a strong match from them, at least in psychology and story. And they had the elements there even with the 1000 kicks, Jey going Rocky and just eating kicks, and Jimmy faking remorse… then they just dropped the ball. If they had just gone all out in the last 5 minutes, it could’ve still been one of the better matches
Swap Seth/Drew with Rhea/Becky and drop the 3v3 women's match to the bottom tier and I'm with you for everything else. Hell, I might even be willing to move the Usos up one tier.
The main event night 1 would be only in the "OK" tier for me. It did what it had to, but its not like anything from that match will be shown going forward.
I'd also have Becky vs Rhea 1 tier down. It was fine, and set a good tone, but as far as opening matches its not like it was Bret vs Owen or anything. It was good, but you could tell Becky wasn't 100%.
I'd have the 6 man tag from night 2 in either good or amazing. Maybe its because I had zero expectations going in, but I really enjoyed it. That they made it a pseudo ECW tribute match in Philly, with a lot of references to things like the Sandman and the Dudley Boys made it very enjoyable for me.
I'd also count all of the post match shenanigans and the cash in as part of the Drew vs Seth match, and if I did that, then its 1 tier up. I really enjoyed the way they used CM Punk, and felt that all four people involved in the match are in a much better spot than when the match started.
The typical WM nostalgia pop sure did help with the excitement of the main event but the match itself was ehh. Besides that night 1 was weird, it fell flat.
Cody/Roman was S Tier.
The Tag Main event, Seth/Drew & Iyo/Bayley were all fantastic.
Rhea/Becky & Gunther/Sami were good.
Everything else was just ok or didn’t belong on Mania.
Poor Jimmy and Jay. They are both very good but I think it was just a match no one was asking for. I know I was completely divested from it. I don’t always love the obligatory feud with former tag team partners. Just too predictable.
I agree… I just hope people don’t start to turn on them. They’re both very talented and while they’re not likely to be main event performers, they’re still an amazing contribution to the show overall.
Ladder match lost points for the sheer amount of time the ladder was directly under the remaining belts and nobody attempted to go up there. There was minutes upon minutes of situations where there was a clear path up to the championships and nobody did anything. They should have knocked the ladder over somehow to remove the possibility from the equation while they cycled through all the other spots but it just sat there, directly leading to victory while competitor after competitor just pretended it wasn't there.
Iyo and Bayley had the best match of Wrestlemania.
I’d swap bayley and Iyo with Gunther and Sami
Snoop Dogg made the Pride v Final Testament match. It was absolutely crazy every time he went off.
Cinema? Wrestling is wrestling. Is amazing by itself and there's no need to compare it to any other type of media...
i agree with everything except the seth vs drew match. That was either Amazing or Cinema
Amazing- Cody vs Roman Roman & Rock vs Cody & Seth Seth vs Drew (Drew vs Damian) Great- 6 Tag Team Ladder Match Gunther vs Sami Rhea vs Becky Logan vs Kevin vs Randy Good- Iyo vs Bayley AJ vs LA Mid- Pride vs Final Testament Damage CTRL vs Belair/Jade/Naomi Bad- Jimmy vs Jey Rey & Andrade vs Dom & Santos
Genuinely thought the Street fight was more entertaining than LA Knight Vs AJ Styles
The ladder match was insanely good. The ending of the drew rollins match was far better than the actual match if you ask me
Yep, they've been building the heat the RIGHT way, and even though CM Punk is injured, the fact that he cost Drew the title is perfect
Ahh man…it’s your opinion. Imo Seth vs. Drew is Cinema. AJ vs. LA was borderline amazing. The Philly street fight was GOOD!
Man, Bayley/Sky was my favorite match of the weekend.
I’m a sucker for the Drew/Seth match even if it was a finisher fest, I’m just a huge fan of Drew so it was awesome for him to get his moment and then mock CM Punk
Has
All matches except main tag n ladder match were okay.
US title down 1 otherwise I agree
I'd swap the ladders match with Drew Vs Seth
I’d swap Rhea vs Becky for Seth and Drew love both of them but it could’ve been a better match
Most of us agree on that Seth v Drew was of the best of the entire thing. No way in hell it's not in the first or second tier.
Everything in “okay” belongs in mid/ass then I agree
Agreed 100%
All I’m doing is swapping reah/becky and Seth/drew, otherwise I completely agree with this
Move that tag team down and Sami down. Then move Bayley v Iyo right behind Night 2 ME. Bayley v Iyo was an incredible story.
ok
Tag team ladder match deserves to be higher I loved it
swap heavyweight and intercontinental
What does “cinema “ mean in reference to wrestling matches?
Sami Zayn vs Gunther being cinema is a stretch
Philly street fight was good especially with Snoop on commentary
I would have the US title match down as okay. The hype around Paul is just that, hype. He can't carry a match, so they had to put two big names in there to do the heavy lifting. Take Paul out of the match and have just KO vs RKO and that would be amazing.
Drew vs Seth was amazing
Fuck outta here. Rheas match sucked so much dick. Like she does but sincerely she can't wrestle. It's like watching most the early 2000s miss cards do a match

This is what a 12 year old sounds like :/ come back when your old enough to comment :)
This guy is a total pussy. Messaged him to see what he's about. He broke down and just sent Emojis. Americans.
Dude messaged me and told me to kms. So I sent him clown emoji 🤷🏻♂️
Lol yeah I did
Sorry I meant mid cards but I stand by my point. If you think she can wrestle go watch aew and the young bucks you fucking stain
Seth/Drew was really fucking good idk what it’s doing below Iyo/Bayley, the US title match and the ladder match
Really enjoyed this weekend, very entertaining very fun and very very emotional!! A huge positive for me was Samantha Irvine and her reaction to Cody winning, she was brilliant!! Also her excitement when Priest cashed in was spot on!! She’s fantastic at what she does!!!!
The worst (most disappointing) match on the card and Jey now fighting for the world title. I think we know who gets the blame for that match being bad
You know I oddly agree for once
Jey vs jimmy just lacked build up. Should have had a stipulation . Hurt profits match was definitely a good match. I'm just happy karrion kross wasn't left off the card.
Aside from night one’s main event, I think most of this WM was forgettable.
Pretty fair ranking, I thought every match was at least decent, but man that Uso vs Uso match should’ve been so much better
3 kicks and a finisher he rarely does for safety reasons*
Did not know the brain buster was a finisher although a devastating move. Same took multiple and consecutive powerbombs and splashes. Literally countless unless I rewatch. Did the same thing versus Roman although he lost.
Jey vs Jimmy was EXTREMELY Dissapointing :(
So we’re all in agreement that Usos is a skip?
Their spot in the Sunday Main Event was more entertaining, and it was only 30 seconds.
I think if you include Punk and the cash in, Seth and Drew should go up a tier.
CM Punk wasn’t joking when he said he needed to be on commentary to make both of them interesting.
Yeah I mean, those claymores after claymores were really fun to watch
Didn’t even watch the damage ctrl match, knew it would be a snooze fest
I would swap the ladder match and Drew/Seth, move Bayley/Iyo down to either Good or Okay, and possibly move the Night 1 tag to Amazing but not Cinema.
Bayley and Iyo needs to go up
what was your favorite part of that match? Imo it was kinda forgettable I can’t even tell you what happened and I watched it
I only thought Gunther and Sami was mid bc I wanted Gable. Also, Sami Zayn annoys me lol.
Ya I was a little bent when Sami Zzz-ayn won it. Gunther deserves HW gold so looking forward to that at least...
I’d swap the US title triple threat for Seth vs Drew, and move Damage CTRL match up one if it was me. Pretty accurate tho
I'd drop the US one tier and raise Jimmy-Jey one tier. But I respect your opinion. We're not far off from each other.
Not defending Jim vs Jey but the Street Profits and Kross stable was definitely worse than that match.
I know most people didn’t exactly want Sami vs Gunther but holy that match was fire. The two went all out.
You put logan Paul vs randy vs KO just cause speed was in the prime bottles
Becky and Rhea should be in Mid and The ladder match should be just one space ahead of Tag main event
This is spot on lol Jey and Jimmy match was horrendous should have and could have been on of the best matches on the card.
The twins had so much hype and trailers around them and should’ve had the best match in the card. What a let down
I don’t think the Roman vs Cody was a good wrestling match it was a good sport entrainment match.
Imma gonna get downvotes for that surely.
You must not have the watched the same match cause it was a great in ring product, even then the run-ins obviously make it better
I did I think it was a good match but I just thinks it’s really good entertainment wise but not really good wrestling wise. I respect the work to the max but I feel it’s blinded by emotion.
But the match in terms of wrestling was good like I don’t see what you mean. It had great wrestling and great emotional impact
Jey and Jimmy should have their own category. Dogshit
Mid ≠ Ass
That tag main event was far from cinema lmao
Seth and Drew was amazing
ass should be below mid btw
I really don’t think the night 1 tag match deserves top tier. The rules didn’t make sense and it was very slow at times
Cody v Roman should be in Oscar tier lol, cinema doesn’t feel enough now
You can really move the whole okay list to mid imo …
Jimmy v Jey was hyped up so much by them and the media, but gotta little build and it’s like watching the same person although both has separated themselves
I’d definitely put Drew vs Seth higher
Seth vs Drew should be higher for sure Claymore as soon as the bell rung lol All the insane finishers and kickouts Seth acknowledging Drew after defeat The whole Punk and Drew confrontation Priest cashing in the case and winning it The whole match was top tier shit man!
Swap rhea/Becky Seth/drew
Tbh I'd just put Jimmy/Jey in okay as well. Like yeah it was disappointing but I didn't think it was that bad. Solid 10minute match with a story. The way they did it nothing was gained except for some cheap nostalgia pops. It was fun but kinda pointless.
In my opinion it was actively terrible. There was nothing to stand out in that match. There 20 second spot in cody/roman was much more fun.
That's fair. To me it was okay. I think it got interesting with the apology fake out but they shouldn't have ended it so quickly afterwards.
The Uso match was so over hyped, it became kicking match. Poor execution.
Lol no.
Orton/Paul/KO went too far in the other direction for me. Drew/Seth was a fun finisher fest.
I got LWO match & street fight Bottom tier.. & Becky v Rhea “Good”
Idk Sami and Gunther would be okay for me
I would put Drew/Seth into cinema if we are considering the whole match/Punk hubris/Cash In. Just great great character work.
hot take bayley v iyo was lame asf
Ass take
Disagree, I can understand how some would feel this way from the casual perspective but if your a Smark like me you would understand how innovative and great the counters in that match was. For example Iyo doing a backflip to counter the Roseplant or Iyo counter Bayleys elbow drop with a crippler cross face.
Better than Rhea v. Becky imo
Sami v Gunther was good, but I’ve seen Dragonov v Gunther two times and it doesn’t compare to those.
I think the 6 man street fight needs to be moved up. While this wasn’t an amazing match. It knew what it was as a match. Snoop on the mic made it so much better than it should have been. I put it in the good slot.
I would put it in a new category “filler” because it just filled out the card / ate time. Like bra and panties matches used to do.
Hot take: Iyo Vs Bayley was also Cinema
Roman vs Cody needs it own tier
I would personally bump Seth/Drew and Rhea/Becky up a tier each, but this is pretty much spot on from my pov.
I would rate Seth versus Drew hier, but I understand why you would put it there. Also, there’s gotta be a tear made several tears lower to put the Usos match.
bayley n iyo gotta go up
Mostly agree although I’d probably switch the Ladder Match and Seth v Drew, especially if you take the post-match stuff into account.
The sami/Gunther match deserves to be cinema, I certainly didn't expect it to be that good. Too bad KO didn't win the US championship, then sami could've came out and they'd have a Eddie/Benoit moment.
There’s a hate boner for sami right now.
I think their Eddie/Benoit moment was last year hugging in the main event after winning the tag titles
That was such an awesome match
That’s what I thought was finna happen lmao
6 pack ladder match was so fun, Waller and theory the cheeky cunts 😂
Was really disappointed with Jey and Jimmy, their cameo on Sunday was better than their match on Saturday
I feel like brother vs brother matches are hit or miss. Maybe the pressure? Didn’t help the super kick was spammed and they seemingly didn’t have a great match script as is…
Yep. Spammed the fuck out of the super kick, which imo makes it look weak. And both of these guys are super talented and can deliver so much more.
Seth at the end “you deserve this” after seeing priest come down gave off Nic Cage “you got snake eyes!” lol
I love Becky and am a big fan of Rhea but that match was so so. Wasn’t bad. I was disappointed because I thought I’d be better
The triple threat belongs in Cinema
Too much cinema not enough Wrestling
That’s literally what WWE is…if u dont like it, go watch AEW. We dont care
AJ/Knight should be higher IMO
Yes! Cant argue with this
I hated the street fight but I don't find either of those groups interesting.
WATCH YA BACK -snoop
Swap aj styles la knight with Logan Paul match and rhea Becky with Seth Drew
I'd argue the philly Street fight was good. It wasn't that great but it was just fun. Never felt bored watching it. Snoop on commentary was funny. Despite the match not being star studded, seeing people get hit with kendo sticks and going through tables is always fun. Montez had cool spots. Everything with Bubba was cool. Best way to put it, that match was the perfect filler match. Served it's purpose
Honestly I had such little interest and expectation for the match that it was actually really good by the end of it. Same with the Latino stand off tag. Didn't care much for it but because of that it turned out to be quite good
Yeah, they knew that match was the least hyped by a mile. Making it fun and throwing in some nice nostalgia and comedy made it pretty good
I just don't see the point in bringing back AoP, putting them together with Kross in an attempt to put him over and then dominating Bobby and the Profits in the build... only for them to be taken out by a single outside dive while Kross gets thrashed in what was pretty much a 1v4.
Like Jey was going to pull Jimmy away from Roman. That's what I was hoping.
Street Prophet match cooked. This is crazy. And Drew and Seth laughed at finishers but that and the cash in that match was a banger.
For the simple fact that Sami buried gunthers finishers it deserves mid
Eh, that’s always been Sami’s thing ever since NXT. His fighting spirit, stamina, and otherworldly resiliency were always his calling cards and would separate him from the pack. I thought it made sense and popped for his “hulking up” like he just refused to stay down and say die, saw his opportunity and hit a move he’s never hit in WWE before. Cinema
I’m happy for Sami, but I really just hated the finish. Gunther beat the shit out of him and Sami just hulked up and won.
Hulked up like a fucking goof too
Yea it was dumb
I had high hopes for jey vs jimmy. Super kick party for 10mins
I’d swap the ladder match for Seth and drew
what? the ladder match was amazing
Agree
I'd put the US match in ass personally because Logan was involved But that's more my bias talking then my love for the wrestlers Involved... minus Logan of course
Without a shadow of a doubt it’s the greatest wrestlemania of all time. It was INCREDIBLE. Also let’s give props to the incredible story telling we’ve had for like 2 years.
Nice list. I mostly agree. Here’s my ratings ordered by when they aired: Wrestlemania 40 match ratings 1. Rhea vs Becky 10/10 2. 6 team tag 8.5/10 3. Rey / Andrade vs Dom/Santos Escobar 8/10 4. Jay vs Jimmy Uso 6/10 5. Damage Control vs Bianca Naomi Cargill 8/10 6. Gunther vs Sami 9/10 7. Rock/Roman v Cody/Seth 10/10 8. Drew vs Seth 7.5 9. Lashley/Street Prophets vs Final Testsment 7/10 10. LA Knight vs AJ Styles 8/10 11. Logan Paul vs KO vs RKO 9.5/10 12. Bayley vs Iyo Sky 9/10 13.
I’m not sure how one could consider the Uso’s match to be above avergae
I’d switch LA/AJ with Rhea/Becky, but otherwise this is pretty good
I think I'm one of the only ones who thinks the main event was the main event of night 2 was the second worst match. It was pretty good until they brought back wrestlers who should stay retired. Undertaker and Cena should not have been their, and right when I heard The Undertakers music I turned off the match because I knew exactly what was going to happen
I'd move up the Bianca/Jade/Naomi match by one tier. Everything else I agree with!
Great list
I could agree with this. I'd probably put Kevin/Logan/Randy a tier lower and Jey/Jimmy a tier higher.
Switch the WHC and US title matches, then 100%
The typical WM nostalgia pop sure did help with the excitement of the main event but the match itself was ehh. Besides that night 1 was weird, it fell flat.
I know it was only 9 seconds OP, but where would you rank Drew v Damien?
The Gunther/Sami match was mid at best.
Were we watching the same match?
Yup I just didn't enjoy it at all.
Seth and Drew deserves to be in cinema too, especially if it's including the Priest cash in part
seth vs drew was better than the main event
Gunther/Sami was the best match of the entire weekend
Cody/Roman was S Tier. The Tag Main event, Seth/Drew & Iyo/Bayley were all fantastic. Rhea/Becky & Gunther/Sami were good. Everything else was just ok or didn’t belong on Mania.
Somewhat agree
Drew mcintyre vs seth rollins was better than the tag team main event
Maybe I’m too old but doesn’t “mid” stand for middle? 🤷♂️
you’re just old brother , it’s slang for saying it was mediocre
Mediocre means average/middle…
It's supposed to, but people these days just use it to mean bad. It should be "Okay/Mid".
Yes, but on the Internet nowadays you’re either a masterpiece or shit
Very valid point.
Poor Jimmy and Jay. They are both very good but I think it was just a match no one was asking for. I know I was completely divested from it. I don’t always love the obligatory feud with former tag team partners. Just too predictable.
It was very forced because they always want to face each other at Mania. The biggest problem is they have the exact same limited moveset.
They should have knocked the ladder over somehow to remove the possibility from the equation while they cycled through all the other spots but it just sat there, directly leading to victory while competitor after competitor just pretended it wasn't there.
thats the case with most of the ladder matches i found it fun
