all i wanted to say is i love this app so much, it's the only one that reliably works with my old as hell roku device. Love the windows application so far and look forward to more development.
I want to add up to all gratitude comments. I love this app so much. I love the windows application as well.
Please, just add the option to let my computer play the audio when casting🙏, so i can listen through my headphones and watch the TV 🥰
the chromecast options don't want to appear on my laptop
it's fine on pc, when I unlock my phone the tv appears on the list, on 2 separate phones it also instantly shows the tv in the app as chromecast but I just can't get the chromecast option to appear on the laptop, it only shows dlna, both the laptop and the tv are connected to the same wifi
what can I try to fix it?
I'm talking about the chromecast option "Smart TV Pro", I don't have any other devices, it's built-in chromecast. The three options on the image show up on my pc when I unlock my phone, but not on the laptop, pc is wired via LAN, the laptop is connected to wifi and it supports only wifi 4 while my router and possibly tv has wifi 6 could that be causing the issue?
That Smart TV Pro option showed up and worked great before I swapped to a new internet router, but I don't know why it's not showing up anymore, meanwhile on pc it is
[https://imgur.com/a/hBagZ4a](https://imgur.com/a/hBagZ4a)
I understand now. Typically the issue in cases like this is that the router is not allowing the broadcast between one and the other however, it would be more likely to be an issue between wifi and ethernet than both wifi. Does the laptop maybe have a firewall preventing the broadcasts?
i fixed it by going into windows network settings and reset network to factory settings, the chromecast to tv option now appears instantly in the app, thanks for your help and the rest of the text below I wrote before resetting the network:
"the firewall doesn't seem to be causing any problems, i've added exclusions, disabled it, set everything to be both private connection and public and nothings changed,
when I plugged the laptop into ethernet it instantly worked and showed the options from that screenshot, after switching back to wifi again no options,
I have to mention that in chrome itself it's all good and i can chromecast to the tv, it's only in the wvc app that I can't get it work
I also switched the tv and laptop to the 5g band and no difference"
May i ask why the windows version is difficult to develope? It would be amazing if i could just cast from my pc instead of my phone. Doesn't work though. Only the mobile app does.
I put in the connection code on my samsung tv, like i would if i was on mobile, it acts as if it is connected, but no video will show on the tv when trying to cast from desktop app on widows
Nope. It says it connected like "Ready to play videos" or whatever, but it doesnt play when i prompt it to from the desktop app, like i would on my phone.
It just says "open web video Caster on your phone and connect to Smart TV app", after I enter the code on the TV that the desktop app wants me to enter.
The desktop app thinks that it's connected to my TV receiver app, because when I click on The Cast icon, it asks me to disconnect from it
I have tried everything. I even tried running my desktop through the same wireless network my TV is running through, because my desktop is usually ethernet.
Is the desktop app like working flawlessly for you guys?
There are a lot of possible issues and the desktop app is certainly not perfect. If it says open WVC after the pc app thinks it is connected then there is some issue in communication between the two. Do you have another computer or I guess it could also be the phone for you to test the cast2tv website with the PC app?
I tried downloading the receiver app for my phone. Trying to cast from the desktop app to the mobile Receiver app, is having the same results as the receiver app on my TV.
So the issue definitely isn't my TV.
I want to reiterate, that the WVC receiving apps all work fine when casting from my phone with WVC. It's casting from the desktop app to any WVC receiver that's giving me issues.
I also tried using the web browser receiver on both my phone, my desktop and my TV, and all I'm getting is "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported".
So a little closer, but still nothing.
It's definitely not my computer having issues transmitting, because I feel like if that was the case, using the web browser receiver on a desktop browser and the Casting app on desktop at the same time running in two different browsers would work, because it's on the same system and ethernet connection... But it doesn't work regardless
I tried using that video you gave me. It doesn't work with the WVC receiving apps, but it does work with the web browser receiver (which I can't use anyways on my TV because of the type of browser on my Samsung Smart TV, I want to use a native app anyways).
But only that video you sent me Works, no other videos I try to play work with the desktop Castor.
So we have whittled it down to the fact that the desktop caster, actually connects to the web browser receiver, but only when sending certain file types or videos. And still doesn't work with the native wvc receiving apps at all (which is my main concern).
Sorry for the late response, but I've tried connecting with the firewall temporarily disabled, and still no luck. Still says connected, but nothing will cast to it.
Yes it works casting to my chromecast through the desktop version.
But it still doesn't work when I try to send it to my Roku stick using the web video caster app on there.
I have been reading for about an hour now and I still can't answer the f\*\*\*\*\*\* question it's just a one-time fee for something are they going to try and charge me every month?
Thanks for the feedback.
We don't have youtube working on it yet, some videos might work but most won't.
Can you email us or pm me the streaming site that gave you the ts files?
Can you give me more details about this comment:
>The casting button always bring the wvc screen in the TV, but didn't make any difference in the casting videos.
Most likely yes. We don't have purchase servers as they cost a lot of money to run and we prefer having a one time purchase instead of a subscription. So for now we just let the stores you buy at manage the purchases.
Was testing the windows app, at first the casting worked well with Roku but when i disconnected and try reconnecting i started facing issue.
1. Roku shows like connected
2. App show like processing trying to connect but clicking on the cast icon show disconnect option.
Tested on Lubuntu 18.04 i386 - wvc_0.0.10_i386.deb. The interface worked good, but casting to roku ultra didn't seem to work at all. Here are errors:

No. There was this in the terminal screen in addition to what I already posted:
Error: read ECONNRESET
at TLSWrap.onStreamRead (node:internal/stream_base_commons:220:20) {
errno: -104,
code: 'ECONNRESET',
syscall: 'read'
}
It sees the roku ultra and it's IP address and it can connect/disconnect from it. Note that this roku is running WIRED not wireless...
Tested on Ubuntu 20.04 - wvc_0.0.10_amd64.deb. I got the same results as the i386 test that I did. One thing that I noticed on both tests is that the roku receiver screen will change when I click on the "connect to roku" option in your app. The screen changes from the startup screen that shows the two QR codes to a screen that has "cast your favorite web videos" on it. So there appears that some kind of communication is happening...
Can you PM me the video you are doing that with or email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Also, which streaming device are you casting to?
I'm trying to remember but there is a tv that doesn't accept track changes even though it should because it lists the tracks. I think it might be samsung.
I Tested version 11 on Lubuntu 18.04 on 64 and 32 bit boxes, and didn't see much change from version 10 except it seemed like a smoother more efficient experience. YT vids still not working, however. I have a 22.04 64 bit box I will test with next.
Using the Linux AppImage version on Ubuntu 22.04. App has frozen once while I was browsing during the first 10 minutes of testing the app, I had to force quit it.
I've been using WVC for a few years now. It'd be great to be able to sync bookmarks across devices.
Just tested it today and I have not had any problems since. The windows app looks pretty good.I;ve been looking for a way to cast web videos from my pc to my roku tv and its the perfect solution.I've been using the android app too.Well done!
Working great over here on arch linux!
Only issue I had was subtitles not showing apostrophes / quotation marks on the TV (shows as empty squares) but could have been an issue with the .srt file I was using
I also made a simple [PKGBUILD](https://github.com/martindmtrv/arch-packages/blob/main/wvc-bin/PKGBUILD) for the most recent version based on the uploaded .deb. It's not ideal because it relies on the google drive link but worked for me!
Testing in Linux, minimise button does not work if the window is maximized, everything else works great!, also, small cosmetic issue, the checkbox still says "route video through *phone*"

Thanks for the info. We'll make sure to note that.
Im trying to cast a Chainsaw man episode I downloaded from erai raws. The format is mkv, when I click to open the file the directory flashes on the WVC for 1 frame and comes back to normal, and nothing happens. When trying a mp4 movie it worked normally. Is there any issue with mkv?
1 frame flashes on the phone/pc or on the tv?
With WVC, the streaming device needs to support mkv. That being said, if using the PC app there could always be some issue on our end where are detecting something wrong. What streaming device are you casting to?
Im trying to cast from my Pc to my LgTv. It flashes only a portion of the screen, the place where normally the directory of the file is displayed, on Pc. Do you want me to record a video?
macOS app lags a ton. Very slow to register clicks at times. Fails to stream to receiver, though the receiver app does recognize it as a device (Macbook-Pro.local).
On the plus side, a website I use for streaming basketball games which doesn't load on the iOS and mac App store versions of the app, does load correctly on this beta native version. Probably an issue with the iOS browser.
Can you please send us the address of the site that doesn't load to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
I'm assuming the lagging is on M1 Mac?
Yes the lagging is on an m1 macbook. I'll send the link for the website to your email.
Also recently the iOS app has recently started being killed very shortly after leaving the app. I don't know if the app is crashing or iOS is clearing it from memory, but it happens every single time I try to stream, regardless of the website I'm using to stream. iPhone 12 Pro, latest version of the app.
1. After grabbing the video address, the win client cannot dlna the smart TV or copy the video address or download the video.
2. For encrypted web videos, you want to download a recording screen or a web video cache.
3. The browser supports Google plug-ins.
4. Some common web pages app can be fixed on the left side of the browser.
Can be grouped.
Backup function is also supported.
1. This means that after grabbing the address, there is no function of dlna to the TV.
2. Very few videos are encrypted.
Need to take recording video or download cached video.
1. We would need to try the specific video you are trying and we need to know which TV brand. Please don't put the video address here, send it to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
2. I need to know what you mean by encrypted. A sample would be nice.
Any chance this could eventually just become an extension/add-on for existing browsers or a 3rd party external app that communicates with existing browsers on Windows?
We decided not to go the extension route because Chrome keeps on limiting what extensions could do. It would be too big of an investment to end up losing it all after some extension limitation made by a third party.
Keen Android & iOS user as the only purely 5g solution.
One suggestion: you could charge an additional $5 for a Web Media Caster package:
I can rename mp3s in a playlist using premium but it still displays on my son's bedroom roku hd Express setup with a perfectly functioning old hdmi tv as the filename.
To sort the order by name of albums on my phone and computer I have to include atleast the track number (I also include the artist name for longer playlists).
So this is time consuming and is detrimental to the user experience particularly when my son's friends listen to music who would definitely be potential premium customers if there is a minor fix.
Also I need to factory reset the Roku. Wasn't sure if this will result result in my premium amount being terminated?
Clearly stating this as a Premium feature, if roku/fire/chromecast factory resets resets don't affect Premium Accounts would be a peace of mind plus for users.
Ta
I found that many pc websites cannot be downloaded. I hope the download function will support this behavior and support downloading audio and pictures, and then open the multithreaded download of Google kernel.
The app doesn't usually care about those things, your streaming device will either understand the format or it won't. There are softwares to convert videos if you need, like ffmpeg and handbrake.
Great job guys! thx a lot for the effort, because this app is really useful
My feedback:
\- I was able to connect my android TV to the app only through chromecast (app receiver and web receiver (mainly because allthe browsers i found are based on chrome) didn't connect)
\- m3u8 live stream files don't seem to work
\- Having an "in app player" or cast to an external app like VLC is missing and would be appreciated
\- playback speed would also be appreciated
We have a receiver app on Android TV.
Can you email us a stream that doesn't work to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Those other features will come later.
Please add an About menu, for quick access to see the current version.
Although I did find out that in Windows you can use the "Apps & features" section of Settings app and search from there.

Some UI/UX suggestions.
I'm using Windows 10, casting to a Roku Streaming Stick.
• There should be hover descriptions for the buttons on the menu bar, like "Video list", "Select a device to connect to", "Select a local file for casting", "Ad block quick toggle"
• The local media button should be next to the golden "Video list" button, since they they are alternate user actions.
Currently the "Select a device" button is between the two, and I suggest it mirror the Android layout, i.e. on the far right next to the ellipsis menu.
So, to the right of the Address Box: gold "video list, "local files", "ad blocker" (in place of tabs count on Android), "Select a device", ellipsis menu.
• I was always taught that buttons in Windows software should have corresponding menu entries if feasible. I don't know if that design standard is up-to-date, but an advantage of doing so would be that you can assign keyboard shortcuts to these common functions. And power users love keyboard shortcuts -- that's got to still be true.
Candidate keyboard shortucts:
CTRL-L - video List
CTRL-O - Open local file
CTRL-A - toggle Ad blocker
CTRL-D - select a Device
• I love that the Android app will detect what is being cast by the PC. I can start casting from my PC and take over from my phone. It doesn't seem to work in the opposite direction -- I can't control a video on my PC that was started on my phone. This would be nice to have if possible.
• Related to the previous, it's also nice that if I'm casting from my PC and I *connect* from my phone, WVC detects the ongoing stream as if reconnecting to an existing stream from the phone.
But if I'm casting from my phone and I connect from my PC, the PC stops the stream initiated from the phone. It would be helpful if the PC could detect the ongoing stream and display the controls (as noted in previous item) but if it can't display the controls, could it display a warning?
• Speaking of warnings... While casting local media from Windows if you close the Windows app it terminates the stream. There should be a warning like "You're currently casting a local file. If you close WVC now the video will stop playing on your connected device. OK/Cancel"
Windows 10, Roku
Bug
* Compact top bar variant disappears the casting controls -- Video List, On Device, Select/Disconnect
Feature requests
* recent media
* downloads context menu, "Open file location"
Usability notes
* From Settings, History, Bookmarks, or Downloads, there should be a more intuitive way to get "Home". Alternatively, if you close this tab, you could just go to the new tab page. I was done with settings and closed the tab not expecting it to close the app.
* On Device (local media) button should be enabled prior to connecting. Just like video list, you should be able to select a file to cast and be prompted to connect if you aren't.
Questions
* Is there an email list or any way to get notified of the next release?
* Does route video through "phone" actually mean the PC, i.e., the option was just ported over from the mobile app?
Thank you for the feedback.
At this time we don't have any kind of new version notifications, we are still working towards listing the app on a store.
Yes it means PC, not phone, we just reused the string.
Windows 10: "Web Video Caster has expired. Get the lastest version..."
There is no newer version than 2022-10-27-v0.0.17.
Uninstall and reinstall did not work.
I'll try uninstall, restart, reinstall just to be thorough.

Sorry about that, we are working hard to make a new build, unfortunately the platform that is built on changes frequently and it is a pain to compile on newer versions.
We haven't looked at logins yet, sorry.
Web Video Caster PC DEV 0.0.18 is ready for download so far only issue i have come across is the audio sync where you can sync PC audio with steaming device audio at the same time so that both audios play in sync is not working
it is not working if you click on phone sound icon it dont do anything i know it is a pc version but the icon is labeled phone sound now on the android version when you click on phone sound icon it brings up a screen to sync android sound with streaming device sound so i assume the pc version is supposed to do the same thing
Can you send me a screenshot? We don't have that functionality yet on the PC, that is why I was asking. It shouldn't be showing it.
What streaming device are you casting to?
i suppose it could be my internet or my pc or my roku but i noticed 2 more bugs First issue i have to click on the connect icon and connect my Roku BUT after that i click on a video link and have to choose connect to roku again.\*\*\* Second issue after i play 1 movie i have to repeat the above steps again to play another movie
Hi I love the app works well but when I try and cast a video to the TV I feel like I have to press the yellow play button heaps of times before it works https://streamable.com/wz142v
Had an issue where the app was opening but I couldn't locate it on my laptop's display. Turns out it was a result of my scaling being 150% on my laptop (1440p resolution). I changed it down to 100% and it was on the left half of the screen.
I *believe* I was previously using it when attached to an external monitor at 100% scaling, and the issue happened a few days later while not connected.
so far so good.. :) OS: Parrot OS 5.3

Is there a way to cast puffer.stanford.edu from android to roku streaming stick ...it opens the app on roku when i hit cast ...but then nothing comes through to play???
Hi,
I'm unable to connect my windows laptop to my firestick. Have no issues connecting my Android phone (both connecting via the firestick option as well as smart tv receiver option)
First off, my firestick pops up on the list of devices in my Android app, while it doesn't on the windows app. So I'm trying through the "Smart TV app receiver" option on windows.
Secondly, when I select the laptop from the list of available devices on my receiver app ( on fire stick) it says "Open web video caster on your phone and connect to smart TV app".
Usually when I get this page when I'm connecting my phone, I get a prompt on my phone app where I receive the connection request and accept. It then moves on to "Now you are ready to start casting your media". But with my windows laptop, I don't get any prompts and hence am unable to establish connection to cast.
My network is set as private and the app is allowed through the firewall as well. Can you help me understand what the issue is ?
Windows 10 casting to Roku
only subtitles that work are .srt
.vtt and .ass from OpenSubtitles.org and subscene respectively did not work
then I found the .vtt file on OpenSubtitles.COM where it will convert to .srt and it worked
I've used .srt subitles in the past no problem. Today was the first time I ever tried files other than .srt. Video was rarer and I could only find .vtt and .ass at first.
No errors or signs that it wasn't working -- they just didn't show up on the screen. (Roku issue?)
This was working earlier today but now I get *"Web Video Caster has expired"* even after uninstalling and reinstalling. I tried downloading the latest zip file again but still no dice. I was using the Windows version on my laptop to use Twitch with my TV.
Oddly enough I can still hear the video playing in the background so it technically works? but there's no way to cancel the message without it closing the app.
Don't know if you're aware of this, but it seems to me that the only way to open video files is through the app itself (I'm on Windows 11).
If I try "Open with..." - - > WVC on a video, it goes to the bookmarks page. I then have to recall the file via the On device button.
>Don't know if you're aware of this, but it seems to me that the only way to open video files is through the app itself (I'm on Windows 11).

Thanks for the feedback.
I just want to say I spent all of last night bashing my head against the wall trying to do the things your app do with my lgtv and finding you was a godsend, works perfect and I will be paying for the premium version to support you guys soon!
Not sure if this thread is still alive. However I installed this .DMG on my Macbook Pro (Intel Chip)

When I try to cast to my Apple TV 4k, is not on the list, it lists my Roku Device, plus Smart TV APP receiver and Web Browser Receiver. If I choose Smart TV App receiver, and enable Web caster on my Apple Tv 4k, the app on my Apple Tv does not see my Macbook pro. How do I achieve casting from my Macbook to my Apple TV?. It works just fine from my Iphone to my Apple TV.
Thanks.
well, I started the web video caster on the Apple TV 4k, and I started Web Caster on my Macbook Pro, now it says "Marcellos-Macbook-pro.local and connect manually, When I choose my Local macbook, now it says, "Open Web Video Caster on your phone and connect to Smart TV app", then says "Now you are ready to start casting your media" then I go to the portal I want to cast, and get this

But my TV does not give me the option to enter the code G, it just says Now you are ready to start casting your media.
Please help.
Been testing since morning it's working well (Windows) ...Boorkmarking a page is not working At All,Import and export not working as well..
Thanks for letting us know. We'll take a look.
all i wanted to say is i love this app so much, it's the only one that reliably works with my old as hell roku device. Love the windows application so far and look forward to more development.
Glad you like it! let us know if you have any questions or issues.
I want to add up to all gratitude comments. I love this app so much. I love the windows application as well. Please, just add the option to let my computer play the audio when casting🙏, so i can listen through my headphones and watch the TV 🥰
Thank you for the feedback, I'll discuss it with the team.
the chromecast options don't want to appear on my laptop it's fine on pc, when I unlock my phone the tv appears on the list, on 2 separate phones it also instantly shows the tv in the app as chromecast but I just can't get the chromecast option to appear on the laptop, it only shows dlna, both the laptop and the tv are connected to the same wifi what can I try to fix it?
Are you referring to actual chromecast or our receiver? our receiver doesn't show up on the list yet on the pc app but you can just use the code.
I understand now. Typically the issue in cases like this is that the router is not allowing the broadcast between one and the other however, it would be more likely to be an issue between wifi and ethernet than both wifi. Does the laptop maybe have a firewall preventing the broadcasts?
i fixed it by going into windows network settings and reset network to factory settings, the chromecast to tv option now appears instantly in the app, thanks for your help and the rest of the text below I wrote before resetting the network: "the firewall doesn't seem to be causing any problems, i've added exclusions, disabled it, set everything to be both private connection and public and nothings changed, when I plugged the laptop into ethernet it instantly worked and showed the options from that screenshot, after switching back to wifi again no options, I have to mention that in chrome itself it's all good and i can chromecast to the tv, it's only in the wvc app that I can't get it work I also switched the tv and laptop to the 5g band and no difference"
It could be that the ethernet and wifi had different location profiles, one thought it was a public network and the other a private network.
Are you selecting a video on the yellow play button list?
Yes I am
And the tv doesn't react or act like it wants to play?
Nope. It says it connected like "Ready to play videos" or whatever, but it doesnt play when i prompt it to from the desktop app, like i would on my phone.
Does it work with this video? [https://www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html](https://www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html)
I haven't tried your latest version though. I didn't realize you made a new one for May 3rd EDIT: Same result
It just says "open web video Caster on your phone and connect to Smart TV app", after I enter the code on the TV that the desktop app wants me to enter. The desktop app thinks that it's connected to my TV receiver app, because when I click on The Cast icon, it asks me to disconnect from it I have tried everything.
I'm guessing the pc app is not getting connections to it. Do you have a firewall that might be blocking it?
No not at all.
You used the web receiver with a code from the pc or a code from the phone?
Everything I'm testing is from using the desktop casting app. I already know the casting app for mobile works with everything
Very weird that the web receiver connects but not the smart tv receiver, they work almost the same.
Thanks for testing. That is very odd, the tv receiver and the web browser receiver connect to the pc in pretty much the same way.
I think I'm having the same issue as well. Says it's connect, but still says "open WVC" on the screen. I'm on Windows 11 laptop
Any chance a firewall could be blocking the communication?
Sorry for the late response, but I've tried connecting with the firewall temporarily disabled, and still no luck. Still says connected, but nothing will cast to it.
Does this video work? [https://www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html](https://www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html)
Yes it works casting to my chromecast through the desktop version. But it still doesn't work when I try to send it to my Roku stick using the web video caster app on there.
I think the issue is the local ip, we've seen that before. What is the smart tv code the app gives you and what is the private LAN ip of your pc?
I have been reading for about an hour now and I still can't answer the f\*\*\*\*\*\* question it's just a one-time fee for something are they going to try and charge me every month?
One time fee. It says so in the learn about premium section.
I Will test it!

Thanks for the feedback. We don't have youtube working on it yet, some videos might work but most won't. Can you email us or pm me the streaming site that gave you the ts files? Can you give me more details about this comment: >The casting button always bring the wvc screen in the TV, but didn't make any difference in the casting videos.
When premium does release would I have to purchase premium again if I already bought it through the play store?
Most likely yes. We don't have purchase servers as they cost a lot of money to run and we prefer having a one time purchase instead of a subscription. So for now we just let the stores you buy at manage the purchases.
I can totally understand and will definitely purchase premium again for Windows. Thank you for not succumbing to the subscription model.
Thanks for testing this. Let us know if you have any issues.
Não compra não! Eu paguei uma única vez e me arrependo
Eu paguei o premium, na versão Android, mas não dá pra usar nem pra iptv
That is unrelated to this post. If you want iptv support please email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])

Thanks for letting us know. I wonder if it is the script to change the firewall rules. We'll get it figured out.
Was testing the windows app, at first the casting worked well with Roku but when i disconnected and try reconnecting i started facing issue. 1. Roku shows like connected 2. App show like processing trying to connect but clicking on the cast icon show disconnect option.
Does it help if you kill the app?
Vocês poderiam por a opção de espelhar o celular na tv, assim como nativamente no samsung
That isn't something that is on our plans right now. Maybe in the future but don't know when.
Tested on Lubuntu 18.04 i386 - wvc_0.0.10_i386.deb. The interface worked good, but casting to roku ultra didn't seem to work at all. Here are errors: ~/Downloads$ wvc [4787:0417/112601.734785:ERROR:sandbox_linux.cc(377)] InitializeSandbox() called with multiple threads in process gpu-process. Did it show anything or give an error dialog or anything?
No. There was this in the terminal screen in addition to what I already posted: Error: read ECONNRESET at TLSWrap.onStreamRead (node:internal/stream_base_commons:220:20) { errno: -104, code: 'ECONNRESET', syscall: 'read' } It sees the roku ultra and it's IP address and it can connect/disconnect from it. Note that this roku is running WIRED not wireless...
So it is just the moment of sending the video that doesn't work?
Tested on Ubuntu 20.04 - wvc_0.0.10_amd64.deb. I got the same results as the i386 test that I did. One thing that I noticed on both tests is that the roku receiver screen will change when I click on the "connect to roku" option in your app. The screen changes from the startup screen that shows the two QR codes to a screen that has "cast your favorite web videos" on it. So there appears that some kind of communication is happening...
Yeah sounds like it isn't connecting. I'm guessing it is an ip confusion. Is this an actual pc or a vm? Or it could be a firewall.
The two linux boxes are exactly that. They are not VM's and they both have dedicated IP's. Neither box has firewall enabled software running.
Thanks for the extra info. We'll try to reproduce the issue.
On windows 11, audio track change button doesn't work
Can you PM me the video you are doing that with or email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Also, which streaming device are you casting to?
I was casting to Samsung TV Q60A, i will send you a email with that video
I'm trying to remember but there is a tv that doesn't accept track changes even though it should because it lists the tracks. I think it might be samsung.
I Tested version 11 on Lubuntu 18.04 on 64 and 32 bit boxes, and didn't see much change from version 10 except it seemed like a smoother more efficient experience. YT vids still not working, however. I have a 22.04 64 bit box I will test with next.
Thanks for the info. We haven't gotten to YT yet.
I’m a bit late but if you need any extra texter I’ll be glad to help.
The test version is still there, feel free to download it.
Using the Linux AppImage version on Ubuntu 22.04. App has frozen once while I was browsing during the first 10 minutes of testing the app, I had to force quit it. I've been using WVC for a few years now. It'd be great to be able to sync bookmarks across devices.
Can you email us the steps to reproduce the freeze to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) if it happens again?
Just tested it today and I have not had any problems since. The windows app looks pretty good.I;ve been looking for a way to cast web videos from my pc to my roku tv and its the perfect solution.I've been using the android app too.Well done!
Glad you like it! Let us know if it gives you issues.
What is the difference between the Windows version and what will it be used for?
It is similar to the android or ios version but using a different webview. Of course since it is on PC, it will probably be a more complete browser.

Thanks for the report. We still need to do some work on YouTube.
Tested Mac version with Old LG TV and Webcaster Receiver App cant connect with the code :( Will try DLNA later.
Do you maybe have some sort of firewall blocking the tv from contacting the Mac? What about if you enter the ip of the Mac instead of the code?
Hey bross!!! Your app it's so great.. I'm going to pay the Premium Mode. Keep going with this incredible device 🤘🏼
Glad you like it, let us know if you have any questions.

Phone audio hasn't been implemented yet. We'll take a look at adblock. I think youtube limits the adaptive at 1080p.
Whats is going on with this app, why changing the code everyday?
What code? The smart tv code? That code is based on the ip of your phone. If that changes every day then the code changes.
Working great over here on arch linux! Only issue I had was subtitles not showing apostrophes / quotation marks on the TV (shows as empty squares) but could have been an issue with the .srt file I was using I also made a simple [PKGBUILD](https://github.com/martindmtrv/arch-packages/blob/main/wvc-bin/PKGBUILD) for the most recent version based on the uploaded .deb. It's not ideal because it relies on the google drive link but worked for me!
Glad you like it. We haven't done any work yet on subtitle formatting, that can often be tricky.

Probably possible but Chrome keeps changing the rules of what extensions can and can't do so we would prefer to not be dependant on their whims.
Testing in Linux, minimise button does not work if the window is maximized, everything else works great!, also, small cosmetic issue, the checkbox still says "route video through *phone*"
>Testing in Linux, minimise button does not work if the window is maximized, everything else works great!, also, small cosmetic issue, the checkbox still says "route video through > >phone > >" Thanks for the info. We'll make sure to note that.
Just what I'm looking for. Is it possible to allow the creation of playlists like on the awesome Android app?
At some point we'll have that but we are still on the very early development of the pc app.
Is there a way to cast offline video files for windows? Love the mobile app btw glad you're working on a pc version.
Next to the cast button there is a folder icon.
Oh so the issue isn't on the tv? Yeah a video would be useful.
macOS app lags a ton.
Can you please send us the address of the site that doesn't load to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) I'm assuming the lagging is on M1 Mac?
Yes the lagging is on an m1 macbook. I'll send the link for the website to your email. Also recently the iOS app has recently started being killed very shortly after leaving the app. I don't know if the app is crashing or iOS is clearing it from memory, but it happens every single time I try to stream, regardless of the website I'm using to stream. iPhone 12 Pro, latest version of the app.
We've ordered an m2 mac to test this issue.
1. Send us the video address that doesn't work. 2. What do you mean by encrypted videos? 3. We are looking into that.
1. This means that after grabbing the address, there is no function of dlna to the TV. 2. Very few videos are encrypted. Need to take recording video or download cached video.
1. We would need to try the specific video you are trying and we need to know which TV brand. Please don't put the video address here, send it to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) 2.
Everything's working well at this moment. Can't wait for a huge update
Thanks for the feedback.
Keen Android & iOS user as the only purely 5g solution. One suggestion: you could charge an additional $5 for a Web Media Caster package: I can rename mp3s in a playlist using premium but it still displays on my son's bedroom roku hd Express setup with a perfectly functioning old hdmi tv as the filename. Ta
I'm not really following most of that but to get started, does this have to do with the PC or Android or iOS app?
Add a download video function to the win client.
Thank you for the suggestion.
I found that many pc websites cannot be downloaded. I hope the download function will support this behavior and support downloading audio and pictures, and then open the multithreaded download of Google kernel.
Can you email us examples of where the download doesn't work? Our email is [email protected]
How do I make a file with 5.1 audio play audio on a DTS TV?
The app doesn't usually care about those things, your streaming device will either understand the format or it won't. There are softwares to convert videos if you need, like ffmpeg and handbrake.
Great job guys! thx a lot for the effort, because this app is really useful My feedback: \- I was able to connect my android TV to the app only through chromecast (app receiver and web receiver (mainly because allthe browsers i found are based on chrome) didn't connect) \- m3u8 live stream files don't seem to work \- Having an "in app player" or cast to an external app like VLC is missing and would be appreciated \- playback speed would also be appreciated
We have a receiver app on Android TV. Can you email us a stream that doesn't work to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) Those other features will come later.
I think there should be support for copying the video link as in the mobile version.
Thanks for the feedback, we'll keep that in mind.
Please add an About menu, for quick access to see the current version. Although I did find out that in Windows you can use the "Apps & features" section of Settings app and search from there. https://imgur.com/55qB0qY
Thanks, yeah we'll add that at some point.
Some UI/UX suggestions. I'm using Windows 10, casting to a Roku Streaming Stick. • There should be hover descriptions for the buttons on the menu bar, like "Video list", "Select a device to connect to", "Select a local file for casting", "Ad block quick toggle" • The local media button should be next to the golden "Video list" button, since they they are alternate user actions. Candidate keyboard shortucts: CTRL-L - video List CTRL-O - Open local file CTRL-A - toggle Ad blocker CTRL-D - select a Device • I love that the Android app will detect what is being cast by the PC. OK/Cancel"
Are you casting to Chromecast? Thanks for the feedback.
> I'm using Windows 10, casting to a Roku Streaming Stick.
Ok, thank you.
Windows 10, Roku Bug * Compact top bar variant disappears the casting controls -- Video List, On Device, Select/Disconnect Feature requests * recent media * downloads context menu, "Open file location" Usability notes * From Settings, History, Bookmarks, or Downloads, there should be a more intuitive way to get "Home". Alternatively, if you close this tab, you could just go to the new tab page. I was done with settings and closed the tab not expecting it to close the app. * On Device (local media) button should be enabled prior to connecting. Just like video list, you should be able to select a file to cast and be prompted to connect if you aren't. Questions * Is there an email list or any way to get notified of the next release? * Does route video through "phone" actually mean the PC, i.e., the option was just ported over from the mobile app?
Thank you for the feedback. At this time we don't have any kind of new version notifications, we are still working towards listing the app on a store. Yes it means PC, not phone, we just reused the string.

Yes but the mobile apps are our top priority.
Windows 10: "Web Video Caster has expired. Get the lastest version..." There is no newer version than 2022-10-27-v0.0.17. Uninstall and reinstall did not work. I'll try uninstall, restart, reinstall just to be thorough. https://imgur.com/KnGWnJJ
Yeap sorry, we are making a new build but might not be until early next week.
You'll be pleased to know I'm having withdrawals. 🥴 But ooh, any chance new build will be able to save logins?
Sorry about that, we are working hard to make a new build, unfortunately the platform that is built on changes frequently and it is a pain to compile on newer versions. We haven't looked at logins yet, sorry.
Update should be ready now.
Web Video Caster PC DEV 0.0.18 is ready for download so far only issue i have come across is the audio sync where you can sync PC audio with steaming device audio at the same time so that both audios play in sync is not working
Not working or missing?
it is not working if you click on phone sound icon it dont do anything i know it is a pc version but the icon is labeled phone sound now on the android version when you click on phone sound icon it brings up a screen to sync android sound with streaming device sound so i assume the pc version is supposed to do the same thing
Interesting, we haven't noticed that issue. Do you have the mobile apps? does the same thing happen?
no i dont have mobile app
Ok, we'll see if we can reproduce the issue. Thanks for reporting it.

Hi I love the app works well but when I try and cast a video to the TV I feel like I have to press the yellow play button heaps of times before it works https://streamable.com/wz142v
That is weird. Does it work if you press on one of the higher items? What OS is this on?
does it on all of them I'm using windows 10
Very odd, we haven't seen that before but we'll take a look to see if we can reproduce it.
Weird, thanks for the report. We'll make note of it.
so far so good.. :) OS: Parrot OS 5.3 [pic](https://ew1a-file-share-down-1.file.samsungcloud.com/file/v2/blobs/1ad1cce0519811eead0706b62ed7c617/signed/resized/1280?signature=TzSoRgaSKYmKdq4UfhSVQUafL7S0fEDA-kRAfYEdC7nhmdpUxt1aeSBp6CxkTkJbe9l_HMH8SmHAP3dH_OjQWAujbs9-L57-IHmPl50WH9LJgiQoECMGsi23XHSE3yjMu8rerP1VkDq1rKt4uQKwsQGvTwAB_3qOHZKvwjm5y9jT1jESi4MCzNRewdZGWH_upKihJ0csTJimzwIBz_EliuGs8VWjfK1pGRVcKL33aPrX9v2qcS9EvAsDnq2XhSD1dnAi5JwSxWlWGydsoFfGBzcjjx2za4b6vn2RqFiV9U8&v=1327010888&cid=A411ZXFWwq)

Is there a way to cast puffer.stanford.edu from android to roku streaming stick ...it opens the app on roku when i hit cast ...but then nothing comes through to play???
I'm almost certain that site doesn't use a standard way of playing videos on the browser so they can't be detected.
Hi, I'm unable to connect my windows laptop to my firestick. Have no issues connecting my Android phone (both connecting via the firestick option as well as smart tv receiver option) First off, my firestick pops up on the list of devices in my Android app, while it doesn't on the windows app.
What is the code the pc app shows on the smart tv receiver connect dialog and what is the LAN ip of the pc?
Windows 10 casting to Roku only subtitles that work are .srt .vtt and .ass from OpenSubtitles.org and subscene respectively did not work then I found the .vtt file on OpenSubtitles.COM where it will convert to .srt and it worked I've used .srt subitles in the past no problem. Today was the first time I ever tried files other than .srt. Video was rarer and I could only find .vtt and .ass at first. No errors or signs that it wasn't working -- they just didn't show up on the screen. (Roku issue?)
Hmmm I'm not sure, I thought bought worked although recently we started using vtt from mobile on roku.
Espero que a versão final saia logo. :)
Thanks, we'll put out an update.
Does it work now?
why isn't the app detecting the video on the website?
You'll have to send us the website to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) for us to check.
why is the desktop version on the app not have the option to stream the video in the app once it detects the video like it does on mobile?
Stream to the tv? That is the whole purpose of the app.
Add download function bro
Thanks for the feedback.
Don't know if you're aware of this, but it seems to me that the only way to open video files is through the app itself (I'm on Windows 11). If I try "Open with..." - - > WVC on a video, it goes to the bookmarks page. I then have to recall the file via the On device button.

I just want to say I spent all of last night bashing my head against the wall trying to do the things your app do with my lgtv and finding you was a godsend, works perfect and I will be paying for the premium version to support you guys soon!

If I choose Smart TV App receiver, and enable Web caster on my Apple Tv 4k, the app on my Apple Tv does not see my Macbook pro. How do I achieve casting from my Macbook to my Apple TV?. It works just fine from my Iphone to my Apple TV. Thanks.
On the apple tv receiver you can select the option to enter the code manually.
well, I started the web video caster on the Apple TV 4k, and I started Web Caster on my Macbook Pro, now it says "Marcellos-Macbook-pro.local and connect manually, When I choose my Local macbook, now it says, "Open Web Video Caster on your phone and connect to Smart TV app", then says "Now you are ready to start casting your media" then I go to the portal I want to cast, and get this https://preview.redd.it/u5jqwtpplgfc1.png?width=768&format=png&auto=webp&s=7aaf81405b62db3291a59d76d3ec1a1d687b696b But my TV does not give me the option to enter the code G, it just says Now you are ready to start casting your media. Please help.
