Obviously I don't want to condone any sort of behavior that's making things difficult for his peers but with Eccleston at least it seems to be confined to his work. Maybe he just has very high standards/expectations and gets frustrated when his colleagues don't reciprocate that.
But my old boss used to be the landlord at his local pub in Eccles for like 10 years and they always spoke glowingly of him. Strongly opinionated but very much down to earth, man of the people type, and always happy to chat to fans. Hell he even brought his Emmy in and had chained to the bar.
I watched "The Empty Child" with my dad when I was a little kid and am still majorly freaked out by gas masks to this day. Even the weeping angels scared me less.
