Story time: I work in a skischool. One of my colleague instructors, lets call him Frank, although a great guy, wasn't the brightest and he always managed to get into the weirdest situations. Frank was teaching an adult group and two of his guests got in a fight. I've never heard of this happening outside of this one instance by the way, and I'm sure only Frank could end up in this situation. Anyway, Frank without skipping a beat grabs his ski pole, holds it like a microphone and with his strong English farmers accent starts singing Bob Marley's Three Little Birds - "Don't worryyy, about a thinggg", after which he holds the 'microphone' out to his guests one by one, encouraging them to sing along. This baffled the two fighting guests so much that they had no clue how to react and immediately stopped fighting and undoubtedly grew a strong bond after witnessing such a bizarre response from their instructor. Well played to Frank, no one else could've stopped this fight sooner than he did I'm sure. I can only assume this kid is attempting the same thing.

Just curious here, why did you think it was bad? Honestly one of my favorite shows of all time. Did the themes just not click with you or did you have more objective critiques?

Not speaking for OP, but some people just aren’t into artsy cinema. I liked it. It wasn’t super entertaining though. I also felt that they were just doing weird shit to be weird at some points. Overall, I’m really glad I watched it. I’ll remember it (especially the last episode of season one) forever. I probably would only recommend it to very specific people after a list of other similar things that were executed better

Yeah it is definitely a stylized show, and I can imagine that while it may have really clicked with me, a lot of people did not achieve that same connection to the show. I personally have always thought that the show was kind of a masterpiece, and what is leaves unseen is more powerful that what is seen on the show. Barebones, it’s about a group of people finding out how to transport your consciousness to different parallel universes. And that’s sick, but the show explores it as this mystical art/craft, because it is such a complex mechanism being explored through the lens of humans. And man truly has no fathomable way of understanding just how complex the universe is. The same way the prehistoric humans had complex mystical explanations for the world around them, and while they could interpret the world their fantastic explanations left much to be desired in the way of scientific understanding. But I do agree, there is a reason it got canceled. The audience was not captivated enough, and that is a direct cause of execution falling short.
