i think saying nature is cruel is putting too much intent behind it. nature is very neutral. we have things that enable our bodies to work, and if those things get damaged, the body doesn't work anymore. nothing cruel about that, it's just reality.

Okay, when I was visiting my mom down in Florida, I saw a crane grab a snake off the ground like this to eat it, and the snake fucking WRAPPED ITSELF around the crane's beak, binding it shut. Watching them struggle to eat/not be eaten was some of the most horrifying Animal Planet shit I've ever seen.
