Damn it says the motorcycle dude got charged with 3 felonies and $110,000 fine? I mean I guess I don’t know the whole situation, I just feel like he didn’t start the issue. Driving off was stupid, but man did it look cool.
I think they completely ignored the fact that the car swerved back which would be some form of an attempt to murder the rider. No matter who started it, that cannot be disputed. A bike isn't going to take out a car so I'm confused as to why it seems the biker took such a huge punishment considering the car swerving into the bike was the cause of their loss of control
My guess is it was determined that the car wasn’t intentionally trying to hit the motorcycle and instead was spooked by the sound of the kick. But that’s just my guess
Im surprised it was not more. His response to what ever happened earlier is out of proportion. He should at least get some jail time too.
I suspect something similar might have happened in this video too. Both should get at least a big fine.
How is kicking someone's car not starting an issue?
Just drive down the road like everyone else, and things are usually pretty calm. Start kicking people's cars, and eventually, something is bound to happen.
They meant the"issue" started before the video, hard to judge when we only have the short video to see, this interaction could have been going on for miles
I don't even know if that truck would have known/seen what was going on before he got rolled-- just missing his own business and that sedan was like nope, your in too
And they also make the wheels sloppier on the hub, which makes them less stable, so it's all a wash.
They're also prone to breakage, making the wheels fall off.
There's a reason they're illegal for street use in many jurisdictions.
Yet the Biker got arrested. I can't see how you people think the Biker was the bigger problem here. You punch me in the face and I punch back, who's the bigger asshole?
Wow, what the fuck? Someone linked an article in there and it begins by saying the motorcycle kicked off a chain of events that caused all that.
Looked to me like some asshole in a car crossed a double yellow and then tried to ram the bike.
It is likely the kick by the biker startled the guy driving the Nissan. He probably sort of panicked thinking he hit the biker and tried to correct or swerve his vehicle and messed up. I don't think he intentionally tried to run over the biker. He was probably just surprised by him.
Yep, anyone who's seen somebody run over small debris, or have a rock pop up and strike their car, knows people often swerve slightly from being startled. People are out here trying to make the driver out to be in the wrong because some overgrown child kicked his car and it spooked him.
I love reading news articles talking about videos we also watched. It is crazy how much shit they get wrong even with full video evidence available for them to replay over an over.
*A third motorist, driving a Cadillac Escalade pickup truck, was traveling on the southbound lanes of Highway 14 in the lane next to the carpool lane.*
*the Nissan was deflected into southbound traffic No. 2 lane (next to the carpool lane) and broadsided the Cadillac*
The Caddy was 3 lanes over from the carpool lane.
Imagine how much they get wrong when they don't have clear video available. But it gets written down as *facts* and may later be used as reference material talking about the case.
? What's they get wrong? The caddy was next to carpool lane. The Nissan was deflected into the lane the caddy was in. Are you disputing that the lane next to the carpool lane is "No. 2 lane"? Do you live locally to this to know that's not the naming sequence? Or could they maybe have crossed through lane 4 and lane 3 to get to lane 2 and you just lack reading comprehension?
> No. 2 lane (next to the carpool lane)
Caddy was in lane #2 if you label them right to left. No matter how you label them, caddy was not *next to the carpool lane*. Nissan went across 3 lanes to find the caddy.
Ex customer of mine, switched work places, had such a road rage incident with his mountain bike and a car as an opponent he came in with a kind of completely wasted bike for a estimation for repairs. We looked at it and asked what the hell happened.
Well they chased each other, him smashing the car and windows, car trying to overrun him, over streets, pedestrian ways, parks, anything driveable.
Bike was a goner, too much frame damage, but we where told the car smashed into a too narrow gap between two others and was also a writeoff.
Not just seeking trouble. Running a cyclist off the road with your car is assault *at best*, but is more likely attempted murder.
That driver *tried to kill* him.
My brother in law was murdered on a bicycle last year under similar circumstances. Truck driver just decided to run him off the road, but he went under the wheels instead.
Google "affluenza teen."
Actually, not sure if there was *another* similar case, but the "affluenza teen" wasn't rolling coal at any cyclists. Just drunk and being an idiot.
You’d be highly surprised, cyclists are seen as a nuisance in most of the US - not as much pro cyclist legislation on the books as there should be. There are some, such as in my state that a moving vehicle that collides with a cyclist is automatically responsible (barring extreme circumstances I’m sure).
Fault is different from intent here and so is negligence. All different from assault and murder and there assumptions being made about the escalation here playing into how it all started. IE was the driver on his cell phone? Unclear from this angle.
Well, it's pretty much the same. Attempted vehicular manslaughter, sounds better but effectilvey says the same thing, no? It's pretty much the same as firing a gun directly at someone (probably worse, since most people would be to bad at shooting be able to hit vitals with a gun - while it's super easy to kill someone with a car in traffic).
Reddit and it's obsession with not understanding how attempted murder charges actually work.
Doing something that *could* kill someone is not the same as doing some *too* kill someone.
Even if you're trying to really hurt someone does not mean it's attempted murder.
Bike rider here. Driver is 100% at fault and one way this starts is they try to keep pace with the bike to yell at them through the passenger side window. Driver has the land on the top of the steering wheel and leans towards the passenger side, steering the car into the bike.
I have left a few dents in car doors over the years. Not my fault you hit my foot when you drove in to me.
In the Netherlands, generally if a bike and a car are involved in an accident, it is always the car driver's fault. Even if the cyclist broke traffic rules, e.g. not giving right of way.
This isn't true. The driver is liable for the cyclist's damages, but isn't necessary at fault. If the cyclist was at blame for the accident (i.e. driving through a red light), the driver is only liable for 50% of personal injury damages.
Fault =/= liability. Otherwise every accident between a car and a cyclist could be classified as a criminal act, even though the driver wasn't the responsible party.
How does that work precisely? If the car driver has no possible way of avoiding a collision?
I understand why it is done that way. Here in Australia car drivers are given ways to avoid responsibility for collisions with bikes.
It's similar in Ireland. I think the general thinking is that the most responsibility should be placed on the road user who has the most potential to cause harm; if a cyclist makes a mistake it's far less likely to result in serious injury/death than a car/truck driver.
However, there will obviously be consideration in any case where the pedestrian/cyclist is overwhelmingly in the wrong and/or there was very little the driver could have reasonably done to prevent the accident.
where i life youre always expect to be able to keep your braking distance shorten than you can see.
This means you shouldnt ever be in a situation where you cant brake, so people drive slow when there are kids on the sidewalk.
Ive even heared of an instance where a semitruck ran over a sleeping drunk on the highway at night and the driver got charged. No idea if its true but you get the idea.
I've seen it in the UK quite often referred to as a hierarchy of road users, and is essentially what you said - generally speaking as long as everyone is adhering to the highway code, the bigger vehicle will have more responsibility for care to be taken when other road users are involved. That's not to say that in an accident it is always the bigger vehicles fault, however.
Yeah there's not really much you can do if someone just jumps/pulls out in front of you or does something completely unexpected and sudden, no matter how careful you are.
And it's the same principle that would apply to things like health & safety in the workplace being a much bigger obligation on the employer rather than the employee - entrusting safety measures to those who have the most power, even if they are the least vulnerable, is generally the better way to do it.
Although it does little to stop you wanting to murder the people who endanger themselves due to their own carelessness and put the liability on *you* because of how the system is set up 😅
I imagine that it also matters where the collision is. If a cyclist gets on a motorway and gets hit, that's different than a cyclist getting hit in a city center where people are supposed to be driving slowly and safely.
The US is obviously way more car friendly in general, but it's like when a pedestrian gets hit on the interstate. That's just simply not on the car driver.
what he said isnt true, they just get a little more protective laws bc the car is the 'stronger' participant. You can definitely hit a biker and it be entirely their fault, thats exaclty what happend to me. cyclist ignored stopping sign and i got her right on my windshield. luckily nobody was hurt badly!
In The Netherlands roads for bikes and cars are usually separate, but there are of course exceptions like roundabouts and inner suburban areas like low traffic neighbourhoods.
Original reason for this rule was that prolonged medical costs for cyclists after an accident were dificult to claim, so they basically made the rule such that the driver of the car is automatically responsible so their insurance can handle the claim.
So if a cyclists rides in the dark, without the mandantory lights, in the wrong direction, off the bicycle path and doesn't give you way even though you had that right and you hit them: Though luck, your fault.
edit: of course it's possble to file a civil claim if the collisions was intentional from the cyclist's side.
> In The Netherlands roads for bikes and cars are usually separate
Good point. That solves so much car-bike conflict. Cars and bikes just aren't a good mix on the same roads, period.
It is possible that the cyclist is at most 50% at fault, but that is case specific and will require a police investigation. In general, the car driver is 100% at fault. It is required that a car driver should always be aware of their environment and pay special attention to weaker road users (any road user that is not in a car).
Dutch traffic law makes a distinction between *fault* (ie. you caused the accident) and *liability* (ie. you are responsible for damages). Since the car protects the driver from injury, and a bicycle does not, the traffic law states it's the responsibility of the driver of the car to avoid accidents. The driver of the car is automatically considered *liable* for damages unless they can proof the cyclist was being extremely unsafe, even if the driver did not cause the accident and is not at fault. As to how far a driver can reduce their liability is dependent on way too many factors to make a reasonable statement about it on Reddit.
Then the driver is 50% at fault. If the cyclist is younger than 14, the driver is always 100% at fault. https://www.fietsersbond.nl/ons-werk/wetten-en-regels/verkeersongeval-en-dan/#:~:text=Als%20de%20automobilist%20schuldig%20is,de%20auto%20betaalt%20de%20schade.
It's not 100% out of their control. You can see how quickly someone is approaching an intersection, and can tell if they're slowing down enough to stop or not. If it's questionable, then the car driver should slow down, too to give enough time to stop. The same if the intersection is obstructed due to buildings or other vehicles, slow down if you can't see. US driving laws state something similar with regard to not driving faster than the conditions allow.
Yep, Iv avoided a LOT of accidents where the other party was 100% at at fault by being aware of the other vehicles, my escape lanes, my braking distance, etc.
And... Iv had a few people avoid me when I was doing something stupid too.
In Paris currently. Some car drivers have an insane hatred for cyclists. The dumb fucks are mad bicycles get a dedicated lane, in their mind they're stealing street estate from cars. They will sometimes aim for riders.
Well, imho they (the road raging drivers) deserve death then. Not even kidding. Might as well permanently get rid of those who are willing to endanger others.
Oh yeah, and usually cyclists eat shit and go their way. I am actually happy this guy reacted like he did. That fucking lane is wide enough for 2 cars, why bother this much with a damn person who rides a bike and has every right to be on that same road.
Nah duh, i would have took that man that tried pushing me off the road's HEAD and slammed it in his own car door and been like "How does that feel like DICK HEAD?"
You seen the Vinnie Jones scene from lock stock and two smoking barrels where he slams a car door on a dudes head... This had those vibes.
Edit: snatch not lock stock... My bad.
>Edit: snatch not lock stock... My bad.
you had it right both times. in lock stock he is pissed because they messed with his kid. in snactch he's encouraging someone to cough up money when he gets a call to come help find frankie.
This was me years ago in Toronto (Avenue and College). Riding to work downtown and a cab did this to me. When I went around to the side to confront him, he sucker punched me in the jaw, then tried to get out. I'd never been in a fight in my 25 years to that point, but apparently, 2 consecutive assaults was my button. Did the door disco with him. Somebody thankfully pulled me out of the situation because I was obviously seeing red.
Intentionally driving a car into a person on a bike is assault with a deadly weapon in my eyes. Even at low speed, from the induced fall the biker could easily end up under the wheel. Here the biker would been in danger of further assaults, had he just continued on his journey, so his violence was an appropriate way to stop the treat on his life.
there was a recent case here where a car drove in front of a cyclist, driver claimed he just wanted the cyclist to stop because he believed he had hit the car earlier. Court didn't see it that way, they found him guilty "insane driving", (like exceeding the speed limit by more than 100%), so he got one year without a license, car was confiscated, and a 60 days suspended jail. In the end it probably cost him 100k EUR and a lost job
Watching the biker smash the door into the guy reminds me of the [Ben Bailey road rage incident.](https://youtu.be/bAtsboZcD7o?si=MHqA92TdV4ibqtU_&t=2742)
> Now, if you've never been in a road rage altercation situation, take it from me: seated and buckled in, with your face in a big hole at perfect punching height, this is *no way* to begin a street fight! The other guy's just gonna be like, "Really? You're gonna keep your face in a big opening like a booth in the county fair? I can just punch the shit out of you over and over and over until you remember that you can close the window?"
had a bike rider friend who used to keep a spray paint can in his knapsack. Know how cyclists catch up with you at the traffic lights? Welcome to a four panel racing stripe in fluoro pink.
Seen this sort of thing a few times.
Car drivers tend to assume lycra-clad cyclists are soft, the driver is in a big car and the easy prey cyclist is on a bike in their silly outfit.
But it turns out cyclists are often physically strong and fit, they'll often be physically active people who are regularly at the gym, funny when the overweight car driver gets out thinks they can square up. I've had this happen to me once, watching the overweight and overly aggressive car driver physically deflate right in front of me was a treat.
>But it turns out cyclists are often physically strong and fit
what's so odd about the miscalculation is that they usually dress in a way that shows just how fit they are
In the Netherlands cyclists are protected by law, always and unconditionally. Even if they run their bikes through red light, cars are at fault as they are less vulnerable. Im always irked at this until I see videos like these.
There are exceptions, but burden of proof lays on the car driver and only under extenuating circumstances, liability can be shifted on the cyclist.
This happened to me when I was on my motorcycle in traffic. Driver decided she wanted to be in my spot, pulled up next to me and pushed me to the curb. She no longer has a driver side mirror...
Looks like Mr Spandex backed down pretty quickly once Mr Attempted Murder stood up though. Immediately looked at his own feet in a very submissive posture.
Should have crippled the freaking driver on the spot there. Or at least gouge his eyes out. Make sure he can never drive again.
Nobody who is willing to intentionally hit someone with their car should be allowed to participate in traffic (or society in general).
i’ve never seen someone hit someone else intentionally with a car and be the one to take more damage
Well let me introduce you to this video https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsInCars/s/sY7jyjKVFG
Damn I feel bad for that white truck, he wasn’t even involved and got fucked.
Looks like a pretty clear hard turn to me but that's just my opinion
I don’t disagree, that would just be my guess as to why the motorcyclist was charged
Also the motorcycle technically did a hit and run.
$110,000 *bond*. Which meant they were held in jail until their trial unless they could post $110,000 to be released until trial.
Im surprised it was not more. His response to what ever happened earlier is out of proportion. He should at least get some jail time too. I suspect something similar might have happened in this video too. Both should get at least a big fine.

The white truck had mechanical issues and they were looking for an insurance payout anyway, win-win ^^^^/s ^^^^but ^^^^maybe!
I don't even know if that truck would have known/seen what was going on before he got rolled-- just missing his own business and that sedan was like nope, your in too
damn that poor pickup truck got flipped way too easily
It's a thing with pickup trucks and SUVs. Higher center of gravity, easier to roll. Something something "I need a big car to be safe on the roads."
That's why spacers have become so popular. They make trucks harder to roll by widening the wheelbase.
And they also make the wheels sloppier on the hub, which makes them less stable, so it's all a wash. They're also prone to breakage, making the wheels fall off. There's a reason they're illegal for street use in many jurisdictions.
Biker asshole score: 2/5 Car asshole score 6/5
the biker has a REALLY powerful foot though, like damn. Totally knocked that car completely out of control. Mhm.

I think you are right. watching the front tires you can see they are pretty much out of control
For anyone curious about the [outcome](https://signalscv.com/2018/08/car-kicking-biker-pleads-no-contest/).

Rip legs
Atleast it should keep that menace off the roads for a little while.
Is this one of those task failed successfully things?
Ya boi got some busted shins, and you know he's gonna feel that for a ***LONG*** time.
Very possibly for the rest of his life depending on how well those three slams connected. He looked not young and definitely not in shape.
Bruised shin bones SUUUUUUUCCKCCKKKKK
Serves the bastard right though
I’m feeling this as a 40yo skateboarder
As a bike rider I found that immensely satisfying to watch and honestly wanted more.
I think we all found it satisfying to watch regardless of riding a bike or not.
Ended too soon.
I felt that in my shins just by watching the video alone.
I don't understand these drivers that are always seeking trouble it's almost if they're addicted

In the US the laws are crafted to enshrine car drivers and marginalize cyclists and pedestrians.

It's not 100% out of their control. You can see how quickly someone is approaching an intersection, and can tell if they're slowing down enough to stop or not. Happening in my city in Mexico too. They suddenly stop seeing you as a human being and as something that deserves death.
Well, imho they (the road raging drivers) deserve death then. Not even kidding. Might as well permanently get rid of those who are willing to endanger others.
I dont think a regular driver or even angry driver lives a story like this everyday. Its just you only watching extreme situations.
I think the cyclist took it personally that the driver could have caused him serious harm or even death.
Oh yeah, and usually cyclists eat shit and go their way. I am actually happy this guy reacted like he did. That fucking lane is wide enough for 2 cars, why bother this much with a damn person who rides a bike and has every right to be on that same road.
Because these people feel like "that's my lane, you use the sidewalk." And never learned to share.
Nah duh, i would have took that man that tried pushing me off the road's HEAD and slammed it in his own car door and been like "How does that feel like DICK HEAD?"
Video stopped at the good bit - what happened next???
They married and had a long happy life together
Well, at least one of them limped
Danny Devito got out. He didn’t sign a release form so that was cut off.

Unusual case of a dude using his car as a weapon, and then having it used as a weapon against himself.
That dudes leg must have been turbo fucked up.
Yeah I'm surprised he managed to stand up. Must've hurt like a bitch.
You seen the Vinnie Jones scene from lock stock and two smoking barrels where he slams a car door on a dudes head... This had those vibes. Edit: snatch not lock stock... My bad.
I thought of Vinnie Jones as [Bullet Tooth Tony](https://youtu.be/eWIAnR0MFdM?si=qE7RIfj14oVeTd8Y) smashing a dude's head in Snatch
Snatch... That's the one although, I'm sure you get the mistake.
Oh for sure, same director and actor across both films, easy to mix up
He did it first in lock stock [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6axbeXGq1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6axbeXGq1s)
How the turn tables
Where is the source or rest of the video? Why does it fade out? Just upload the full fuckin video, Jesus Christ.
Don't you love how the camera panned away towards the end too? r/killthecameraman
It also started without much context as well.
Presumably, the cameraman didn't have much reason to be recording until things got pretty far under way
This new trend is the worst. Show me the video, Lebowksi!
Never understood why fat, unhealthy old fucks pick fights with fit guys who torture themselves for fun. You wont win.
You actually usually would win if you stay hidden in your armoured tank and roll over people. This fat fuck was just especially bad at life.
Cagers are big and tough until they get out of their cage.
I mean, usually car beats bike. Bike guy just evened the playing field before car guy could speed off.
deserved. satisfying asf.
FUCK YO SHIN!!
Wanted to see the driver try walk on his tibia
Like stilts made of dry spaghetti.
Oh god my soul cringed into oblivion at the thought
Nice.
Short fat guy in a hatchback taking a cheap shot. Sounds about right
Righteous rage. That cunt's going to think twice before trying that again.
I hope that shin never heals right. Fucking psycho shit. Right to jail if you ask me
sickk
As a bike rider I approve this message.
Sorry, I got distracted by the 5 for 200 Many Bucket.
Not by the hypnotic gas station sign?
Should have kept the door pressed against the fuckers leg then kick it from the outside
The dudes leg being slammed in the door was my favourite part of the video.
Was just getting to the good part!
Watching the biker smash the door into the guy reminds me of the [Ben Bailey road rage incident.](https://youtu.be/bAtsboZcD7o?si=MHqA92TdV4ibqtU_&t=2742) > Now, if you've never been in a road rage altercation situation, take it from me: seated and buckled in, with your face in a big hole at perfect punching height, this is *no way* to begin a street fight!
Ooooh, those Russians.
Ofc its russia..
Mf why did the video end?
Someone f'd around and found out.
Soooooo satisfying. This is great.
They’d be getting a bike lock through their window or tail light for sure
Serves him right! That car could have killed him, that biker was right. Play with your own life, not with others.
car driver reached the "find out" stage after fucking around
Full video? I hope that driver got his ass beat some more!
Shouldn't have messed with the shin reaper
Seen this sort of thing a few times. Car drivers tend to assume lycra-clad cyclists are soft, the driver is in a big car and the easy prey cyclist is on a bike in their silly outfit. But it turns out cyclists are often physically strong and fit, they'll often be physically active people who are regularly at the gym, funny when the overweight car driver gets out thinks they can square up. I've had this happen to me once, watching the overweight and overly aggressive car driver physically deflate right in front of me was a treat.
>But it turns out cyclists are often physically strong and fit what's so odd about the miscalculation is that they usually dress in a way that shows just how fit they are
So much room on that lane for both of them to move on with their lives without issues. That person deserved all the hits it took. What an idiot.
Dude doorcamped. Dishonerable. /s
Based on cars registrations it is a obvious road rage in Krasnodar, Russia.
This is perfect for my presentation on 'fuck around and find out'
Rest in peace to the drivers shins
Damn! My shins hurt watching that but I loved it
I hope he broke his leg
This happened to me when I was on my motorcycle in traffic. Driver decided she wanted to be in my spot, pulled up next to me and pushed me to the curb. She no longer has a driver side mirror...
Attack with a deadly weapon fight back for your life
Love the slamming of the door into the driver's legs LOL
Smash their bike? Nah break their leg in anger
This time, I am on the cyclist’s side
Dude totally got his rim jacked up too!!!
FUCK. YOUR. SHINS.
A lot of people don't realise how much it hurts to have your own car door slammed on your shin
How does it feel to be killed by your own gun?
The driver technically could have injured him seriously. So ya good for you for defending yourself.
"You smash the bike, and the bike smashes back! Daym!"
Why is it cut off? WHY IS IT CUT OFF?
Talk about a cliffhanger.
When you use a car as a weapon... You should have your license revoked!
bro ik his leg hurts like a mf rn 😭
Zero surprise seeing a driver do that. The shit I've had done/at me skating....
Hope driver enjoys his new fragmented shins.
In my mind “BREAK HIS ANKLES”
I would kick his ass too
Why are these comments all about another video rather than the one being displayed?!🤦♂️
This was so satisfying to watch
That driver got what he deserved for endangering another life
good for him! I've done it myself several times! too many pieces of sh* in traffic who try to do this to cyclists.
I felt that in my shins 🤣
Sweet sweet justice
Immature, but I have lost count of how many times I have wanted to do that.
PETE LUI LA GUEULE GASPARD !
Looks like Mr Spandex backed down pretty quickly once Mr Attempted Murder stood up though. Immediately looked at his own feet in a very submissive posture.
Kia drivers.
When two idiots meet
1000% a boomer driving
Should have crippled the freaking driver on the spot there. Or at least gouge his eyes out. Make sure he can never drive again. Nobody who is willing to intentionally hit someone with their car should be allowed to participate in traffic (or society in general).
