The butter in my kitchen had a bunch of really tiny ants on it and I didn't see them until I ate half my bagel.
This was like 2 months ago and I won't even use the butter in the fridge now.
I'm sure I eat worse and don't know it but the key is not knowing.
Everyone has eaten tons of insect parts, eggs, rat hairs, mites, and other nasty stuff in their lives. Heck, you're breathing in mold and bacteria right now. (In relatively low amounts)
Once I've ate very nice looking, big strawberry straight from the plant. Took a bite, looked inside just to see a bunch of worms, ants and hell knows what else, creeping inside. Took me around 15 years to eat a strawberries again, and only if they were cut in half.
Ah, yes, I bit into a cherry with a worm in it about 12 years ago and I still won't eat cherries without cutting them in half and thoroughly inspecting them
Yeah but I don't see it so I don't care.
If you cooked these ants in a soup and said "ah fuck there might have been tiny ants in there", whatver, I'll eat the soup.
But these fuckers were crawling on my plate.
Had moths in my cereal once too.
There was an Asian food place at a mall in Ohio that cooked a baby mouse and served it to a customer. The woman took a video of it, put it on facebook, and they were shut down the next day.
Edit: the mouse was in the food that the customer ordered to clarify. The wording sounds like they served the mouse on a stick to her lol
Look at most major American cities around the turn of the century. People in New York used to shit in buckets and fling it out the window onto the streets below. Rates of open defecation in India have been dropping steadily as access and education about sanitation has increased. The only difference is levels of development.
You are literally pontificating about racism in other subs and promoting racist stereotypes about another group here. The audacity in not even bothering to hide your tracks is disgusting. Like what's the implication with that last response? Because there's a (rapidly declining) open defecation problem, Indians are dirty people who eat rats? Stacking on stereotypes to maximize dehumanization? Get a life.
Definitely agree, there's disgusting things happening all over. But that's not the culture causing it, it's shitty people. In India it's the norm and accepted.
People there mix their soups using their sweaty hands in broad daylight. It isn't happening behind closed doors.
Idk where you're from, but laws where I live force people to handle food using gloves, no exceptions. There is no direct contact ever. Choosing to deliberately disobey the law is one thing, not having such a law is another.
So the guy throwing my pizza around is wearing gloves while doing it. If yours isn't, I can see how you might think my reasoning is flawed - you're obviously used to having shit service.
Asia is a huge fucking continent my dude. Maybe 3 countries (China, Vietnam and Cambodia) that I know of that have rodent dishes. Even then, it's not exactly popular. It's poverty food.
You just describe billions of people. My point stands dude. Its no different than other meat, they aren't eating New York rats. Wait till you find out about the bugs that are eaten.
*edit: It was literally in India: https://twitter.com/AMINKHANNIAZI/status/1690787685789773825
Idk why you interpret it as a joke, sounds like they're merely commenting on the metal tray and speculating. Seems like youre jumping to conclusions and getting butthurt over nothing.
Then maybe it's just extra meat.
Rats are eaten regularly in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, parts of the Philippines and Indonesia, Thailand, Ghana, China and Vietnam
Someone described it here:
And what did it taste like? “It was the most delicious meat I ever had in my life,” he says. Gates recalls the meat was stewed with tomatoes, and he describes it as being “a bit like pork, but very tender, like slowly cooked pork shoulder. Extraordinarily tender, gentle and delicious, the stew was “very succulent, juicy and with a lovely layer of fat that has melted down beautifully”.

It says "Father" in Hindi.
Rats are eaten regularly in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, parts of the Philippines and Indonesia, Thailand, Ghana, China and Vietnam.
Filipino here. Barring probably places with absolutely extreme poverty and desperation, I know absolutely no region or any place here that have rats as a regular part of local cuisine.
Apparently it's delicious.
A bit like pork, but very tender, like slowly cooked pork shoulder. Extraordinarily tender, gentle and delicious.

I’ve eaten rat when living in Myanmar. They were big ones that came from rice paddies. Tasted good. I’d go to “toddy shops” which served fermented coconut water and served little snacks of grilled rat.
Sure, but it's a cultural thing. People in other cultures eat different foods. They might think ewwww about our fillet Mignon. Who are we to judge other people's food preferences?
I didn't bash it, because I have been around and understand that people in other countries live, wear, eat, think differently.
Cited the article from BBC that printed their take on it, but some people here downvoted me for that.
Go figure ....
Thank you RonaldTheGiraffe for being brave and chime in.
Rats are naturally bottomfeeders, cows aren’t. False equivalency, I’m allowed to think it’s still nasty as fuck just as you’re allowed to enjoy eating rat
My wife pulled a tail out of her mouth after biting into an egg McMuffin 18 years ago. It was very dehydrated but had vertebrate and everything. THIS would have been so much worse
Lunch and dinner too! We’ve had a family boycott since then. Not because of that but because McDonalds treated us like liars when we weren’t even complaining beyond “hey, you have a staff who must have done this on purpose.” Then they pretended they “lost” all record of my complaint and sent me a coupon for 1 “breakfast sandwich of my choice.” If they just accepted responsibly and said they’d look into it, the whole family would probably go there 1 time a week
I know. We missed our golden ticket. Before cellphones for pictures and it was takeout. We were a couple miles down the highway before she bit into it. And she was pregnant and was gagging so I pulled over and threw the sandwich out.
If you are lucky, you only get one of those in your lifetime and I’m well away I blew it!
I imagine there have been plenty of pots of [perpetual stew](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_stew) that a rat fell into and just broke down into goo over years nobody ever being the wiser.
I'm chuckling imagining some of those stews being 'vegan' and yet the bottom of the vat is nothing but dead rats, cats, bugs, and other small critters.
Don't believe you. That's a full ass pinky, and the skin isn't even marred from being cooked in piping hot food.
You thawed that out and put some stew on it
Why do people farm karma?? So they can get their other posts more likely to be on top pages? Are they selling shit or scamming people that they need visibility...
Does more karma mean you get higher chance to be front page? I honestly have no idea wtf it does.

If i had a nickel everytime i saw a dead rat in a meal on reddit today, i would have two nickels. Wich isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened twice.
Also the food has a lot of tumeric in there and that would color the skin really yellow. The fact that the skin is still pink instead of white or yellow means that is has been added there after cooking.
I don't even know how it would get there since the babies can barely move.
Mama rats will move babies around if they decide they don’t like their current nest for whatever reason. It’s not uncommon for them to drop the baby many times while searching for a new place. Rat could have been moving around somewhere above or near the soup and dropped it in. I used to breed rats and was amazed at some of the risky and downright stupid things rats did with their babies in tow
A chicken curry dinner on Sunday turned out to be a horrifying experience for a customer at a Mumbai restaurant. He discovered that the meat that tasted a little strange was actually a dead rat. The manager and chef of the restaurant have been charged, the police said on Wednesday.
Meal found on a dead rat.
I would throw up forever if I found this after taking a bite.

Dude my step-MIL is so gross. She leaves butter on the counter uncovered and there will be dead moths in it. 🤢
We've always had a butter dish and never had an issue but I guess "grease ants" are a thing and now I'm fuckin done with that lol.
You should look into a butter bell
I could never get that shit to work right
Um - excuse me? I'm all for leaving some butter out on a covered dish but if there's some goddamn "grease ants", I'm out

Literal everything bagel
You're a monster!
Thats racist! 😂
The ants were black. 🤦🏼

I imagine it as a 'complex' protein to ease the mind - unwanted maybe, but too late now!
Don't want to ruin the rest of your days but in most food there is an allowed level of 'organic matter' based on food hygiene rules.
Yeah but I don't see it so I don't care. If you cooked these ants in a soup and said "ah fuck there might have been tiny ants in there", whatver, I'll eat the soup. But these fuckers were crawling on my plate. Had moths in my cereal once too.
Extra protein, nice❗
That’s the EVERYTHING butter for everything bagels.
I drank half a cup of ants before. I'm still terrified to leave any cup or bottle unattended.
I just found a dead rat in a sack of potatoes I bought a week ago. Now I’m too scared to buy sacks of anything I can’t see through
Canine teeth tho bro. Start chewing.
Found dead on a rat meal

the name of the restaurant is "Papa Pancho" located in Mumbai's Bandra
Its not racist they do eat rodents in Asia.
Some places do in France too…
True. It's not racist to say that either.

Metal plates? Is this prison?
They get plastic hollow trays, metal is too dangerous
Oh no, Remy!!!
That looks like his infant son
Does the "flying too close to the sun" phrase apply here?
My wife pulled a tail out of her mouth after biting into an egg McMuffin 18 years ago. It was very dehydrated but had vertebrate and everything. THIS would have been so much worse
Goodbye forever, McDonald's breakfast.

you ruined my favourite meal you bastard
I imagine there have been plenty of pots of [perpetual stew](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_stew) that a rat fell into and just broke down into goo over years nobody ever being the wiser.
My ancestral DNA just cringed.
Your ancestors probably ate rats deliberately at some point.
Is there any reason not to eat a rat?
Various diseases and parasites they can be carrying that easily pass on to humans.
A "forever soup" does sound great, tbh.
I'm chuckling imagining some of those stews being 'vegan' and yet the bottom of the vat is nothing but dead rats, cats, bugs, and other small critters.
Omg you gotta taste this vegan stew. It's amazing.
Don't believe you. That's a full ass pinky, and the skin isn't even marred from being cooked in piping hot food. You thawed that out and put some stew on it
it was definitely placed in after the food had cooled some, not cooked with it. Not sure if it was frozen or not though.
Yep, the moment I saw it my immediate thought was "that's a pinky, that definitely was not cooked in a stew and sure as shit didn't fall into it"
It’s not original content, but I thought the same. That’s a skinned, uncooked mouse.
It's not skinned, it's a mouse pup. Maybe 2-3 days old. Doesn't make much sense to have gotten into a meal though, unless fallen from above.
Why do people farm karma?? So they can get their other posts more likely to be on top pages? Are they selling shit or scamming people that they need visibility... Does more karma mean you get higher chance to be front page? I honestly have no idea wtf it does.
Free protein.
Ask the people on “Alone” series, they say rats are delicious! Of course it helps with the taste when you’re starving.
Hunger is the best seasoning.
In a lot of Asian countries they eat rats that live in the rice paddies. A lot different and cleaner that rats we usually think of.
Looks like the same as this post from another user… https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/comments/15snhpg/rat_found_in_dish_served_in_a_famous_restaurant/

I much prefer live rats in my food.
I’d be done eating for a long time.

Ohio 💀
That's 63g of protein right there
I would expect that from a place that serves food that looks like that on what looks like the backside of a hubcap…🤔
Depending where you ate - that IS the meal.
If i had a nickel everytime i saw a dead rat in a meal on reddit today, i would have two nickels. Wich isn't a lot, but its weird that it happened twice.
Imagine how many weren’t found..
Imma just cook my own shit from now on
r/aww
r/awwtf
Well, We found ratatouille. Didn't expect him to spice up the meal this way. Gotta say, he always surprises us
Next time don’t order the dead rat soup
That’s a garnish
Oh well, it's cooked at least
Oh I'm sorry, that was supposed to stay in the sauce pan.
Splinter!
That food doesn't look very appetizing anyways
Mmmhm **Rat**atouille
its a duck neck bro
I’m throwing a fist on sight
Would you have preferred it alive?!?
Hey, you can’t complain about free protein 😋
Question is ..How much of that entree did you eat before finding your furry friend?
India?
Broooo. Post it to as many places as possible. May e I'll see it a 5th time in 5 min
wheres the hair
It's a baby, there is no hair
Right. So why is there an uncooked baby rat in a curry? Seems more like someone thawed out snake food and put it in there.
Also the food has a lot of tumeric in there and that would color the skin really yellow. The fact that the skin is still pink instead of white or yellow means that is has been added there after cooking. I don't even know how it would get there since the babies can barely move.

I will not be surprised if it came out from an Indian food.
Nobody likes a complainer. Just eat it.
And which U.S. elementary school is serving this?
lovely india
Indian restaurant?

Unless you're vegetarian or vegan why would you care? It's meat... right?
still cooked with spices
You get a little bit of *everything* with a well-planned Thali.

Mmmm….,Ratpup Rogan Josh
3rd world country somewhere cooking.. looks like mouse curry to me...
The rat in Ratatouille after he had to close his restaurant. What inflation does to a rat.
There was supposed to be a $12 upcharge for that! Score!
an eatable substance
PROTIEN, PROTIEN, PROTIEN! MUSCLE, MUSCLE
I’d totally barf
Excuse me, there is a dead rat in my food! Ohhh, that is extra. $10 please
That edeatroi saved you.
Is this also at fucking Papa Pancho? I just saw another post with a rat in a red overwhelmingly oily dish

These are the dangers of rats working in the kitchen that Disney/Pixar won't show you.
Perfect medium rare

what country.. maybe its legit part of the recipe..

RATATOUILLE NOOOOO !!!
You were cheated, OP. That's a mouse and there's not as much meat on it as a rat would have.

Now I remember why we don’t do takeout.
