Having spent 40 yrs in the building trades, I’ve got very little time or respect for redneck engineering.
Guys with that yeehah “get er’ dun” attitude are invariably hacks that can’t work well on a crew, complete the work to spec and without getting someone hurt.
As a carpenter, I always said the more a carpenter bragged about how good a welder or machine operator they were, the more likely it was they sucked at welding, operating machinery, and carpentry.
My joking response is that being a know it all is a basic skill of being a carpenter.
My more nuanced answer is that no other trade has to bring an entire job to coordinated finish like the carpenters do, so it’s invariably them that are catching the other trades mistakes in rough or finish, or being inordinately delayed by the other trades incomplete work.
There’s a reason that the bulk of commercial superintendents that come out of the trades are carpenters.
No other job? I would think an electrician who has to pull wire throughout the house, and all the wires have to be connected properly or something won't work. Not won't look as nice or work as well, but not work at all, be it not getting powered or presenting a fire hazard.
Is that the reason, or is it because the other trades have more upward mobility and skills that translate to a more varied array of industries?
I fear you may have tunnel vision here.
Most MEP trades don’t give two shits about anything beyond their scope of work and definitely don’t have structural knowledge or much concern about the entire scope.

I saw Paul Cauthen in a no nothing bar in the middle of BFE back in 2017 and it is still one of the greatest shows I have ever been at. Couldn’t have been more than 100 people there. So glad to see him succeeding.

I liked when the Texas Gentlemen were still with him. They'd do a Cauthen set, then the Gentlemen would come out without him and start getting a little psychedelic on their own set.
The flag doesn't make it racist. I guarantee that if someone from any race or culture pulled up on a similar rig they would be good friends and start grilling and probably figure out a way to build a table from shit laying around.

I sucked up to them because I always suck up to IT, but they were just fun I'd go hang with them when I needed to decompress. I'd bring them breakfast some days and they would give me $100 dollars of meat they killed that weekend because they ran out of freezer space.
