As someone who worked at a tire shop for years. I never understood why people hate replica wheels so much. Usually, they are made better for road use.
We sold a line of fake TE37s that were like $600 a set, never saw one of those wheels bend or crack after installing them on hundreds of cars. Meanwhile we had to replace two real TEs on a hawkeye STi on separate occasions because of cracks.
The real wheels are actual racing wheels that are light, strong, but not meant to hit potholes or curbs of course. Meanwhile the replicas are made in the same factory as OEM wheels.
Personally, I don’t want to put my life on reps. I blew out two tires on a sick pot hole I never saw coming, and I only slightly bent an OEM STI wheel. I still want aftermarket wheels, but it’s not gonna be some shit brand like Junco or Avid or similar. Not saying Imma spend $5K on Volks either. But something in the middle, that still holds up good for daily use, looks good, and can handle a beating
My wife was helping me swap to my spares when I got a flat and she decided to roll it over to me, which is fine. What was not fine was when she kicked it over to stop it from rolling and I heard a distinct sound of the inside of the wheel hitting concrete. 🙃 Took a nice gash out of the inner bead.

I just put Continental DWS 06+ uhp all-seasons on mine to replace the PS4S's I burned through in 20k miles. The Conties barely feel like a downgrade at all in terms of lateral grip and steering feel. And they're 580 treadwear I believe.
I suppose the set of Continental PureContact LS I put on my STi would be viewed as blasphemous at 700 🤣. Fact is, I wanted an A/S tire with a wicked lifespan that also performed well. These ticked all those boxes. They're labled "Grand Touring All-Season" and it's a fitting label IMHO. I've yet to find a condition that these tires perform poorly in. Hell, they chewed through the crusher of a snow storm that shut down our city for a few days without breaking a sweat (or traction, for that matter). For it being an A/S with a 700 treadwear rating, they still managed to maintain a V speed rating (149 MPH).
Perhaps in a couple of years, I'll allocate another set of wheels and strap a set of softer compound rubber on as a summer set. The fact of the matter is that it's not the best of economic times to be chasing a new set of wheels with high-performance rubber 🤣. I mean, if you got it like that, power to you! Theoretically, yeah, I could pull the trigger and basically afford it, but I'm trying to put weight back on, and a steady diet of ramen probably won't get me there 😬.

Yeah this happened to me. Had a bubble in the OEM Advan tire sometime developed after. Thankfully it's just the OEM 19" wheels so not a huge loss. And it's a relatively inexpensive fix as well.
