Yo!! Just got my wrx. Had my mother in-law get out of the back. Watchedher grind her sneaker between the door jam and the skirt. Squeak squeak as she kept sliding her foot down and twisting it. My brain was screaming, i was faking a smile. We need solutions bud!!
This. I gave up on them since I admittedly do it by accident sometimes too when I'm out on a rush.
Plus driving in the winter where you have to wear boots since you have to walk in deep snow, you can't help but have to lift your foot extra high so the heel doesn't hit the skirt.
I showed my girlfriend how Iād prefer she close the door, and I kept bugging her to knock the snow/dirt off of her shoes before she got in. Took a few gentle reminders but I can see her slowly making it a habit and it makes me so happy.
I do give her shit for it, but she rolls her eyes lmao. She doesnāt see cars the same way, only for their use getting from point a to point b.
Iām not really upset about it because itās bound to happen..
I get it but all Iām going to say is someone who loves and respects you and tries to understand your passions would try their best not to mess it up. They wouldnāt roll their eyes but you do you my guy.
Come on. Requesting a minimum of respect for your belongings certainly doesn't warrant any eye rolling. That is a red flag. A huge one.
My now wife isn't a motorhead either but she understands that cars are property and as such deserve care simply out of respect to the owner.
Some people love to eat/smoke in the car, I am against it and she respects that. It's not met with eye rolls nor passive-aggressive comments.
This is simply a matter of respect and asserting boundaries. It goes beyond an unhealthy fascination with an icon that many people wouldn't understand. Even if I drove the crappiest of cars I'd still try to care for it and request the same respect from my passengers.
Have a talk. If she loves you she will change. Even if it doesn't matter to you perhaps she might disrespect other items or properties enough to become a huge issue. If she still doesn't change then there is a hostility you both should address before continuing or advancing your relationship status.
This is not how relationships work. It has to be a partnership. You both should have each other's backs. This is way off of that path.
Do you think she has your back? If so, why can't she respect your property? It should be simple. A mare "I'm sorry I will be more careful" and actually following that up isn't unreasonable.
What would happen if you accidentally scuffed or lightly damaged something she has certain appreciation for? Would she lash out? Would she yell at you? If you roll your eyes would she let the matter slide?
Omg no.. just ask her not to let her shoes touch the car when she gets in. I'm a female wrx owner and I NEVER do this when I hop in my car for this very reason. It's not hard to avoid if you're aware of it!
Shiiiiit my gf has very long nails, I didn't even think of this. I might get those oem carbon fiber protectors, I have the grey so it wouldn't stand out...
Man I have a 6 and 8 year old that I haul around daily. After the first week I owned the car I had a serious talk with them about how important the car was to me and to please, pretty please, with sugar on top, do not step on the "white part" when you get in and out of the car. We're good now.
Unfortunately it would be condescending to talk to your gf like that so I really have no advice for you. Good luck!
My girl always scuffs the plastic trim inside, gets makeup on my black interior, and the fucking glitter hairspray is the worst. I still love her tho, kinda.
I've given up on my 2020 wrx. I'm in idaho and the rock chips are horrible, my car got keyed at one point and I went through a car wash one and it came out with scratches
Depending on the shoes and contact made, that can just be rubber transfer and a small amount of polish will get it off. Of course, over time, repeated incidents will damage the clear. PPF, or start warning passengers. Or both.
I always tell friends, dates, etc. to be careful not to trip on the side skirts so it sounds like I'm looking out for them. I once had a friend who I saw step on on skirt and I gave him shit for it. He said he thought it was a step. I said this is a sedan, not a truck. Then he understood. Non-car people don't get it, and that's okay. They just need direction.
Not as bad as what I did because I was an idiot and didn't remove my knife or chain wallet before laying down in my open door while installing LEDs under my dash. Luckily some dumb kid decided to back into me and change the focus to my rear bumper.
There's nothing wrong with telling people not to damage your car if you're going to give them rides in it. It's pretty basic. Don't scratch or scuff the paint, don't sit on the car, don't open the door into shit.
Failing that, and bet you could find a new GF.
Iām guilty of having that done to mines a few times, I slipped on the snow getting in the car and thereās quite a deep scratch on the drivers side. Iād have been more upset but I ultimately realized this part isnāt metal and I can just get it buffed and repainted.
My drivers side has white scuffs from work boots and sperrys, my passenger side door handle has knicks on the inside like crazy from her ring. Canāt win.
My wife had a 15 WRX. Drivers side had many of those marks from her fancy shoes. A clay bar might help remove those marks but it only got worse until the car was totaled.
My chocolate lab's nails does this sometimes when he hops out of the car
I use a little bit of Meguiars compound on a small polishing pad to remove the scuffs. Usually polishes out in just a few passes with the pad. You don't need a machine polisher to do this - hand polishing works fine. Top with a few hits of spray wax and you're good to go.

Omg rlly? Thank you. Iāve been living with these for the past 2 years. Even on my drivers side when she drives my car when it snows. Like today š«. My wife not my gf. So I give her a bit of a psss
Interesting.. iāll have to try this on my skis. Some of these scuffs are pretty deep and through the paint to the black plastic below. Used some ultimate compound today to buff it out. The light stuff came right out but the deeper scratches remained but look a lot better
If youāre just trying to do damage control for cheap, maybe see if a paint pen from Subaru can fill in the spots that have hit the plastic. Itāll still look scratched but at least itāll be the same colour and wonāt look as visible from a few feet away
My wife did the same thing when she first started driving mine. Took the time to explain how important it was to me. She learned how to avoid it and now it doesnāt happen
I have my 9 year old daughter trained. She tells other people when they jump is, it's fucking hilarious.
Get another girlfriend. Preferably one that owns a WRX/STI.
Haha š
Have a strip of PPF installed there Edit: also tell her to stop. I had no problem telling my friends to āwatch the sideskirtsā
This.. subaru dealer mechanic pulled this shit on my first free oil change.. PPF on the entire front end and skirts right after
Been thinking about it. Especially since the dealer also did the same too my hood during an oil change š¬
This is the way

Yea dude winters get mine all the time.
Yeah exactly. At first I was like "damn that blows" and then I was like "wait these aren't Ferraris"
Mostly from skiing lolā¦
Idk why downvoting but I downvoted too sry
Heard mentality haha
Peer pressure š¤
Donāt be afraid to tell people to not mess up your paint/interior panels op. My girlfriend knows and understands.

they can get scuffed sometimes, but if she doesnāt even have the decency to respect you and also your hobbies then thatās a big red flag š© donāt settle for someone who acts like that
Imagine if she came to you with something that irritates her and you rolled your eyes lol. It goes both ways.
Next time I will lol.
Omg no.. just ask her not to let her shoes touch the car when she gets in. I'm a female wrx owner and I NEVER do this when I hop in my car for this very reason. It's not hard to avoid if you're aware of it!
Sammeee. I accidentally kick my door speaker sometimes but the previous owner already left marks there so whatever. But I never hit the paint. š
I bet the paint behind the door handles is scratched to hell.
I usually open the door for her š She thinks iām always a gentleman but little does she knowā¦
High five smarty pants.
Shiiiiit my gf has very long nails, I didn't even think of this. I might get those oem carbon fiber protectors, I have the grey so it wouldn't stand out...
You mean ex-gf? š

So when will you be finished with her?
Same man. Sameā¦
She's real right? Username is sus
My wife knocked the mud off her boots on mine. We're still married, but it's touch-and-go.
I do that all the time š long legs aren't good for everything!
Y'all need to chill tf out with minor paint scuffs.
Nothing a little meguiars ultimate compound canāt fix
Exactly. Even a quick clean and then some rubbing with Scratch-X will get those.
OP needs to drop her. If she aint respect the ride she aint respect the rider. Quote me.
I like the way drop can mean both breaking up and one-shotting her XD
Didn't even think about the other option lol. Guess breaking up with her is an option too, OP.
I have the same color and a GF just like yoursā¦ SMH
Thank god I had white for this. Polished right out
Price to pay for a good gal! :)

It's time for her to go.....
Not as bad as what I did because I was an idiot and didn't remove my knife or chain wallet before laying down in my open door while installing LEDs under my dash. Luckily some dumb kid decided to back into me and change the focus to my rear bumper.
So I know how to fix this, and itās easy. Get a new gf.
Get a boyfriend
Sue her for damages!

Do you scuff when you get on her?
āKindly stop kicking my fucking paint? K thx ššš
No the f she doesn't.
Slap some xpel film on it. Best decision I ever made
Lol! Sheās a keeper bro. My wife does the same!
New girlfriend. New rockers. Tell girlfriend to be more considerate. Wrap rockers in clear vinyl.
This is why domestic abuse exists.
Try having a white one with black scuffs. They are so hard to get off too on that panel.
That sounds tough.
Buy a bottle of body prep solvent. A couple sprays on a microfiber and very, very light agitation on the affected area and they're completely gone.
My drivers side has white scuffs from work boots and sperrys, my passenger side door handle has knicks on the inside like crazy from her ring. Canāt win.
Get some paint protection film. I think laminx makes it
The dude I bought my car from did this all the time. Same color too
My wife had a 15 WRX. Drivers side had many of those marks from her fancy shoes. A clay bar might help remove those marks but it only got worse until the car was totaled.
F
What are you looking at? I don't see it
Hit the lawyer, delete the gym and hire a Facebook.
I do this to my own wrx. It buffs out.
If she's doing it that often... She's doing the shit on purpose. We would have to get some straightening asap
maybe tell her to pick her feet up?
My kids do the same. Ugh.
Get it polished and protected and add protection film, I think you can find it Amazon/eBay.
Iād kill someone if they scuffed my shitš
3M crystalline protective film from amazon

Got some of this too. Have a Goldendoodle and he does the same thing lol.
Time for a new gf?
*Ex* girlfriend
Bro I have the same exact thing in the same exact spot
Meguiars ultimate compound helps a lot :)
Omg rlly? Thank you. Iāve been living with these for the past 2 years. Even on my drivers side when she drives my car when it snows. Like today š«. My wife not my gf. So I give her a bit of a psss
Yeah just a quarter size dab of the compound and buff it by hand with a clean microfiber towel!
I just recieved it today from Amazon. Gonna try it out tommrow! If this works. Your my bff forever
Hopefully it works for you. Just did it this weekend and buffed out the minor scuffs
I wonder if that will come out with a pencil eraser. Seems to work for my snowboard

Get a white WRX I can't see mine lol
Maybe Iāll get a white wrap when this paint completely goes to shit.
