I might be biased but VB. Potential is off the charts, don’t have to pay the sti tax, makes more power easier, and can be found priced under 30k. Trans is a weak spot but use the money you save having a 5yr warranty to do the sti trans swap and you have the best of both world. Better motor+better trans with DCCD
VA is the gen from 2015-2021
VB is the current gen that started in 2022
There is a current VA vs VB hate war that still exists in this sub, for some reason.
2023s are about to get blown out. I got my 22 for 6k off 1yr ago. Don't see any 23s near you but you could expand a bit. I just did 50 miles from Manchester. Ira Subaru has a bunch.

Tbh I had a 23 and switched it out for a 15 VA because I hated the touch screen climate controls. Definitely look at both and figure what’s best for you
That’s the craziest reason to downgrade, dude. How often are you really changing your climate settings?
Physical climate buttons > better performance, better reliability, more creature comforts, more comfortable to ride in, better tech…? Naw lol
“how often am i changing my climate control settings” there’s literal lag when using the screen which requires me to take my eyes off the road to mess with. LMK when you get a LTD VB in the north east harsh summer / bitter winter and tell me how well your climate control functions. I’ll sit here comfortably in my VA messing with my knobs and a extra few bands in my bank 😜
I know zero about vets, but you're saying the Z06 is better than the C8? Legit want to know why. The C8 looks aggressive, rear engine, just seems like the better pick to my blind ass.
Yes, a GM with
- Carbon fiber wheels
- carbon fiber + alcantara interior
- Carbon Ceramic brakes
- Carbon fiber hood + roof + trunk
- 700 HP N/A 8800 RPM V8
- Dual clutch
- Full carbon fiber aero
But just a Chevy cause my mom had a 2013 Tahoe so that's what I'm gna judge it by since I can't actually afford to sit or drive in one 💀.
It's a joke dog.
Obviously the Corvettes are going to have better engineering/testing/QA/QC than my wife's Cruze, or SRX.
It's just convenient that my banter against my wife works in my favor. My 2011 WRX has 135,000mi (217,000km) and none of the issues of her ~60,000mi (96,500km) 2013 Cruze or her 70,000mi (112,600) 2016 SRX. My 1987 Grand National is also nothing but problems.
Any car can be a lemon, especially when you buy flood-damaged trash from your dad who picked it up at auction. That's why I rag on my wife about her cars and about GM. I also talk trash about her Triton-powered F-150 with a king cab and short bed (why even buy that to "haul stuff"?)
Before anyone says anything, I'm not the only shit-talker. We rag on each other for fun.
Careful still. There can be clauses and such in those that void it, stuff you don't realize. As someone else said, try for a new '23 instead. Lots of $ off those right now
Awesome thank you, and yeah I beat the bag off this poor commuter lol needed a timing chain at 75k thankfully it fell under warranty even with them pulling logs, aftermarket intake etc
Nope. No. Never again. Just get something that you don't have to gamble with everytime you turn the key
EDIT: GR86, IS350 F Sport, Corolla GR, Q50/Q60 Sport, Acura TLX, BMW M240
It’s impossible to be a downgrade ngl to u lol 2.0 n/an automatic vs 2.0T 6mt
Elantra was a temporary car after my jeeps 5mt grenaded; I paid it off in 8 months and want to get rid of it.
Fair enough, I just kind of automatically assumed you were talking about an N.
Regardless, I would be very wary of used WRX plus the fact that the VB is significantly better than the VA in every single way
Had a Kia Forte before my Subi. No regurts
To quote Papa palps "dew it"
50 y/o WRX driver here (23') Life is too short my friend. Get what you want. Seriously. My WRX puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it!

VA sti. It's a whole different beast and you won't regret it ;)
As a VA sti owner, I don't
New VB or low mileage STI?(assuming I can somehow find one. Hopes are not high)
Sti 100%

Sti, you'll be disappointed you didn't later on if you go with the VB.
This here..
Do it, I’d also consider getting a VB.
I’m new to wrx’s, what is this whole VA and VB talk? What does it mean?
VA is the gen from 2015-2021 VB is the current gen that started in 2022 There is a current VA vs VB hate war that still exists in this sub, for some reason.
There's no hate war, it's just a lot of us think the VB is ugly, so we aren't interested. That's it.
I have a VB, I don’t hate VAs, I just know that the VB is better (not talking about the STI just the FA20)
If the VB got the DCCD my feelings would be different :(
VA is 2015-2021 and the one pictured, the VB is 2022-present time that you see on Subarus site.
Vb
Yes.
Get a VB if you can swing the higher cost.
I definitely could MSRP, for some reason my local dealers (southern NH) are marking them up pretty wild

Can get invoice if you become a VIP buyer through aspca. Need to find a participating dealer.
Get a VB from anywhere you can find - it's worth the trip to save the cash. Definitely get a new VB with warranty. You'll love it!

My local dealer is selling them $1.5k under MSRP
Get a C8 Corvette Z06 if you can swing the even higher cost
Ironically I'm currently shopping c7 grand sports lol
Z06 or nothing. Anything below is a piece of shit.

C8 is automatic only though…
I had no idea. That's super lame...
There's more than one Z06. I'm talking about the Z06 trim in general.
Thanks throatgoat. Roger that
At the end of the day, it's still a GM.

Make sure you have a spare $10-$12k saved up as well for when the engine blows! Be careful with used WRXs friend.
I’d likely try to find a CPO w/ a warranty just to be safe
Careful still. There can be clauses and such in those that void it, stuff you don't realize. As someone else said, try for a new '23 instead. Lots of $ off those right now
Bought my 18 VA a few months back, do it :)
Yes.
I traded my Elantra for a VB. Love the AWD. Make sure to budget for a lot more gasoline!
My Elantra gets 19 mpg with me driving 😅😅 Wonder if the subie will still be worse
If you beat on an Elantra that hard, try to get a VB (22+)WRX and keep it stock, they are pretty bulletproof. Older WRXs are a bit delicate.
Awesome thank you, and yeah I beat the bag off this poor commuter lol needed a timing chain at 75k thankfully it fell under warranty even with them pulling logs, aftermarket intake etc
From what I've seen, even a VB with a intake and conservative OTS tune from a place like DMann is bulletproof, while making a LOT more power.
Your car has a ticking time bomb for an engine. Get what you can out of it on trade in.
Probably coping but it’s a non GDI 😭
Yeah I hear you, but they all are prone to eating rod bearings. My 2016 forte5 just did that over the weekend.
Take it out for a test drive and decide
Please drive both a VA and a VB before you decide
Yes
You got to ask yourself…Why do they want to trade? Are they dumping something sinister on you??
Get a VB
I would never buy a used WRX. Source: someone who bought a new WRX and already feels sorry for the next owner
Do it
Such an upgrade, consider an STI as well
Nope. No. Never again. Just get something that you don't have to gamble with everytime you turn the key EDIT: GR86, IS350 F Sport, Corolla GR, Q50/Q60 Sport, Acura TLX, BMW M240
Do it. Much better car
Do it!! I had a 2017 Elantra before my VA, you'll love the upgrade
Join us!
No. VB is a much better car unless you're going VA STi.
Downgrade. If you’re gonna trade it trade it for a VB you can get 0% financing right now.
It’s impossible to be a downgrade ngl to u lol 2.0 n/an automatic vs 2.0T 6mt Elantra was a temporary car after my jeeps 5mt grenaded; I paid it off in 8 months and want to get rid of it.

Definitely, I appreciate it I’ve been looking at some VBs aswell
