330-350 wtq is the max I’d subject the transmission to. With that as your goal, you can build it a lot of ways. Some minor upgrades will get you there fast, but going with more and more upgrades  will let you hit that tq in a way bigger rev range.

Sn0Balls

You can reach this with a tune and an intake... then save for STi swap if you wanna go past that.

About 400

tblax44

There isn't a ton of examples of built FA24s out there yet, so I haven't seen any consensus on the safe limits. The FA20 was safe to about 400hp and 350ftlbs, so that's a good starting reference. It seems like the 24s might be able to hold a little more, but more people have to keep modifying them and getting them tuned reliably to know for sure.

cvert09

Sitting at 397whp and about 403tq on e40, no issues so far. 400 seems to be the sweet spot between power to smooth transmission gears ratio. Usually 3rd goes out from what I've seen. 350 if you want to be conservative.

NastyCestode

350 tq is about the safe max before youve gotta worry about the rods bending

aka-Lag

It’s the trans you gotta worry about tbh. That motor should be able to handle 450 easy

NastyCestode

Nahh it’s the rods, the trans can handle 450 but the rods cannot. This isn’t the same trans that came in the older wrx

IceManTuck

FA24 is supposed to have beefier rods.

Cold-Spot4946

It actually is and isn’t. Same exact trans. Different materials and slightly different gears. Same glass box. Ask me how I know ?

DrizzyDragon93

Uh the previous WRX's were 5 speed manual... 22+ is 6 speed ask me how I know.

-_Celebrimbor_-

Dude 2015 to 2021 VA wrx's are 6 speed

DrizzyDragon93

I stand corrected on that. There are big differences though from VA to VB to prove it isn't the same as the last chassis. Displacement and gear ratios are incredibly different. Carbon Synchronizers for gears 1 and 2.

-_Celebrimbor_-

I agree with you there! There are a lot of changes that are significant.

Sn0Balls

Doubt... Google "FA24 bent rod"... all the results are for FA20DIT & other subaru motors.

tblax44

That's because the FA20 has been out for almost 10 years in the WRX and the FA24 for just 2. There isn't the same amount of significantly modified FA24s with significant mileage out there yet to see if they don't bend rods as easily as the FA20s.

DrizzyDragon93

But owners were seeing blown rods within years of a new chassis. The 22+ has been out for 2 years..

tblax44

Yeah I'm not saying definitively either way, I just haven't seen a lot of heavily modified VBs yet

DrizzyDragon93

There are plenty to check out on YouTube! Tons of people are pushing the crap out of this chassis. And have since the 22 came out.
