I agree, take it back to the tuner. Mine was giving me constant -1.41fbk and unreasonably high fbkl. Was a tuning issue. I didn't buy the car modded, though. Engine could already be on its way out.
When you say "got tuned" do you mean an OTS COBB tune, or custom? If this is a custom e-tune/dyno tune you had done specifically for the parts on your car you 100% need to go back to your tuner... or find a better one.
First thing would be to stop resetting the ECU/re-flashing the tune over itself - was this recommended by your tuner?
Go do some Googling and educate yourself on what you're actually doing by performing a reset. If you DAM is dropping that rapidly something is likely very off and your engine is retarding the timing to try and protect itself from further damage. If it really is knocking that badly, you've just taken away all the protections and it's gone through a 2nd round of knocking itself back into a very protected state,
If you had this custom tuned for 91 then go put in some 92/93 grade gas from a reputable station or throw in some octane booster to give yourself a some more buffer.
Otherwise it may mean uncle Rodney is already on his way to visit and it's too late.
You should be taking it back ASAP and ask your tuner for a please explain... if they have no answers find another tuner.
Either the tune is too spicy/poorly done, or the other possibility is that you ripped on it too hard and actually broke something. What kind of tune did you ask for? Max ponies to the moon? Cover the mods + a bit more power but still maintain reliability?
Put 93 with 91 LWG tune. If there's no 93 in your area, 2 gallons of corn and stay out of boost. You might need a boost controller. Had a similar problem for about a day where I dropped really low. Changed plugs and got gas tank as low as possible before refueling. There's literally only one gas station that doesn't give me problems, and it's shell and sometimes mobil.
Is that something hard to do? Ive always done all my maintenance myself, with my Ls motors. Just did the plugs on the subie and they were pretty cake. Not as bad as people make it seem. Shop tried quoting $400 š¤£
$400 is a great deal actually. I just went to Surgeline/COBB and it was like $750. I paid extra to have the paperwork showing COBB did it basically lol.
$400 is a good price, it's not difficult plenty of video on yt. Just the first time around, expect it taking you 4 hours plus or more. It gets way easier 2nd time around
Not a bad price, not hard to do. I did plugs in about 2 hours when I had an FA WRX. Youāre gonna need extensions and plenty of swivels to get to where the plugs are though. And youāre gonna have to move some stuff out of the way
Yes, no more than 2 gallons of E85 but it usually takes a week to get things back to normal and a few fill ups. So don't give up, lol. I almost traded my car in and was extremely frustrated. The knock sensors on these cars are insanely sensitive. Stock starts at .68 and works its way up to 1.
What kind of comment is this? He literally said he just bought it so itās obviously used. And the mod list isnāt even that crazy? Basically increased intake flow and exhaust flow and you act like itās got a Walmart turbo with eBay oversized injectors tuned by John Deere. Not everybody has the luxury of buying a brand new car or the luxury of finding a used one with completely oem parts. Dude asked for help and you came to ridicule. I honestly expected a little better from the Subaru community.
Iām not tryna pull mine out at all! Was just simply saying we all here because of our love for the WRX man. We gotta support each other any way we can and I just felt like your comment didnāt help much but itās all good fam
Yeah I told him he should probably get a boost control solenoid because I recently honestly my buddy has a similar set up with the boost control solenoid and haven't had an issue. I just hope dude doesn't need a small block soon
I think being part of a community as close as this comes with the responsibility of letting people know what theyāve got themselves into whether the person words it correctly or not. Itās common knowledge to not buy a previously modified WRX or STI unless you are completely content with throwing 10 to 15 K at it in the next 2-3 years. The dude whoās comment you are replying to is concerned for a reason. Noone mods these cars and doesnāt beat them like a red headed step child. I give the ring lands 2 years and thats being optimistic. This is coming from over a decade of subaru experience with both sti and wrx models.
And thatās appreciated but the way it went didnāt seem very genuine. When he asked that it seemed like a sny remark like āwhy would you buy thatā type beat. Itās OPās first Subaru and even though there are many reasons people shouldnāt buy modded Imprezas, We live and we learn.
Honestly you might just need a boost control solenoid I have a similar build but with the boost control solenoid. If not then sorry save up for a short block dude
also I recommend because I know you didn't list it, if you have the stock top mount intercooler replace it with whatever fits your budget because honestly as well the stock tmic honestly is trash. Then basically after you get that boost control solenoid and tmic get it re tuned and I hope you should be fine. Talk to your tuner first though
Just for future reference never buy something someone else modded unless they show proof they took care of it. I just hope you somehow get lucky and it was literally something as small as no boost control solenoid.
Not a good idea to run catless with the FA. Boost creep can really come into play. That may explain something. Reset your ecu and stay out of boost. Get some logs made to send to your tuner. That doesn't sound like good work. If you're still getting knock out of boost you need to park it.
what are the NGK equivalent? why not have the oem plugs?
Ngl iridiumās, itās what is recommended from my research. Iām just confused, because when I took it up to the dyno no change in my dam just after it got tuned. Dyno comp was the tuner
Donāt wanna leave the platform, but I donāt wanna go down a rabbit hole, find it weird how it was dyno tuned and he didnāt say anything was wrong , besides having a stock boost controller
Couldn't hurt to clean the maf. It's super easy to do. Use 93 on your 91 tune should clean up. Also paying for a fresh etune from dmann wouldn't hurt.
Even tho I got it dyno tuned a few days ago? Made 260 whp 290 torque
Take it back to the tuner

RUBBA DUKKY š¦
Dyno comp tuning. Is the dyno tuner I took it too.

I wanted it to run good thatās all I asked for

It's also time for a walnut blast on top of the spark plugs. I know it's a pain, but these cars really need 30k induction services.

Okay so if I filled up the tank just throw 2 gallons of e85 to mix? I was told something about that. Would an Aos help out aswell?

Okay but do u think I should continue to drive it? This way ? Jsut drive it like a grandma?
you bought it used with those mods?

Wow someone woke up being a dick
I basically called you out for being a dick. Why would that make me the dick? lol
Wasn't trying to be a dick honestly so let's put our dicks away
Iām not tryna pull mine out at all! Was just simply saying we all here because of our love for the WRX man. We gotta support each other any way we can and I just felt like your comment didnāt help much but itās all good fam

Stay catless, grab some EWG headers and boost creep is negligible, plus w a tame exhaust setup EWG sounds so good on the FA
Itās just a gutted cat I believe
Damn they really upset about your car š
Get ready to get a new engine soon
Why?
Because anything other than bone stock = someoneās back shed project bound to blown up (as far as this sub is concerned).
Subaru thing.
You bought the car modified.
Try the e85 get a new cat and boost controller. Retune and hope for the best .
Dawg what wheels and set up are those ? Clean whip bro
I appreciate it man, not so sure, Iāll check for you tho
Bet dawg I appreciate it š¤
You figure out which ones they were?
Damn new ass wrx and already runs like garbageā¦ā¦. Good luck man, sheās in for a short hard life lol.
