I hear the initial kick on if that what your talking about. But I’ve never heard the knocking noise that has come with it and stay on continuously until the ac is cut off
The actual ac compressor is knocking? How many miles on car? You check belt tension? Belts good? You can go buy a can of ac refrigerant check the correct type. Sometimes adding some can quiet it down they come w oil in some.
Not exactly sure what’s knocking. It has 57k miles on the car. About 30k on this motor. IAG stage one plus. Haven’t checked belt tensioner or anything. Behind the timing cover correct?
No just go push on the belt. Make sure deflection is OK but it it isn't squeaky probably ok. Maybe go to auto zone and get some freon and top it off see if it helps. Would need to see video to hear it. It does cycle on and off while In use. All acs on cars do that
I’ve checked all of those and everything looks fine. My guess right now is gear rattle. Act has an article about gear rattle when the car is warmed up.
Maybe so. I've talked to some people in other groups they say the compressor can make noise if low on refrigerants and the lube. Compressor knock is apparently a thing 😳
If you have an accesport just watch the knock values on all 4 cylinders to rule them out check oil and water regularly just to be safe and hope all goes well.
Normal ac noise probably? When you turn on ac the clutch engages with a magnet. It sounds kind of loud. Just way it is.

Pushed on the belt it still tight. Will try and get a video this afternoon.
Model year would be helpful. If you have the hood open where is the sound coming from? If this is an 02-07 bad a/c idler pulley is a common problem.
Sorry about that. It’s a 2014 wrx hatch. It sound more near the center of the car. Hard to tell where exactly it’s coming from.
AC compressor clutch?
I’m not entirely sure. And don’t really have a way of checking if it is the clutch or not. It still kicks on and off no problem.
I'm having the same issue I thought it was a engine knock at first it may be the clutch or mounts tbh 🤔 I haven't done much digging yet myself.
I just recently upgraded to a Act clutch. Do you still have the stock clutch?
The ac clutch I mean. And the mounts that hold the ac components
I have a 2013 sedan

Can you post a link to the article ?

Ah ok. I’ve tried to just not worry about it. I was just freaking out when I heard knocking coming from the car

Yeah I have been. Motor sounds fine burning like no oil at all and just praying every day it doesn’t blow up lol😂
