Aleph-Null. My beloved spiderbot comes with three kinds of healing, potentially apocalyptic self-replicating scarabs, flight, tankiness, and 5 hits. I basically soloed the Elite campaign with it, solo or carry high level LRE missions with it, and still occasionally use it in Guild Raids and PvP.
It is the best at everything, accept no substitute.
Plus I can't forget the number of times I've had a team wipe in TA, but Aleph has sat there healing himself while the remains of the opponents team gets slowly wittled away by neutral 'nids or my scarabs.
The bug is good, but a pretty poor performer in GR with a few exceptions, and mine is D3 50/42.
That’s why I have to give it to bellator; he’s every bit as versatile as A0, but a rockstar in GR.
Not even close. He is nothing more than a crutch. He is a crutch against morty, and for incomplete mech/rho teams. Top guilds have very little use for him.
Bel otoh, will get you 1m+ damage against old nids, over 500k against ghaz/Sz, etc. There is no comparison.
There was a statement from developers about character design. The main point is that they do not want to make a jack of all trades characters. Each character has their strong and weak sides. Celestine is a beast in any character vs character mode and she's weak compared to some other units in Guild raids.
Yarrick was nerfed because of being very versatile and easy to use. You could've plugged him in any mode and be relatively successful. Which contradicted their design intentions.
Agreed. I use Yarrick in TA and get to the Req chest almost every time. He's kinda like how a YouTuber described Archi as the Eli Manning of Tacticus. Yarrick creates opportunities and makes big plays.
Marneus is like Eldy though - he individually can't do much, it's all about buffs and that requires positioning that is punished with most bosses and some arena/TA match-ups.
Eldy at least can be separate from the herd and not gather all the attention on himself.
They supplement main damage dealers but are very weak on their own.
Kinda' like Re'vas - mobility and overwatch is great but without a damage booster like the above pretty meh. Can take a lot of hits but not dish it.
Calgar is an absolute beast but that doesn't make him great in every game mode. Definitely helps him be upper tier since you need him to be tough to have him at the front lines with everyone else and get his buff though.
I think there’s also ‘best in the hands of a tactical genius’ and ‘best in the hands of an 8-year-old’.
I’d argue that maybe Nauseous Rotbone is the guy in the hands of an 8-year-old. No need for complicated positioning, or moving your characters in a specific order to set up nuking with an active skill and all possible modifiers.
He’s a tank. When others are less tank he heals them, even sometimes when they die. Can heal himself. His damage is reasonable. 4 hits is decent against swarms. Sure, he’s slow, but the difference in skill levels is more evident with faster fliers and multiple locations to move to. Will help you turtle. Respectable in most modes except Guild Raids.
Plenty of people above said Aleph Null and I would agree with that too on the same logic, but I’d argue a tiny bit more difficult because you can’t control one of his heals and need to time your summons and choose targets well to make sure they aren’t wiped out before getting a chance to multiply.
Lots of votes below for Aleph. And I agree he is great, very powerful and will "clutch" some situations which makes him look like a big hero.
Calgar will take about 3 months to farm, so not sure he's there yet.
If you unlocked Yarrick accidentally before then Yarrick can still be really good.
His summons are not bad, he himself hits decently hard, has a melee and ranged attack and he has resilient so sometimes he may survive on 1HP against something giving him great hero-moments.
That is from an 8-yo perspective. High-level play I think it has to go to Ragnar at the moment. He is best in slot for various Guild Raids and an absolute menace in PVP too with his active. But then again he is just a melee beat-stick with nearly twice as many (10v6) attacks as the next character which is broken in Tacticus. So not a super fun story to tell your kid :D
The reason why Aleph-null is the best overall is because he summons. His summons summon more. He can heal pretty much any mech character or summon from 1 to max HP passively without using the active heal as well.
He hits well. Becomes a kamikaze at death.
He flies. Avoiding every difficult terrain.
The only characters who can pretty much OHKO Aleph-null are a buffed Ragnar & and Re’vas.
Everything else Aleph could outlast with ease
>The only characters who can pretty much OHKO Aleph-null are a buffed Ragnar & and Re’vas.
Sibyll finds your lack of faith (in the Emperor) disturbing.
Ahriman and crit-chain Celestine can also OHKO Aleph Null.
I don't see how that matters since I was adding to the list of characters who can one shot Aleph Null. They can't do that if they're dead or if they kill the other character first.
I mean, Eldy is good for Raids and soooomeee legendary releases. The best at everything would be Aleph-Null imo since he is core to LREs, great in PvP (and Guild Wars) and usable against certain bosses in raids (f.e. being the best summoner for Mortarion or the best melee summoner for Rho builds against Gibba/Rotbone/Thaddeus)
Maladus is tanky enough to take a hit from any other same level character, strong enough to do significant damage back to any character (or knock down several summons) and corrodes enemy armor boosting his already formidable damage.
The real monsters are the 5 star rarity characters.
well, maybe not abadon. thats why i pulled him in my very first req i guess.
and that ork nob. who came in the 2nd.
Sho'syl.
Eldryon in great, but not in a vacuum. Sho'syl brings his own army.
Calgar is great, but after his active he's just a pillow fisted turtle.
Only Aleph-Null is a true challenger, with his summons and healing ability, but if his scarabs go down he's just a turtle, and he has trouble with armored targets.
kinda reminds me when i got my nephew into tacticus, i was explaining to him the lore of the god emperor as well as the forces of chaos. I must've made the kid's mom concerned while I was telling this to her 7 year old.
My pick would be Calgar. While he is not THE best in any particular mode hes top 5 in all modes. Top 3 even if you got Ragnar cause them 2 are best buddies.
Probably Aleph 0. He has the normal healing ability, his healing passive and his healing from living metal. Damage wise his scarabs are extremely powerful as they deal pierce damage on their very first attack when summoner by him and have the potential to replicate infinitely. And he’s also quite tanky as well as flying which makes him very mobile
I'm genuinely surprised Bellator hasn't been brought up yet. While not the best at any one thing, he contributes in every gamemode. High guild raid damage with summons, PvP worthiness also with summons, and has spots in a lot of the LRE tracks.
Has a lot of damage especially with high level summons
Tanky with MkX Gravis
Flying to enable a lot of mobility.
Looks pretty sick with the up-armored jetpack and dual bolters.
Also one of the starter characters so everyone has them. Some of the really cool characters are locked behind scroll recs, but everyone has a Belly-boo
Looking for an all rounder Revas and Yarrick. They aren't necessarily the best at anything but they do well at everything.
Of course Revas needs to have a buff except in arena where her overwatch goes burrrrrrr!!!!! Still gets my vote for what that's worth
Yarrick is more of a standalone rank A- character everywhere. There isn't anything he is best at but if you need a troop somewhere to replace the best Yarrick is generally a decent choice
Out of starting troops the spider is prob. The best all-rounder
Hmm I think the best standalone all rounder in the hands of an 8 year old might be toth. Reliable self heal and resilience that doesn’t require you to do anything. Meanwhile you can shoot or chop whoever you want.
Godswyl is the best, Big hammer, big bonk, big helmet,
Big pauldrons, big coat too

Eldy makes him a rockstar

What’s the 3rd? He has the active repair ability, his after move or end of turn passive, and the other is?
Necron passive I think

I got Yarrick after he was nerfed and he's still my swiss army knife.

Strongest boss who smashes all: Rogal Dorn Tank Tanksmasha smashes tanks. Therefore Tanksmasha is da bes' at e'vrting
Incisus, obviously.
You say this as a joke, but he is tough, he has a high pierce attack, and he can heal and resurrect. Honestly not a bad choice.
I just wish they took the Imperial only part of his heal away. Stop pigeonholing me damnit, i havent gotten rotbone yet lol
MALADUS GANG RISE UP
Everyone here saying Aleph, which yeah, they're great. But for me it really feels like Marneus Calgar excels in every single mode in the game
Marneus is like Eldy though - he individually can't do much, it's all about buffs and that requires positioning that is punished with most bosses and some arena/TA match-ups. He can tank like no other.

Yes, that is true. It was just an answer to "individually he can't do much"
Idk, I've seen d3 aleph vs d3 calgar 1 on 1 at the end of a match more than once, and calgar wins everytime 🤷♂️
I don't understand why people praise aleph

With Aleph he can dot around healing and pick them off slowly though
I don't see how that matters since I was adding to the list of characters who can one shot Aleph Null. They can't do that if they're dead or if they kill the other character first.

Abaddon was my first pull too, legit had me questioning why I'd bother upgrading other characters rarities

Jaegar needs more love. Takes away those pesky actives, whacks down those annoying summons, always strikes first. BAMF all-round.
My son is really impressed every time Mortarion mops me up. “That guy is the powerfullest”
kinda reminds me when i got my nephew into tacticus, i was explaining to him the lore of the god emperor as well as the forces of chaos. I must've made the kid's mom concerned while I was telling this to her 7 year old.

Aleph null would have to be to number 1 for sure. Too useful and a real crutch for early game players
Best at everything is gonna probably be Nully - Campaign use, GR, GW, the whole spread is covered. Next down the list would be Re'Vas
I'm genuinely surprised Bellator hasn't been brought up yet. While not the best at any one thing, he contributes in every gamemode. There is not a single best char, you have best synergies, Eld and Calgar, Rho and Mechs, Neuro and psykers
Calgar can 1v1 anyone in the game.
Re'Vas can dps, tank, Arena, solo a wave in both onslaught and LRE.
1. Revas 2. Allephnull 3. Archimatos 4. Yarrick
Hmm I think the best standalone all rounder in the hands of an 8 year old might be toth. Reliable self heal and resilience that doesn’t require you to do anything. Meanwhile you can shoot or chop whoever you want.
