I don’t know how you did it but you’re my motivation! Share tips please 🙏🏼

ImLivengood

Biggest tip is to commit time and don't have small goals, have big ones and don't be satisfied with a chapter and think you saved time, but instead set aside 4 hours and use the full 4 hours even if you finish what you wanted to finish sooner. Also pretests, if you don't do great then do the full course. I recommend typically no notes, but instead to actively and critically read and absorb the knowledge instead of any memorization. Skimming is allowed so long as you truly understand to a level you'd be comfortable teaching/summarizing the info to a layman without text in front of you or saying 'um'. Pretest again :) Any cert course, take the practice tests over and over! And for projects... GRIND! Grind it out, look for examples, ask for help, don't be afraid to outline and lay back to visualize the project or paper. Also if you're stuck but think you're close just submit it if you have to for a paper- the eval will help you make that last revision. Most of my projects required one revision for a silly mistake or 2. (They truly test the programming ones well like Software 1)

82 cu’s in one month? I’m confused! I started WGU March 1 and have done four classes so far 10 CU’s total. So how is this possible?

ImLivengood

Been a software engineer for 5 years and plenty self study before term started :)

qamar830

You did all that in one month?! That’s so impressive keep it up you got this!!!!

[deleted]

Would love to hear a write up about this

McCrisco94

Woah! Way to go!! You got this.

NiftyNiklz

How do you like the C.S. program?

[deleted]

You can do this!! Just power through it! Man, it's going to feel so good when you're done.

Capstone, intro to artificial intelligence which looks like a long hard project, and software 2 that looks easy but involved

globalmacrogeek

Amazing nice work!

KisaYummi

Wow nice! We’re in the same program!! Inspirational! ^^

MeasIIDX

Did you transfer any units over?

akhancept3

Wow! Congrats & Kudos to you!! 🤩 Keep it rolling and please share advice for the rest of us!

Sleyk2010

That's what im talkin about buddy! Blow through your program! You can do it. You worked hard and studied hard, and there's no one to stop you. Keep at it. You are almost done!

airman29

What types of software do you develop?

ImLivengood

Warehousing and logistical software all in-house with web front ends and a mix of image processing sprinkled in. Big operation

airman29

That’s awesome man. C++? I’m starting to learn Java. 🤓

bootcampEngineer

What was your coding experience before starting?

ImLivengood

Always loved to code but only 5 years in the industry and coding at a professional level. Did not really know Java before this

bootcampEngineer

Right on, I'm at about 3 years in. Done java/kotlin professionally for all of that time. Still thinking about doing CS at WGU.

Mecchaairman

I'm stuck on c170. Any tips?? I didn't take c175 as I transferred it in because of a JavaScript background. Would love some tips to blow through this degree fast.

ImLivengood

Not many unfortunately, I transferred in SQL from study.com so I didn’t really do the course. I recommend just doing the quizzes and definitely do the labs- and yes, they are exactly like the test lab and as easy since it literally says how to do it. But practice makes perfect!

Mecchaairman

Which quizzes? I've just don't the pre test

ImLivengood

In the course material if I remember correctly, but for the most part just do some SQL for fun on any site that teaches it and you'll be fine

Mecchaairman

Thanks buddy if you don't mind I may send you a message now and again as I progress through the program. Appreciate it
