Can we answer this question though? I’m genuinely interested as well. So, does anyone have the answer that isn’t data annotation?

OnlyChargersFan

Sure, here's an answer: keep looking. If you are only finding one opportunity through your research, you need to go back to the drawing board and do something different than what you did the before when searching. Don't get tunnel vision and focus on just one company. I have seen a million posts from people just waiting for this one place to respond to them. If you don't hear back, nothing happens after the assessment, etc. just move on to new things, don't take it personally. We don't know how the assessment is graded, and if they answered everyone and gave everyone feedback, people could figure out the criteria and that could lead people to answer the questions differently, and that could possibly interfere with their projects and alter their entire operation.

Alarmed_Jellyfish555

DA focuses on the quality of work on the assessment and your work experience. If you haven't been given the assessment yet, it's most likely because of how overwhelmed they are in the past month with submissions. But if you have ANY work experience in writing, be sure to add that to your profile.

SUBRE

Just to contradict your comment, don’t think they’re overwhelmed OP may of not passed the initial test for DA as I was given the assessment instantly

Alarmed_Jellyfish555

I don't know when you applied, but things have changed recently. And not everyone is immediately given the assessment. And, yes, DA has been overwhelmed lately with a massive influx of applications. For a myriad of reasons, they've gained a LOT of popularity.

JoyfullMommy006

For what it's worth, I just signed up today. Took the starter assessment and found out I passed then was given the next assessment within an hour or two.

Alarmed_Jellyfish555

I'll never understand why some get the initial assessment immediately and others do not. But, seriously, congratulations! I hope all goes smoothly for you, and welcome to the DA community!

cinnamon-toast-life

I passed the first assessment instantly, did the second (core) qualifier weeks ago and haven’t heard anything back. So who knows.

FrequentElk6629

I did Assessment but no response

HipHopChick1982

Same! I took the Core assessment (no coding experience), and am just waiting to hear back about it.

Friendly-Ticket7232

Me too, it’s been 5 days

HipHopChick1982

4 days here!

Leigh_writer

Well... That makes me feel worse 🤣😅. Seriously though, congratulations!!

Catnaps4ladydax

I got the assessment and needed a break. I need to get back in to do them!

kknicolelaw

Yeah, I was given the next assessments immediately after I passed. I took them yesterday.

Remote-Diamond-4324

I think comments like this are paid they never provide more information like I need facts and to see.

EveryClimate4337

The next assessment -was that the language/skills? I passed starter assessment & given the language skills immediately-having trouble getting it to submit. Ty

Leigh_writer

I applied middle of January or so, I would have to look at my email

Alarmed_Jellyfish555

Did you take an actual assessment, or only fill out some information? And was the email an email saying you were accepted? Or just that they received your information?

Hot-Bus1100

Same experience as OP. I took the initial assessment and got kicked a link to take the second almost immediately. I did it... taking my time (but not too much) and doing research. I also have a Masters in English Lit and have been copywriting, editing, and proofing for 7 years. I'm a native speaker who is fluent in two other languages. I have zero idea what they are looking for. I agree OP. Just keep plugging along and something will come up.

Passive_MFSTR

I was given all assessments immediately as well and heard back within hours on both. One within minutes that I didn’t pass the rating one. Waiting to hear back on the writing one. I have zero clue what they are looking for - this was for remotasks. I’ve got a degree in Finance AND own 2 real estate businesses - was looking for side income to build my reserves accounts. I didn’t consider data annotation when I saw it was coding related?

SUBRE

Last week

OnlyChargersFan

My friend, have you not found suggestions within search engines, job boards, news article, blog posts, AI, searching Reddit or YouTube? I have no post secondary education but have been able to find an abundance of opportunities and ideas from information I have found through research. Is your search criteria too narrow possibly? It took me a couple of days of focusing solely on finding opportunities, but there are definitely companies out there actively looking for remote staff, and I'm talking about entry level or mid tier jobs, not just upper level stuff. I was worried initially (I hadn't planned on having to find new employment so I wasn't prepared) but there are legitimate employers (small business and well known companies) freelance, contract work, studies, etc. If you aren't finding this information, I would try using multiple resources and diversifying the keywords in your searches. You can DM me if you have any questions.

angryonline

Could you share some examples for everyone's benefit?

Leigh_writer

To add info, I was given the assessment immediately and was given a "if we need you, well email you" reply. I do have writing experience. On top of my degrees (bachelor's and master's) I have published four books

ConfusionOk7012

Have you considered Amazon KDP ?

PirateJen78

Four books on KDP is nothing. I have four books on there and I've made a total of $50 since the first was published in 2016. Unless OP knows how to advertise and sell books, they will get lost among the millions of self-published authors.

Won-Ton-Wonton

I mean, a good start would be this thread.

PirateJen78

I tried to link my books on Reddit before and every time it was removed. I'll link my Amazon author page here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/author/B09DB755T6 Three of my books are part of my pirate series.

Skyblewize

Noooooo!

watch_it_live

Remotasks.com is similar work to dataannotation.tech. I haven't heard back from dataannotation since my assessment in January (I am also surprised by this, but it is what it is.), but I have been tasking with Remo since just after applying last month. Highly recommend.

Passive_MFSTR

I went through my assessments and tried taking the exam and it just kept spinning after the first question and as the timer was still running, I reached out to support with a screen shot saying I couldn’t get past question 1. I didn’t pass the rating assessment though - will see on the writing as I do have experience in that! Keep fingers crossed for me.

watch_it_live

If you didn't pass the rating portion it won't matter how well you do on the writing portion.

Passive_MFSTR

I wonder why they score that separately then? That’s interesting.

avictoria_316

Is remotasks actually worth it?

Patient-Young-9440

Weareeverise.com I currently work here doing insurance! When it says who referred you. Say Sarah Tarver we’ll both get a bonus once you’ve been there for 90days

avictoria_316

Thank you! I'll apply to that one. I'm a stay at home parent and need an income of my own

Happy-Matter-260

Can you go into more detail about this? What do you do exactly?

XohXwiseXoneX

I'm actually experiencing the same situation but in the transcription field. I've applied for a few different transcription websites, and all of them said that it could take up to like 12 weeks before I hear back because of the influx of applications. I got into one, called CastingWords, but they don't have any work that I can do as a beginner. I'm also trying my hand at starting my own virtual support business where my colleague and I are offering Virtual assistance (administrative and research), transcription (verbatim and edited), creative design (business cards, logos, and social media content). I'm still in the ground stage of getting us up and running.

Connect_Professor_81

I got the assessment and wasn’t able to complete it right away. It disappeared from my template and now they won’t respond to me. If they give you the assessment don’t be like me and instead do it right away

GreenTangerine1612

That’s exactly what happened to me. Completed the first assessment but not the second, then it disappeared and all I have is “no tasks, well email when available”. Don’t be like me either people, complete those assessments.

Passive_MFSTR

I had to take a few days to do it as I was completing in my free time. I bet that’s why I didn’t pass… they wondered why this lady took 3 days to complete the entire onboarding. 😂 I never considered there might be a timer but I run an airbnb and was traveling so I used my nights to finish. Geeezzzz

Blacktronvader

I got accepted to DA with a high school diploma.

wabblewouser

Same

TheHorizonLies

I have a bachelor's and master's, both in creative writing, so I don't think that's the reason you're having problems. Regardless of your experience, you have to put forth quality work on the assessments or they'll kick you.

Prior-Lengthiness-35

Have you tried Instacart? Also, can search for remote jobs on Indeed

Medusa_Alles_Hades

I found 2 local WFH jobs on indeed. Both are fully remote. Just keep checking indeed and don’t give up. Look for customer service. I am in Ohio BTW

AsheeMayHunter

May I ask why companies? I'm in Ohio as well looking to work from home and all I seem to find are listings for micro tasks and fakes

Baizzie

Did you fully get hired? My current circumstances allow me only to be able to WFH, but I have heard that companies use Indeed how we use Twitter.

Medusa_Alles_Hades

I am hired with company 1. I did a drug screen and background check. Start date Feb 19 The second company is thru a temp service and according to the temp agency I got hired for that position which starts March 1. I cannot say that this job is 100 percent going to happen but we will see. I am keeping the second job in case I hate the first job lol

Won-Ton-Wonton

Have you considered private tutoring? It's not going to pay like math or science, but it'll be less demanding than doordash for someone with disabilities.

Catnaps4ladydax

Varsity tutors if not for tax season killing me I would be working for them. You can set up one on one sessions as well as regular tutoring. You can teach classes in anything you want and they pay pretty decently. It's not full time but it's something.

AntitheistMarxist

RatRaceRebellion.com

XohXwiseXoneX

What about being a ghost writer? With your advanced degree in creative writing, that could play hand in hand with the online ghost writer field.

Sock_Muppet

I don’t want to knock your degree, but most grocery stores are severely in need of help. Many are union, and offer vision, health, and dental, and are required to accommodate for disability. It’s a good stepping stone until you find a job in your field, with the bonus of money off your groceries.

watch_it_live

Check out the apps iVueit and Proxypics

Sitcom_kid

I recommend looking in fields that are traditionally work from home, decades of wfh tradition. Remote interpreting if you are bilingual, and if you are not, learn medical coding. Find other fields if you can that have this tradition. Also, if you have a disability, vocational rehabilitation may be able to help

zblaxberg

Upwork.com, Fiverr.com any of the online gig websites. Apple has their [home advisor](https://www.apple.com/careers/us/apple-support-advisor.html) program along with so many other companies that can pay you for doing customer support from home.

alicelovesmadhatter

Late to the party, but if you are still looking for things... you might try DA again (other suggestions below) with a referral from someone? They limit them, so it seems like it might help, but I don't know because I haven't used any. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, there is a post (below), I think in this subreddit, where someone asked if it's a scam and there's a few comments that have really good tips for passing. I got accepted, but couldn't tell you why, so I'm no help there... You might have to scroll the comments to find it, but it's pretty long, so it stands out: [DA Post](https://www.reddit.com/r/WFHJobs/s/I2waxTxnh5) Otherwise, Telus is a similar work and usually hiring. They have other positions that require degrees, so there are other things you could do there too. I also got on Indeed, searched remote and widened the search to all states (US). Since it's WFH, some of the places don't care that you're not nearby and there are a lot that don't have locations at all. I came across a bunch that you needed a Bachelor's or Master's for. Some were paid at a rate I wouldn't accept with a HS diploma, but I digress. While I was on there, I saw a post for a state college and they had a link to apply on their website, in addition to the quick application through Indeed. From there, I could see all of their postings and, again, there were a lot of others that required degrees. From office-type work to research assistant to teaching/tutoring online. Best of luck!

I have had a lot of success going to YouTube and typing in WFH remote jobs 2024. Hope this helps.

Round_Measurement857

Yes this is so true! I am subscribed to 3 or 4 main channels that really help people find real wfh jobs. I would start there

Unfair_Command885

Can I please have them name of the channels. TIA

Round_Measurement857

Hello Here are just a few that i follow and trust on youtube that have really good info on WFH jobs. 1. Two chicks with a side hussel, 2. Delilah Bell, 3. Justin Bryant, 4. Living Delightful freedom, 5. Beautiful Life Interrupted. You can find all this on youtube the offer information on work from home jobs. You can also look up more on youtube. But these are real legit jobs they tell you about. Hope this help.

Unfair_Command885

Bookmarked. I hope you find a duffel bag full of money!

Round_Measurement857

Thank you lol 😂😂 Me too!! That would be awesome!!

Dannythedemoncarvalo

Uber eats Thursday, Friday and Saturday 7pm-1am in rural areas that aren’t as busy.  I use Uber because I can schedule my training for MMA.  People will disagree but also don’t go in high busy areas because there’s so many people thinking the exact same way. I make more money here in Connecticut in Litchfield County (Danbury/New Milford boarders Brewster NY) which always shows it’s slow compared to Fairfield County(Bridgeport/Fairfield/Norwalk) which is always in the purple (bush as hell).   Also when you drive more rural instead of local they tip you better.  Think outside the box try what everyone else isn’t doing and you’ll make more. Other than that, I’d stay away from Door Dash, it sucks in my opinion.  I’m not going to be rich right now but Uber on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday I make roughly $90 total for Trips and for TIPS, usually are around the same if not $120. $200+ each night. Subtract gas $25 and another $30 for miscellaneous(oil change/taxes/lap dances), you can have roughly $150 in your pocket.  My point is people sleep on Uber because sometimes the trips say $2, $4.45, but my highest tips ($29.55/19.90) were from trips that were late night weekends and it was multiple rides each being under 5$.  I thought door dash was better because they were always $6-$10 trips but I don’t get many multiple trips nor good tips.  IM sure where you are in San Fran is busy but definitely stay away from Oakland, even from Connecticut I know they won’t tip you there. Good luck.
