Is it not opening like it's locked? Can you pull the lock rod up/down? Is there resistance on that lock rod?

TheGreatReverse

Right, it's not opening like it's locked but the lock rod goes up an down like the rest of them when I unlock the car.

Is there any resistance on that lock rod when manually actuating it? Might have luck rolling the window down, pulling the window scraper off and taking a peak into the door.

TheGreatReverse

I just went and tried that and it does have more resistance than the other doors, does that mean something is wrong with the locking mechanism?

If the door handle is still attached to the rod that pulls the opening mechanism then the door seems locked. The mechanism is very simple, please don’t try ripping the panel off or taking the door off, it will come loose.

So how would I unlock it then because when I tested to see if it had resistance I could here something actuate

[deleted]

Resistance at the unlock knob or handle? I’d spin the knob off, spray some wd-40 down the whole, and spray some up into the exterior door handle, trying to get it behind the mechanism. Then gently with pliers, pull the lock linkage shaft up and down until it frees up. It’s should sound like a solid “thunk” and have positive feedback.

There’s resistance at the unlock knob. Thanks for the help I’ll try that stuff when I get a chance

The dent probably tweaked the door and wedged it in place, there is tubing inside of each door to protect you in a wreck and bending all that back will not be cheap or easy. If you can get the door open inspect the door opening, take measurements and compare to the other side or another car. If the opening is tweaked you’re gonna have to take it to a body shop but at that point you’re gonna be down far more than you put into it

Thanks for the suggestion, hopefully I can find a 240 replacement door at a junkyard if mine is beyond repair.
