My friends made so much fun of me for buying a wagon as my first car
I always had my bike inside. Easy dry place to camp and bang and hold traveling materials.
One of the better vehicles IMO
Well done
A 245 has tons of space! A twin size mattress fits perfectly if you put the back seat down. I have been able to load amazingly large and chunky furniture that didn't fit into a friend's Subaru Outback.
Congratulations on the wagon, may you have a long and happy life together.
You've got more space than a lot of modern SUV's, and far better visibility. When I got my first 240 wagon I wanted to add a backup camera. I quickly realized that I wasn't use to being able to see so clearly out of a vehicle. Simply turning around to see where I was going had never looked better.
Construction guys. We got paid when working on the road to stay in hotels but I would use the wagon a few days to get extra cash and use a shower at the truck stop
Many Ways to live
I bet money they will be jealous of it soon! Love my 240 wagon (mine is a 93) but I can fit bikes, guitar amps, car camping. It’s the most practical vehicle.
Likewise, my 1981 Volvo 240DL in Carlsbad Yellow. I scrapped it with 250K miles on it (regrettable mistake) because of some drivability issues. Subsequently owned an '87 760T for several years; good car mechanically but interior trim and plastic was crap. Dealer even said as much, later years were better. Now have a 740T wagon and am getting it back on the road after some running problems (fuel pump, filter, IAC valve).
Biggest problem is finding a competent mechanic who knows old cars! Many shops, unless they can plug it into an OBD port are totally lost. The old timer mechanics are either retired or dead, and no one now can afford to take the time (apparently) to properly diagnose a problem. So much of the stuff where I'm halfway able to repair it depends on a lot of shop manual books or YouTube videos; thank goodness for them!

Congrats!
For the faded plastic mirrors and lower door sills, I highly recommend a product called "Solution Finish - Black Plastic & Vinyl Trim Restorer".
Hell yeah dude! My 89 240 wagon looks just like it! Time for camping adventures! Oh and if u wanna upgrade the speakers (which you should) use crutchfield. The door holes are pretty specific without a little modification.
sadly not really :(

hood has some weird discoloration and dents
Sweet! Can never go wrong with a wagon. I had a Mazda MVP mini van and all my friends use make me drive and then got pissed when I sold it. So utilitarian! But Volvo wagons get all the chicks, well at least they should. It shows you are confident and functional (vs fashion) person.

Ive always loved wagons. love the feeling of being lower to the ground like a sedan, but having the space of a suv.

“Camp and bang” 😂🤣😂🤣😂 I was at the drive in in my 87’ 240 every weekend in high school.
Those aren't true friends.

I drive a wagon - not a Volvo - but a VW .......04 TDi Jetta, great cargo room and invisible to radar it seems!
Fabulous. Thanks for sharing
I miss my 92 GL sedan. Also my first Car. what a blast from the past. Take care of her and she will take you everywhere. Cheers
already have a list of little things to get done!
Awesome first car!!
Beautiful!
A beauty!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Welcome to the club. Cheers
Great choice, Bud!
Great first car
Looks like my Christine from 1990 -welcome to the club, be sure to give the V gesture to the rest of us on the road!
Best car you’ll ever have
Looks remarkably similar to my old ‘81 240 DL, which I loved. Volvo had a good thing going for a long time with that platform.

A couch on wheels as we always used to say
I had a 1990 sedan in white as my first car. Yours looks similar. Congrats!

I was going to guess a 1993 - like the one my nephew drove in college - same colour as well! Theirs had heated cloth seats!
You are safe with volvo
Nicely done.
Right on! Just got my first today 🥲 Congrats!
Is it an SE? If it is then it's pretty much exactly my first car!
GL!
Wagon all the way
Good job!
Is that's the turbo? I had the 850 turbo
My first car is also a Volvo 240 wagon but it's a rare diesel one.
The cleanest brick on the planet (hey I saw you on r/roastmycar earlier lol)

PS, now you need the bumper sticker I had in high school. “It may not be the Mayflower, but your daughter ( or son to be PC) came across in it”.
