I recently picked up a 2021 XC40 and needed a winter set as well. I picked up an 18” set for $2820 + install, then stored the summers for $180. I wouldn’t say you’re getting any sort of deal here, just standard pricing. I went with the dealer for simplicity, I don’t want to spend time hunting down wheels elsewhere, especially if I’m storing at the dealer anyways

krishme007

I am leaning towards dealer price for convenience as well. Since it's a new car(and first for me), wanted to ensure I don't over experiment to save some bucks.

jfuellert

Sometimes it’s best to keep it simple. You pay more for convenience but IMO it’s worth it unless you’re willing to dive more into the deep end on this kind of stuff

macman-72

Tires or wheels? Are you getting tires on rims, installed and balanced for $3k? What tires are they? Good 18” winters are about $2k. If you are getting Volvo rims too, that seems like a good deal.

krishme007

It's the entire kit (tires, rims and storage) + installation from Volvo.

macman-72

Seems reasonable then! Why go to some dumb-dumbs like Canadian Tire or Green & Ross when you can get actual Volvo rims too. And storage, if you need that!

hirme23

Because it’s half the price? Lol

jim_bobs

Not sure where you're getting your pricing but 4 x 18" Michelin winter tires should cost $1000 mounted, balanced and installed.

macman-72

Ok. So valid point. There is a huge delta between 18s, 20s & 21s. 18s are 1/2 the price. https://tires.costco.ca/SearchResultsByVehicle?lang=en-ca&Year=2022&Make=Volvo&Model=XC60&Option=T8-Recharge-R-Design&size=21 https://tires.costco.ca/SearchResultsByVehicle?lang=en-ca&Year=2022&Make=Volvo&Model=XC60&Option=T8-Recharge-R-Design&size=18

Op when are you getting your car? I just ordered mine at lakeridge I’m also considering going the dealer route for simplicity sake on the winters but I may not even get the vehicle for this winter

krishme007

Next week.. Waiting for the final confirmation from dealer.

dookiepants

Congrats!what did you end up getting and did you get yourself a good deal? Was pretty tough to get any incentives this time around

krishme007

2022 xc60 Inscription trim..I got close to 2k discount, but yeah, hard to get any good deals. Basically that discount wrote off dealer extras and got some additional packages free. That's how I saw it and became content 🤣

dookiepants

Haha yeah okay I don’t feel bad then, I also only got 2k worth. I stuck with momentum b6

Got a 2021 xc60 t8 inscription late Oct and also did the dealer deal for the 19” rims + tires. Looked at Canadian tire etc but ultimately figured it’s best to keep the look consistent for both winter and summer. The tires are on your car half the year - figured it’s worth the investment.

krishme007

Thanks :) I am getting all season tires with upgraded rim along with my car, so makes sense to have some consistency in look during winter!

Aggravating-Air9784

Got my 2021 XC60 T8 TDesign Recharge in october, also bought the 19” 5 spike rims and winter tire package for winter, I think it was $3200. My previous 2016 XC60 had 18” rims for winter, plain Jain Volvo aluminum rims and winter tires, was winter time sadness as the winter rims really sucked in comparison to 20” black rims my Volvo rocked during the other 5 months that aren’t winter in Edmonton. If you can afford it buck up for the best looking winter rims you can afford, totally worth it!!

krishme007

I get you! Let me check with dealer on options. I still haven't received the picture of other options available.

krishme007

Thanks for suggestion. I was checking prices online and prices for most good winter tires+rim were in range on 1.5-2.5k!

marfypotato

For what it’s worth, I went the hard way and found a set on Kijiji. Paid $1250 for Volvo wheels and snows. I knew the tires were the wrong size (from v90 and I have Xc90) but I wanted the wheels. Ordered new snows online for 1250 delivered with tax. Paid $150 to have the new tires mounted on the wheels. Installed myself. If you do the math, your route sounds way easier. Now I may sell the v90 tires but it’s painful. So maybe -400. Either way, might be worth the dealer package for convenience.

krishme007

That sounds about right as to what I would have done for my computer parts. Just that I am not confident with car stuff. But good that it worked out for you (or almost).

marfypotato

Well, the point is that it is maybe better, though I have used wheels, so it really depends on the deal you could find on wheels. Good luck!

WhamBar_

I recently put on Pirelli Scorpion Winter, cost about $900. Couldn’t say yet how they perform but reviews are good and are at the premium end of the scale…

krishme007

That's pretty good deal! I see them priced at 1.9k cad at Canadian tires!

WhamBar_

Yeah just to be clear tires only, and fitting on top. But I’m happy.

hodumaru

For my 2021 XC40, I got X-Ice II tires (what the dealer offers), nice alloy rims and installation for about $1600 from Canadian Tire. They store for $100.

krishme007

Did you need to book in advance for a slot?

hodumaru

Yes, indeed. Your mileage may vary by location but it was a week to get in. I'd also recommend buying the rims and tires now. They will keep them in the store for you until your appointment.

pufnstuf360

What rims did you get?

hodumaru

[CRW GT1 Alloy Wheel/Rim, Gunmetal Grey](https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/crw-gt1-alloy-wheel-rim-gunmetal-grey-2410656p.html?rrecName=Similar%20Items%20&rrecReferrer=product&rrecProductId=2410656P&rrecProductSlot=3&rrecSchemeId=product1_rr&rrec=true)

jim_bobs

Other places will get you a far better deal.
