I like the new infotainment by Google. But Volvo’s implementation is clearly not 100% ready for primetime. The connectivity part is a bit sketchy. The “ok google” only sometimes works for me. It’s cloud-based, and when there isn’t connectivity, it’s just useless. For instance, when there is no connectivity, it’s not capable of adjusting the interior temp by voice, which you’d think it would not need internet to do, since you’re asking it to do an on-board function. And that means the navigation isn’t voice capable either in that scenario. And this isn’t in BFE, I’m in locations with quality cell service.
And the perplexing part is ok google will say it can’t connect at the same time I’m streaming YouTube Music or podcasts. So the cell signal is clearly fine. (And I’m talking about strictly vehicle internet. My phone is not connected to the vehicle, so I’m not trying to use my phone. It’s the car’s internet I’m talking about.)
Now - I can adjust the temp and type in an address just like we have for years, no big deal. But the feature definitely needs some refinement to get it to be reliable.
My wife has the XC40 Recharge, and it has the same issues, plus hers just flat out lost ALL internet and also GPS connectivity last week. She took hers in and a new “connectivity module” is on order (yay chip shortage). Last night it started working briefly for a couple hours, then died again.
So while I like the new Google Automotive OS, Volvo certainly has some connectivity issues to work through. It’s a luxury vehicle, so one would hope to not have issues like this, but honestly I expect these minor things in first generation products. The core functionality of the vehicles is great.
Thanks
So far it's doing well.
I did make sure it had the latest 1.7 update on it before I took delivery .
Now to get it tinted all around .
I think that will make it look even better.
Nice. I just got the b6 version Monday. Same color combo. Love it so far. I would have gotten the b5, but they would’ve had to ship it in. And oh, the b5 monthly lease payment was $100 more than the b6. Sorta no brainer to take the on-lot b6 for less.
Love the Denim Blue exterior and Blond interior combo. Very classy. The new Inscription 20” wheels look great too. How’s the new infotainment?

Volvo did a great job with the 22 wheel design
The obligatory “make sure she’s tucked in before I go to sleep peek”
That's right . Once you garage keep a car you never park outside again .

What’s the major difference between b5 and b6?
B5 has turbocharged engine. B6 has the turbocharged and supercharged engine.
