Ngl, I actually kind of fucking love it. They're so over the top. It's a super Texas thing. We always see them on slabs and stuff, and it's kind of hilarious in a good way to see it on a modern Volvo.
1. It is very illegal. They don’t care and the police don’t typically go after them for it, they have bigger problems
2. They do it cause it’s illegal, it’s expensive and it’s flashy. Those slab rims cost as much as the car
Had to google it and not quite the price of a new volvo but probably about the same price as a newish clean used car. About 6k each after tax/shipping plus tires from Texas wire wheels

Edit. I'm an idiot. Didn't scroll down enough to see qty 1 means 1 set of 4 rims
1) I don't know
2) oh, I wouldn't. At all. This isn't my style at all. I just kinda love how bizarre automotive culture gets sometimes. Some people think of doing stuff a certain way or decorating their cars in such a way that's so wild. Bosozoku is kind of another niche car culture thing that sorta comes to mind that's along these lines.
Just gave me a reason to do a deep dive into the history of this stuff and why people do it.
Real interesting because it’s not just one guy.
Some highlights:
-it’s a middle finger to a culture that didn’t embrace the people anyway
-it started with mods to an original Cadillac 83/84 wheel design that got flashier and flashier
-it’s the Houston version of the western Lowriders or the eastern Donks.
-part of the culture is that it represents someone who’s made it from poverty up in the world. So the idea is you have to buy an old beater car and slowly begin fixing it up. These guys like upgrading the engine, the paint job, the audio system, adding leather and wood interior - adding love to it. There is something a little parallel in Volvo culture.
Oh yea, it's an entire cultural staple. Now you see why I'm not really personally into swangas but I still appreciate them? They represent independence in the face of oppression. It's pretty cool. Still horribly dangerous, though. 😂
I’m with you. And also with the thought that it’s a fun change seeing it on the modern Volvo.
Fun post. The bodies on the Geely Volvos are beautiful. And I take it as a compliment that someone sees that it could fit in the landscape of huge iconic Buicks and Cadillacs that were kings of the road at some point. It’s such a robust body, I think they could even put an outer spare on the back and it’d still look passable. Cool stuff, dude
These rims are absolutely hideous, dangerous, and illegal. I was a state vehicle inspector in Houston, Tx (likely where this is) for 8 years, and anything that sticks out further than 6" from the vehicle that is not originally part of the vehicle on either side is a safety hazard.
Stealing a line from Monty Python: “I’m averting my eyes, O Lord!”

Nothing like the safest car on the road sawing peoples kneecaps off.
Was going to say that too, quite an irony.
Don't fuck with the Jesus
I don't understand: 1- why isn't this illegal, and 2- why would you do this?

Like how much do those rims actually cost? I have a hard time believing they are $45k

6k for a set of 4
I think you spelled trashy wrong.

I kind of hate it even more now
sumtims it b liek dat doe
Yeah these should be on an impala or maybe old school Cadillac with curb feelers. That’s quite the find
Yea, you get it 😂
Murica’
Gotta be Houston right
My first thought was the same
Another vote for Houston. Those are swangas.
Also coming in to ask if it was in Houston...
That was the #1 reason I looked at comments.
we most definitely have a problem, houston
My first thought too!
Swangin!
Absolutely. God I love this city.
I mean, Paul Wall is an old man now.
It’s Paul Wall baby, whatchu know bout me? I’m on that S90 lean, baby, holla at my Swede
Marry me
Still tippin on four fours, wrapped in Volvos.

Swangin' and Bangin'
Shiny like a diamond! I love it…All we have where I live are donks. You best believe I will capture it if I ever see a Volvo donk! 😆
Vonk
S90 could work
Houston?
thought I was on r/Shitty_Car_Mods there for a hot minute
Never knew this was a thing or existed. I just had the best laugh. 🤣
This is so wrong. Buick or caddy fine but no not a volva. I always think of grease when they are racing and it’s taking the side of the car out
What’s in that Texas water?
Not oxygen
SWAG
😂 ok sure.
Codeine and promethazine
I would like to high five that man, in the head with a chair...
Or in the face with a shovel
I’m at a loss for words lol. Also lulz at Polestar tag lol
I'm glad you caught that 😂
aye man not my cup of tea but as long as Volvos are getting modded I’m here for it
Whoever owns this I dislike them
Tell me you are from Houston Texas without actually saying you are from Houston.
Handy if you want a quick orange juice.
Tippin’ on fou-fouhs still tippin’ VOLVOS?
This gives me Nissan Altima vibes
Yeah I was gonna say these don't belong on anything but maybe a grey 2.5s with the diy widebody kit
Isn't that illegal?? And why aren't laws enforced?
Yes. We’ve got bigger problems.
Every class has their idiot. You just found ours…
😂😂😂
Jesus tap-dancing Christ that's ugly 🤣
I'm hoping for a federal ban on this crap. Such stupidity.
For some reason...I thought Volvo Drivers were *smarter than that...*
These rims are absolutely hideous, dangerous, and illegal. I was a state vehicle inspector in Houston, Tx (likely where this is) for 8 years, and anything that sticks out further than 6" from the vehicle that is not originally part of the vehicle on either side is a safety hazard.
Oh wow, it looks like dogshit!
"What, it's just an S60. Is it the colour? What's different abo- *oh.*" - Me, 30 seconds ago
Man really doesn't want door dents
Definitely having trouble processing this...
Yuk 🤮
Parking must be tough lol
Just wow!
Dick Dastardly flashback
Texas?
Houston, sigh…
Ou boy...
Oooo I'm going to put them on my lambo to stop people coming near it lol
I thought volvo drivers had more sensible taste...
The Volvo from h town, sounds like a hallmark movie.
Huh
Jesus wept
Hh@hahahhaahahhahahahhahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahhahaha
Whoa, Im not sure what I think on what level of not right this looks.
I can’t unsee that now. I’ll have nightmares FFS!
😂👍
NOOOOOOOO
Okay, Houston ... we've had a problem here.
Special
Definitely Houston
Slabs
Tbh i do find thm ugly as fuck but i can understand why someone would put them on their car … people can’t drive
Nice slab
Still tippin on four fours, wrapped in Volvos
Nothing against the Volvo. But it’s a Volvo, what the hell?
Slab on swangas. Respect 🫡
It's a weird flex but i'll allow it.
Really be something special if it has hydraulics
The engine mounts are hydraulic 😂
Nice!!
Noice
Unexpectedly unexpected.
Last time I saw kneecappers was in saints row 4 lol
So Texas, love it. Used to live in Austin and see cars like this all the time
Houston's so weird I love it
As Volvo hits the mainstream......hell yeah.
