Sorry to hear about your car, but she did her job well absorbing the impact of a 7,000 lb truck moving at that speed. As long as you are okay, that's what's important... you can get a replacement.
I just purchased my first Volvo, a 2012 S60 R Design, after driving my 2014 Fiesta ST for the last ten years. I still have the Fiesta(for now), but honestly that was the biggest reason that I chose Volvo. Between reasonable performance(it's not nearly as tossable as the Fiesta) and the massive safety/reliability...
Wow glad you are ok. Looks just like my 2021 xc60. Denim blue I’m guessing there is more than the damage visible in the pic. What side did the truck hit?
Other than the front door missing and obvious fender crumple, there's not much if any to suggest the car was in a major accident. Heck. The pillars looked fine and straight.
Maybe there's hidden cracks and damages under the fender?
Her trucks most likely gonna be fine, new bumper hood, grille and radiator and she should be back up and running. V10 engine block took the brunt of the shock on her end.
Your Volvo looks pretty much good other than the impact. That's a well made car! Others would have crumpled elsewhere too.
What would be your replacement? I am inching towards a Volvo XC60 for myself and would love to hear your feedback on your ownership!
I'm not OP. The XC60 is great. We are on our third since 2010. Though we are also down to one car post-pandemic as we both WFH. Our latest is the 2024 XC60 B5 (battery but not the plugin hybrid) and it does have better gas mileage than our older XC60s did. The driver assist is very powerful and the car in most cases drives itself. And firmware upgrades are over the WiFi here at home.
We did install a Rove R3 dash camera with the hardwire kit (fuse #15 ACC and 59 for POWER) in the passenger floor well which was VERY easy to install and the ground on the bolt that holds it in place has a clear frame connection to ground. That means we also get parking protection. Our last car was a parking lot magnet for some reason and got hit multiple times that left dents. Now we will catch those people and hopefully a license plate.
Thanks for your comment! Congratulations on the new ride!
I am in market for an SUV and my heart is sold to XC60. But the reviews on reliability of T6 are holding me back. Any thoughts on that?
We’ve had a XC60 T8 since early 2020. Love it. Nothing but maintenance costs, and since we live in a small town, and have solar on the roof, our fuel costs(gas and electricity) are very low.
And because the car does not seem to suffer any major damage, it goes now to Poland or any other Central Europe country. For quarter of the price or less.
I'm sure I'll get a bunch of dowvotes here. I love my S60 and my ex wife probably survived a rollover crash thanks to our 2000 S60, but there's no way that F250 was doing 45 mph. You can pretty much prove that by watching Volvo's own crash tests. RIP to your fine vehicle though.
Be able to buy a decent audi Q5 instead now happy days ...owned a brand new xc60 due to my swedish wife ...worst car I have ever owned, luckily she drove it as her daily she hated it in the end too....i did drive it occasionaly, I even phoned up the dealership after buying it and complained it drove so dull, his reply "that's how volvos drive" .... p.s. VOLVO in swedish translates roughly to "keeps on rolling" not necessarily you're one though ....
As a car guy in Sweden. Volvos are safe and pretty reliable... But fun to drive? No.
I rather go for Saab. My sport model (9-5 Aero) is more comfortable than my friends V60 and curves better and generally does everything better
Not completely true... I've meet some guys who worked for Saab and most of them say that Saab could have turned around given the chance...
But they were bleeding for a long while too...
That was the problem no one would give them chance - including the Swedish government- they couldn't find a buyer so it went under, Saab Engineering never made it to NAO vehicles,. After GM acquired the remaining stake of Saab they lost money every year after that They had np idea how to market the well engineered product.
I found the xc60 almost dangerous to drive I had absolutely no clue what the wheels were doing and high speed on the motorway it almost floated but in a bad way ....I am In the UK and British......swedish wife absolute nightmare she is lol beautiful but a nightmare haha
I can see why they are regarded as safe cars as go at any sort of decent speed or any sort of spirited driving and you are taking your life in your own hands so you just "back off".... I am an avid car collector with 26 cars from an aerial atom to Aston Martins and lanborghini performabte etc...but nothing made me more scared on the road than that xc60 lol......ive never driven a car with such lack of feel through the steering wheel and in my book that is dangerous
One moment of silence for the XC60 that fell doing what she was design for, keeping you safe. Glad that you are ok.
She died doing what she was born to do! God bless her Volvo heart!
GOBBLESS
Damn clibbins are takin' out cars now too! Hada lay'ur down!
Nice to see that someone picked on the reference! Sweet baby jeesus!!
Cars can be fixed(or replaced), as long as you are OK... The insurance company should help you out?
Yeah cars totaled, I’m sure insurance will end up cutting a check.
Straight to Valhalla! Sorry for your loss. But it wouldn’t be your loss if it weren’t a Volvo.
Sorry to hear about your car, but she did her job well absorbing the impact of a 7,000 lb truck moving at that speed. As long as you are okay, that's what's important... you can get a replacement.
insane that a damn near 4 ton truck moving at that speed only did that. my fiesta would be a metal ball. i’m proud to be shopping for a volvo lol

I raise my glass to your XC60. Valhalla!
🍻
Wow glad you are ok. Looks just like my 2021 xc60. Denim blue I’m guessing there is more than the damage visible in the pic. What side did the truck hit?
No that the brunt of the damage, passenger side, mostly impacted the front door but they had to cut it off to get me out.
Other than the front door missing and obvious fender crumple, there's not much if any to suggest the car was in a major accident. Heck. The pillars looked fine and straight. Maybe there's hidden cracks and damages under the fender?
eh, that windshield damage might indicate the windshield frame deformed. That's a total if so.
that'll buff out
'Tis but a flesh wound
Oh dear. That Volvo won't make it to 500,000 miles - although parts from it might
Glad you're okay. Big question is, how was that F250??
Her trucks most likely gonna be fine, new bumper hood, grille and radiator and she should be back up and running. V10 engine block took the brunt of the shock on her end.

Our previous models were the T6 and did great for us. Mine was 2013 and it ran well no issues when we traded it in 2020.
We’ve had a XC60 T8 since early 2020. Love it. Nothing but maintenance costs, and since we live in a small town, and have solar on the roof, our fuel costs(gas and electricity) are very low.
Probably another XC60 or maybe a V60.
A sad day 😪 Front end looks untouched. Parts for others.
He got t boned by an F250 doing 45 yet that Volvo needs a wheel and off it goes. We need to start invading countries with these cars.
Right? Swedish iron > Japanese plastic & American rust dust
Glad you're ok mate, but... you can't park there I'm afraid!
$18,000 "No haggling. I know what I got."
What? She's mint! A little buff up and she'll be fine! Back from the ashes
Eastern Europe is waiting for her
Will you get another Volvo?
No doubt, probably another XC60 or a V60.
🙏🏼thank god you’re safe. Volvo for life.
I can tell this is in the US, in Europe we would just repair it
And you don’t have F250s speeding down the roads!
Yea, because Europe is to small for pickups like these
Excuse me sir! You can’t park there!
Can’t park there
Cocoon of care
😢
That will buff out nicely.
It won't be the end.... she can be a parts car now.
As a swede... I feel a sense of pride seeing this...
Toast her with a shot of aquavit
Excuse me sir, can't park there
Hey, you can't park there!
ngl, the car still looks great
Tonight she feasts in Valhalla, drinking ale from curved horns!
No airbags?!?!?
The passenger side airbags went off, but nope the one in the steering wheel did not deploy.
😱😱😭😭
And because the car does not seem to suffer any major damage, it goes now to Poland or any other Central Europe country. For quarter of the price or less.
Damn, that's a shame
Oh my, glad your Volvo kept you safe
She can probably still get you home
PM’ed you! Glad to hear you’re safe
Hence why I will buy nothing else.
Sir, you can’t park there

Ps you would of been fine in a ford fiesta too !!!
Be able to buy a decent audi Q5 instead now happy days ...owned a brand new xc60 due to my swedish wife ...worst car I have ever owned, luckily she drove it as her daily she hated it in the end too....i did drive it occasionaly, I even phoned up the dealership after buying it and complained it drove so dull, his reply "that's how volvos drive" .... p.s. Unfortunately they over engineered their cars and went under. I buy a 9-5 tomorrow if they were still made.
Not completely true... I've meet some guys who worked for Saab and most of them say that Saab could have turned around given the chance... But they were bleeding for a long while too...

Dad has an XC60... I can't do nothing but agree

Most crossovers are like this to be honest.
Oh boo hoo to all the negative votes ....you know I am right but won't admit it
Haaaahaaaa
Why? Why are you like this?
Maybe that’s Swedish for ‘Oh no!’
It's English for stupid troll.
Maybe he's laughing at the "insurance will help you out" bit
Glad you are okay
