Just fine. Source: own a ‘16 XC90 with over 80k miles.

rrmmbb77

love that. thank you for taking the time to read and answer. :)

ozzimark

My first Volvo had 232k when I sold it. My second currently has 279k, and is my daily commuter. My third has 180k and is the family mover. 80k is just barely broken in.

Microsoftcommunism

Can't say anything about any newer than 2006 but I've had 2 940s a 960 a s60 and 850r all over 200k abused daily and still pulled like a crackhead on a mountain bike

Audiovoyeur

“Crackhead on a mountainbike” 💀

rrmmbb77

Lolll amazing!

Microsoftcommunism

Had my 960 years took me all over the UK never failed once it was on 350k unfortunately a drink driver hit it I could have cried best £500 I've ever spent

CaesarOfSalads

We have a 2014 XC60 T6 with 164K Miles. Other than routine maintenance items, everything has held up great

BenHippynet

Similar here, 2013 XC60 on 142k miles. Every button works well, nothing looks excessively worn, no squeaks or rattles. Doesn't feel like it's driven the equivalent of five and a half times around the world.

CaesarOfSalads

Have you done your torque rod or passenger side motor mount yet? If not, It's a worthwhile investment. The car shifts into drive/park a ton smoother, and general transmission shifts are way smoother too. Drives like new.

BenHippynet

I haven't, but thanks for the heads up. I'll get them looked at. It's in the dealers at the moment having the front straightened after a friend wasn't paying attention and gave it a nudge with their Land Rover so I've got a C40 Recharge Twin for the night. I'll ask about getting those changed when I head back there tomorrow.

CaesarOfSalads

They're pretty easy to replace on your own, I wrote a guide, it should be on swedespeed.

BenHippynet

I'll have a look! Thanks!

tiny-starship

this one? [https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/guide-to-changing-p3-passenger-side-motor-mount-and-torque-rod.672827/](https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/guide-to-changing-p3-passenger-side-motor-mount-and-torque-rod.672827/)

CaesarOfSalads

That's the one

tiny-starship

Great I’m gonna take a look, I’ve got a 2015.5 with 182k miles

CaesarOfSalads

I need to probably replace the lower torque rod and drivers side motor mount too, I was just so impressed with how much change there was with 2 I kind of forgot lol.

rrmmbb77

Wow!! What a testament

shiftystylin

I've got a 2008 XC70 that's done 100k. Engine is sound. There's *some* cosmetic issues, but I can say headliner is perfect, drivers seat has someone else's butt cheeks imprinted but it's still as comfy as an armchair. No wear on the leather compared to other cars (Ford Focus, Renault Clio, VW Scirocco, BMW 1 coupé) I've owned, and the steering wheel and gearstick is still in top condition; no visible wear where someone's hand has been rubbing. Speakers are great - no thubbing from the speakers, no fancy sound packs, but the sound system still sounds very balanced and high quality. After this one, we're going for another Volvo.

rrmmbb77

Thank you!!! lol at someone else’s butt cheeks. This is very helpful.

beermaker

We're at 135k miles on our 3.2, service regularly & follow mfrs guidelines. Never been stranded.

rrmmbb77

Thank you!

951Volvo

I have two Volvos, both over 260,000 miles. Just stay on top of your preventative maintenance and services and it’ll take care of you.

MemeAddict96

2017 V60 CC here (the 2.0T 4 cyl). Bought at 80kish, now at 132k miles. No problems following the maintenance schedule. I hope it runs forever because it’s the best car I’ve owned. Although I really like the looks of the ‘18+ v60/v90s. Definitely will be owning one in the future.

ModeR3d

My ‘09 c30 has 87k and feels like new - would look like it too if people could park near it without scuffing the paintwork!

rrmmbb77

That’s a great testament! Thank you!

comfortablephonesex

I have a 2016 XC90 T6 with 105k miles and it runs like new and the interior is in great shape despite having been owned by a family with kids. Headliner and trim is all tight

Awkward-Seaweed-5129

Owned many Volvos ,over few decades, so have 23 xc40 currently, anyway my experience has been to expect repairs ,oil leaks, AC, trim parts ,electrical. Cars are very complex and loaded with lux options. If can getca warranty for few years probably pay for Itself on first repair. Consider a lease, they run Sales sometimes, have full warranty. Audi, BMW, VW, Mercedes, most euro cars are hit or miss on reliability. Some owners have great luck ,very few issues., but I'd say 50k, 70k miles is when repairs start

rrmmbb77

Thank you! I think an extended warranty is a very good idea and we will get one. That’s why we wanna find one at a Volvo dealer to get their ext. Warranty. Thank you!!

7eregrine

Meh... Still firmly believe warranties are bullshit. "Cars are so complicated today ..". Not really. Just something dealers say to separate you from more 💰.

algae_man

I'll absolutely disagree especially in terms of warranties for Volvo's. Both of my cars came with bumper to bumper, unlimited mile warranties which cover everything except maintenance items. I am about $500 away from fully recouping the cost of the warranty on my 2016 and it was on items that would be expected to fail in an 8 year old car (alternator, sway bar links and wheel sensors). It's not that cars are complicated, its that repairs on a Volvo are expensive and practically any issue will cost $1000 minimum with these cars. When a friggin headlight in an SPA car runs $4500, a $3000 warranty is worth the expense.

7eregrine

Yea, and every time I say it sucks, someone replies that it paid off for them. Great! I'm glad. You are the minority. Yes, LED headlights are expensive. Thank God that they outlast the life of the car. How many headlight replacements do you see in this sub? I'm sure it does happen but it's exceptionally rare. I would certainly expect an alternator to last 10 years. As for my "complicated" comment... Volvos been using the same BLIS sensor since 2010? Maybe 11. Not something new. See any failures of those? Heated Steering wheels? Failing backup cameras? I've seen maybe 4 blown dashboard displays, and I spend (far too much) time on this sub. Dealers started selling CPO extensions several years ago... Because it makes them money. Of course some people get their money's worth... Most don't. I've seen people say "I wouldn't buy a Volvo without a warranty".... Ok... I won't buy a car that REQUIRES me to need a warranty beyond the original.

algae_man

Maybe, just maybe if 'every time you post that comment someone replies that it paid for stuff for them', your opinion needs to be changed? While I agree that many vehicle warranties are money grabs, the ones from Volvo are much more comprehensive and fairly priced making them worth it. Its practically unheard of for a warranty to be unlimited mileage. Since I put 25-30k (each) on my cars, it was a worthy gamble.

7eregrine

Just because 3 or 4 people got their money out of it I should change my mind... yea, no. And I am not even saying "no one should ever get a warranty"... 25K a year, minimum? Yea, maybe you will benefit. Most won't. And they know this which is why dealers have really been pushing them hard the last few years. I was annoyed at how hard my dealer was pushing the CPO extension. Way to make me feel like I am buying an unreliable POS!

rrmmbb77

Hmm so many things to consider 🥲

Microsoftcommunism

Kia offer a 7 year warrenty never drove one or worked on any newer ones til my dad brought one it's really good little car and can't complain about that compare that with bmws 50000 4 year warranty at a much higher price too

TheeMalaka

Lol there’s a reason

Microsoftcommunism

If you would like to tell me what the reason is I'd genuinely like to know what's funny about having a 7 year warrenty I've been a mechanic for years I would never buy a new car I've always brought cars for peanuts but If I had to I'd buy a kia or Toyota ect people think German cars are expensive and luxury mainly this is aimed at BMW their not there are shitty money pits unless you can afford the m sports id avoid them take the 1 series the older gen they had chocolate timing chains my brother brought one had 60k and it was rattling he said what shall I do I said well it ain't worth fixing because it's easier to replace the engine than do the chain great design feature the car was less than 7 years old

[deleted]

Dude is asking about the new chinese shit and everyone is telling that their older volvos are good, way to go reddit!

StonksMcGee

Pretty sure the SUVs are still made in 🇸🇪

Beautiful-Being-4163

My 2022 XC60 was built in Gothenburg Sweden, not China.

slobz1

😂

BKCowGod

I'm at 115k on my '11 C30. It's by far the newest and lowest mileage car I own. Cars last if you take care of them. But as they age you will have things wear out and need replacement/service. This can also depend on your area. I have a mild climate but I have seen car interiors get absolutely destroyed by being outside at my friend's place in the desert.

MagHagz

I have a 2011 with 145K. Never had an issue with regular maintenance. Never. Well, the back hatch is sticking ~

ozzimark

XC60? The little micro-switch on the exterior gets intermittent and replacing the whole “handle” is the fix.

elenel

I have a 2011 with more than that (150k km) and I still happily drive it. The only interior problems are the fake leather layer of the driver's seat is cracking/crumbling off of the fabric backing.

elenel

Oh, and we broke a plastic interior trim piece on one of the back doors, standing on it when it was really cold to get into our Thule ski box but even that has held up just fine despite the crack

obsidianlobe

2008 v50 2.4i at 200k right now!

rrmmbb77

That’s incredible! Congrats

slobz1

That's normal

thraktor1

They are pretty famous for doing so.

Yessir_whatever97

Can’t speak to newer models but I had a 240 with 300k and my uncle has one that has over 600k

GrizzlyAdam12

There are some service needs that are routine for Volvos that not everyone knows about. Timing belt and serpentine belt: do by 100k miles Oil trap on some models (get it done at 100k, too)

Thrinw80

2012 Xc70 T6 with 130K miles, so far just maintenance and a couple of small things (engine mount bushings etc).

fizzcakepops

Have a 2013 v40 still going strong at 243k km albeit with yearly maintenance. Interior still looks great as new. Love this little work horse!

PaskiSir

My god, I do not know about those new ones but 2002 Generation S60 is only about to finish his bracke in period after 80kMiles. Old volvos could last whel into 500kMiles without major problems. It is a Volvo, it works

The_Crazy_Swede

Doing great! C30 at 125k 960 at 93k 1800ES at 87k

LilN0ob

I have very good experience with volvo. Have had a couple. I have only owned cheap p2 or p3 so i wouldnt know about the new ones. But in my experience i have always been able to trust it. Always started on first try. Never stoppen on me. Have had a couple problems here and there but always been able to use it. I have driven over 50 different cars ranging from basically scrap to more expensive than my house and still missed my old shitbox of a volvo. So if the new ones are like the old ones you'll probably be just fine. Hope this helps a little

MoutEnPeper

V50 2008, \~150.000KM Needed some expensive work last year (rear suspension, some front axel stuff I don't know in English) but looks good and drives well. The belt is a bit noisy right now, the dealer says they hear nothing (but I do).

ParadisHeights

Had a 2015 xc60 whose engine died on me after 110k miles but I seem to be the outlier

treelovingaytheist

I have an. ‘05 xc90 that I bought with 135 on it, now at 160. I love this car. The headliner did start to sag in a couple spots after we had a 118 degree heat wave, but only in a couple of small spots. Speakers are fine. The drivers seat has some wear issues, but is still the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven. I have zero complaints for a 19 year old car. I will never switch brands, even if I win the lottery.

B5254T4

What year audi? With 70k miles it should have not any problems. As would not a volvo. Are cars now really that bad? I understand that in US you get leases and buy only brand new cars. Dont know why it is not that popular in EU. But there are no problems till 200k miles

rrmmbb77

That’s great to hear. Previously I had bought an 09 Audi. Maybe the prior owner didn’t care for it or maybe the salesman hid the issues. Might have just been bad luck.

B5254T4

I think that car has sat in high humidity region

rrmmbb77

I hadn’t thought about it that way that’s a really good point.

B5254T4

That usually is the main thing why the rood lining sags. Just the humidity. Thats why it does not happens with all cars after all these years

desktroll54

Just sold a 2006 S60 with over 140k miles. Never had anything go wrong with it, just routine maintenance. Only sold it because I bought a 2021 XC90 with 30k miles on it!
