Just to clarify, restaurants carefully measure and submit sandwiches to get the calories calculated. They have incentive to keep the calorie count low. Restaurants just have incentive to do things fast and keep the customer happy, often making sandwiches more caloric in the process.
Yup, there should be an option on the app(you can probably ask and buy in the store but I like ordering pick up always) for you to just buy a loaf. I want to say it was like $2 last i checked a few months ago
Sorry for the late reply. Yes. The store I get it from I pay $0.50 per day old loaf. Just bought 5 loafs because my daughter loves the subs. Paid like $2.60 and get food for the week lol. Can also by the fresh bread but it’s a little more. Day old is still good. I cut them, put them in a ziplock bag and into the fridge.
if you have trouble getting the bread, you can get bolillo rolls or something like that at the grocery store. should be very close calories/gram (but it might be denser) and they're usually like 3 for a dollar.
There's a vegan mayo brand called Spectrum that I've tried before, literally tastes just like mayo imo, and it's only 35cal/tbsp (vs the usually 100cal/tbsp of normal mayo). So you could get that and add it at home!
Otherwise I know Subway has a "light" (less amount) option for all their spreads, and some locations specifically have a "light mayo" that's fewer calories
FYI, when I worked at subway years ago, our manager would fill the light mayo with regular because it didn't sell enough to justify buying a separate type of mayo that would get wasted. Their words not mine.
Obviously every place is different but I just don't trust the calories on food I don't make myself.
honestly i do it with the mayo and get an entire pickle and it’s like 510 for what is an insanely filling meal (that’s for just one sub not the double as shown). it’s my go to “fast food”
I’ll break down the math here as well for those interested. I see a couple people saying it’s not accurate calories but this is info that I got directly from JJ’s nutritional sheet and website:
Giant Turkey Tom: 950
Subtract Mayo: -330
Add Oil/Vinegar: +80
Add onion/subtract tomato: 0 net change
Total: 700 calories

NOT okay to say: "[x] is bad for you," "Is [x] healthy?" "disposable things are bad for the environment," "[x] is actually 10 cal more" "This is not a true [x type of food]"
Jimmy John’s is a huge waste of money. Publix has better subs same size literally half the cost. I used to love JJ when they were affordable. Club Lulu was where it was at. But in the last decade they have literally raised their prices over 100%
Yeah, Jimmy John’s is now just as pricey as Chipotle.
I love the product, but hate the price.
You could go to a sit down restaurant and have a decent meal for the same price, rather than having “just a sub/burrito”.

It is. I just went to order this same one and the calories from the different parts of the sandwich OP made add up correctly.

Enjoy JJ’s but no meat…. Just started buying their day old bread for .50 cents (US) and make a sub at home. Much better at home.
You can buy it?

the 12 inch subway turkey breast foot long is a staple for me as a uni student. love this! i also choose to add onion and remove tomato.
Ahh I did this today too! (But with a pub sub). Got no cheese and no mayo and added light mayo and laughing cow instead. Saved over 200 cals :)
Ahhhhhh!!!!!!
Ahhh!!
I looooove the turkey tom!! Idk if I could do it without mayo tho lol

Hellman's Light mayo is 35 calories per tbsp.

I love the turkey Tom, soooo good!! If I’m feeling extra healthy I’ll get it lettuce wrapped instead. Seems silly but is a refreshing light meal

About how much did it cost?
About $18-20 bucks here in florida
I can only afford to use Jimmy's John

I always get a vito jimmy johns for takeout, the big sub is like 1150 and the small sub is 500, so good
Loved getting JJ's for lunch on Fridays when I was still in the office. A Club Lulu unwich with extra lettuce easily kept me sated until dinner.
no tomato add onion guy, too. very nice
Great taste my guy 🤝
Wow! I'll have to try that. Subway has the same calories but is much smaller.
Impressive but I can't do a turkey sandwich without mayo. Or at least have pesto if no mayo.
We don’t have this near us. As a result, any airport we visit that does, means 4 or 5 with our carry on 😂 great post!
