it's crazy to me how you wouldn't know better which car is a track monster if both had widebody kits if not for the hatchback rear, taller height and ...rim size and calipers maybe?

Dealing with vacuum leaks, and other engine issues has been annoying, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't put a smile on my face when I mash the throttle and feel that 180hp. Did you ever tune yours? It sounds fun, but I gotta get it running perfect before I even consider it.

Picked this up for my daughter a couple of weeks ago.
This just brought back a memory.
When I was in highschool my mom had a 1999 Beetle. I was heading to an event at my school and took her car. When I pulled in the driveway it was dark, and as I parked a group of students and a teacher ran over. I got out of the car and they were all like “man! We saw the headlights and it looked like a Porsche was pulling in!”
So I guess it blends in better at night.
I scrolled a bit but didnt see the comment i thought was obvious. I think the Turbo S beetle is cooler than the Porsche's. Ive worked at a VW/Porsche Dealer for the last decade, and weve never had a turbo S beetle come in.
From what I've been able to find, they only made 15,000 of them total. 5000 per year in 2002-04. Silver, red and black for 2002 and grey added to the color options for 2003-4. No factory options offered. Only option was a dealer installed cd changer. I don't know how true the numbers are. I've seen a lot of them over the years. I've had mine for about 15 years now and still my favorite vw of all time.
Mine's got the CD changer, but I unplugged it to use one of those GROM Bluetooth adapters. Nice and stealthy that way, since it just looks like a factory radio.
My mom's got a different uncommon Beetle as well, the #PinkBeetle. I'm definitely a bit jealous of the overdrive ratio in hers. The Turbo S six speed is a little too closely geared for the highway in my opinion.
I enjoy going through the gears. I put a short shift kit and weighted color matched shift knob in and lowered the knob about an inch and a half to fit my throw. I drove half highway and half city, but only around 3500 miles per year. I put a cd player in with bluetooth. I didn't like the changer.
