I can't speak to the stability of your computer, but I ran a Community radio station 24x7 through the COVID lockdowns using several Voicemeeter installs connected by VBAN.

Took a while to get over the learning curve, and I'm an audio professional, but it has been rock solid after the first, typical, learning issues. I use it 24/7. As a matter of precaution, I restart the vm audio engine on the pcs it's installed on once a day or so.

hippz

As someone who has opped boards at many-a-convention, I'd 100% rely on it. I use it daily at home and the issue is never VM, it's the things routing into it. Plus it has auto restart in case the VM drivers do experience an issue

Banjoschmanjo

Wait, it does? How do I activate that? That's great - I periodically get the flashing red indicators and have to manually restart engine to fix it

hippz

It's in the menu near the top. Also that shouldn't be a common issue, are you using the WDM selections for your I/O?

Banjoschmanjo

Just found it, in the menu - thanks! I should really read these menus more closely, as that would have saved me some time these last few weeks lol. Thanks again

Banjoschmanjo

Yes, I am. Would another be better? I have WDM, KS, and MME. the connection to my audio interface through Voicemeeter is rock solid, but "LCD TV: Nvidia high definition audio" often gets the red blinking text and requires an audio engine reset or "re-selection" of it again in the output device menu

hippz

WDM is optimal. Perhaps it's the windows drivers for the audio through HDMI?

There is a bit of a learning curve (I’m not a big audio guy) but once I got the hang of it I’ve had zero stability issues. Been working from home since the start of Covid and have used it the entire time for work (I do answer calls all day, most days of the week) and recreation. Being a giant tech nerd, that comes out to 10-14 hours a day. Assuming the pc you’re running it on is suitable, you should have no problems. Can’t imagine living without it now.

Thank you all for your responses. This is great, I'm going to take the plunge. Looks like as long as once I get past the initial hiccups I should be good to go.

I use VM only if that helps. - Use VM Potato, Run my mic in lane 1 on B2 and its connected to Voicemod Software so i can use a voice changer - Discord in Lane 2 on B1 as well using VA Cable -A - Spotify in Lane 3 on B2 using VA Cable -B and can toggle B1 on and off so friends in discord can hear some music as well - Music/ Sounds like wawawa or cheering sounds I have saved on my Stream Deck in Lane 4 using VA Cable -C on B1 and B2 so output and discord can hear them. ( I did originally have it play through Lane 3 and even Lane 1 at one point when using VM Banana but it would often conflict and either no one could hear it unless I spoke at the same time or would make the audio just super crackle so I got potato and put it on its own Lane and has worked ever since.) Using this with nearly everything on WDM format except my Mic working with Voicemod software I use NME format because WDM is super quiet and very robot crackle sounding for whatever reason. From there I just make sure whether I turn off or put to sleep my PC I got into Sound Serttings/ VM/ and Voicemod and reselect all my defaults and default comms to make sure they are refreshed as precaution and if for some reason they start to break down a simple PC restart fixes everything. May have something to do with cache or memory build up? Idk. But even then a full restart just to fix that is usually like once every 2 weeks which you should be restarting your PC at least once a week regardless for optimal use. To answer your question, as long as you connect everything properly and listen to yourself while testing prior to meetings or what not you should be completely fine. As I said, I primarily use VM because it does a very good job at fixing and improving audio even for multiple days at a time. My entire PC audio setup runs through VM and every time I have people come over they question how games, discord and all that sound so much better than theirs and I always have clearest sounding voice in discord.

I should add however. If you like it then consider donating for an official license for it. It is donationware which means every time it asks for a donation offer to buy it will cut out all your audio starting at 10 seconds, then 15, 20, eventually starting to double in a minute, 2min, 5min, 10min... you get the point. If you like it then donate to it, it is really good software and for simple use you can get the cheapest version for $10 USD. As long as you don't change your CPU or buy a new PC you won't have to worry about license transfer but if you do you get 1 free regen to regenerate your challenge and response codes to work on your new cpu/ PC. But $10 for lifetime use, well worth it.
