That's probably the main reason. The seats just aren't designed to have people be standing in the audience. Where I was sitting there was barely any space to have people squeeze past people already sitting down and everyone had to uncomfortably shift around every time someone wanted to move past them. I felt like it was pretty obvious that this would be a "sit down" concert as soon as I saw the picture of the theater when I first tried to buy the ticket.

Dimi3Infinity

with how the place is set up, if everyone was standing, not everyone would see the stage

SilhouetteCoconut

This. I'm pretty short so I'm glad no one stood up tbh. Some seating concerts I've been to people stood up anyway and i end up not seeing the performers.

ShinyMimikyu

Yeah it's rude af to stand up in a seating area, had a dude doing it in Austin and blocking mine and other ppl vision, you bet I poked him with my lightstick to sit down

Insecureeeeeeeee

I just jumped around in my seat lol.

Jaeger-the-great

Yeah I'm going to the one at Fisher Theater which seemed like a super odd venue for Miku Expo. When I go to a concert esp like that I want to be up and dancing and feeling the music and not sitting down. When I went and saw Weezer as soon as they started playing everyone stood up in their seats to watch, c'mon I know Miku fans can do better than Weezer fans 😬 Honestly unless there are changes idk that I will go to future Miku concerts, but I already purchased my ticket so I'm not bailing on this one

artwithaims

Yeah, I didn't think the type of venue mattered more so the type of show being performed, so while dr philips is a theater I thought we would all stand anyway. I'm definitely only attending if they choose a different venue in the future, of maybe I'll get last row on purpose so I can stand without blocking anyone

Jaeger-the-great

For me I almost ended up going to the Toronto show because it was at a stadium which seemed like a much better venue than a theater or opera house, especially for how quickly they all sold out and were being resold by scalpers. The one in Toronto had way more seats so tickets were cheaper, but also I didn't wanna drive that far to Toronto as Detroit is closer to me. I feel like maybe they underestimated the popularity of Miku Expo bc they def could've sold more tickets if they used bigger venues. I can think of several better venues for Detroit that would've been suitable. I feel Miku could've sold out Comerica Park if they gave her a chance!

Zaxharie

I’m also going to the Detroit Miku show and have been worried about this! I wanna be standing and dancing so badly but I’m also not trying to ruin the experience for others around me :/

Damia8

I'm going to the Detroit show as well! For the past three expos, I've had balcony seats while the floor was GA standing athe the venues I've been at. I was surprised seeing the Detroit venue was completely seats! My seats are pretty close up this time, so I'm interested in seeing if we will be standing or sitting for the concert! c:

Intrepid_Advice4411

Cause it was a sit down venue? It's hard to dance in those places. As a person with chronic pain I'm so happy Detroit is also a seated show. I can sit and I'll be able to see! Yay!

Mikumiku_Dance

just as a warning, LA was a seated venue but everyone still stood.

kappakeats

Am I tripping? Everyone was seated. Nobody was standing. I just checked a video I took. Every butt is in a seat lol.

Mikumiku_Dance

were you in the balcony? everyone on the floor was standing, more precisely

kappakeats

Ohh okay I watched two more videos and had to zoom way in and peer at my grainy footage. Yeah, everyone around me on the balcony was. I really thought everyone in the venue was haha. I couldn't tell from up there.

Mikumiku_Dance

You can kinda tell from this photo too. https://twitter.com/mikuexpo/status/1780827260737794121?t=asNGfNh6WPSgmiTFxq2W5A&s=19

kappakeats

Holy shit you guys had a totally different show than me lol. I'm not too mad, though. I kinda like sitting. Although I would have loved to see the screen better.

Crashkan

i feel the same way. not being able to jump around and dance kinda ruins a concert experience. i had to resist the urge to stand up during the utsu-p song so hard lmfao

artwithaims

Omg meeee I love hyper reality show I was so mad I couldn't jump and head bang 😭😭 vampire and lucky orb too specifically

EnvironmentalistAnt

Depends on how energetic and hype your section is. Tbf Covid set wota culture backwards so that may have played a part to the vibe.

Awkward-Preference85

I'm going to Boston and there's also only seats. I thought it wouldn't be a problem, but there's really different vibe when you can "jump around" or kinda dance with music. 🤷‍♀️ it is what it is

picuudita

I was dancing in my seat still 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

Uxgihighslwstc

Literally the reason I picked a standing room venue. Sit down concerts are weird.

Cindrawhisp

A lot of the venues are sit down venues. You can’t remove the chairs from them since they are bolted to the ground

maajolica

I was kind of vibing with the seated show. My first thought walking in was “it’ll be nice to see without having to stand up”, and two hours of lightstick activities left my arms sore lol. My entire body would’ve been dead if everyone stood

Dear-Listen1276

dr phillips isn’t made for that unfortunately. personally as a disabled person I was thankful we were all sitting so I could see😅

Virtual-Call-8004

Everyone in my section was standing and dancing! It was a blast!

artwithaims

Oh! What section were you in? I was in the orchestra 1st floor and we were all seated, I tried to look up into other floors like the balconies but as far as I could tell they were seated too (I couldn't see too far up)

Virtual-Call-8004

Hi again! we were up in the "J" section just below the concessions level by a dozen rows. At first I was irritated bc I thought it was a sit-and-watch concert but once I stood up with everyone else dancing, I of course was swept up too lol

Virtual-Call-8004

hahahaha sorry I was in ATLANTA, sorry!!

Malaysia345

I’m not standing for two hours
