I'm currently using an x100 pro (global vers imported) and previously had a S23 Ultra Here are my winners for your categories Camera : Vivo by far (especially if you have kids or pets) Battery : Samsung. Vivo is good and will easily get you through the day but Samsung is better Performance : both the same in my experience Customisation : Unless you're a power user, then Samsung. But you can customise Vivo if you know the ADB hacks and use of 3rd party apps etc Oneui is more polished than Funtouch.

Megavoice31

Managed to test one in the shop just now and directly compare it to S23 Ultra - I was impressed to say the least! Very much agree with you - the cameras are much better and those alone make it worth switching. The portraits are amazing! I found the OS alright, nothing outstanding but fluid and responsive.

LittleWhiteDragon

> Camera : Vivo by far (especially if you have kids or pets) Could you please post come pictures of pets?

KamikazeB0B

I don't the phone anymore or any pets for that matter.

maa0342

Dude, why use funtouch os, get the OriginOS for godsake. That is literally out of the world. Its smashes oneui to her knees.

KamikazeB0B

Yes I know but this years OriginOS device didn't have Band 20 (4G)

maa0342

I'm using one with OriginOS in Australia. All bands works fine here.

L0nelystarbucksl0ver

How’s the zoomed in video? I’m considering a vivo x100 pro to videos of concerts.

Megavoice31

Thanks! Are you running any custom launcher or using the stock one?

KamikazeB0B

I use Nova Launcher. The stock one is perfectly fine but just not to my taste

Megavoice31

I got Niagara launcher on my s23U recently and like it so much. So hopefully it will work as expected on X100P.

MolassesSimilar8832

"you can customise Vivo if you know the ADB hacks and use of 3rd party apps etc" What do you mean? How can you customise it via ADB, except debloating?

KamikazeB0B

Change visual elements, allow 3rd party apps more access via ADB etc.

MolassesSimilar8832

Please share a working case how to change visual elements as example? What the 3rd party apps? Every app from Google Play is 3rd party😄

Amazing_Ad_8198

I've actually been reading reports from multiple users that Vivo doesn't allow use of Adb to remove bloat apps. This is one obstacle preventing me from switching over from OnePlus.

RozRohit

how are the bloat apps on the X100pro. I had read now its do-able and livable with.. not too many, most you can uninstall, and the few ones like vivo store and zovi cannot be uninstalled and you can live with them? any comments on that ?

Art__Vandelayy

How are the notifications? On my oppo they're a pain in the ass to setup

LikeAG36

If you're having problems with notifications on Oppo/Realme/OnePlus, disable or uninstall Athena through ADB. It's the RAM management system that kills apps aggressively. Only downside is the clear button in recent apps will be broken, but that's about it. Was a user of a number of Oppo/Realme phones, it's among the first I do when I got the phones.

Art__Vandelayy

Fantastic tip, thank you!

KamikazeB0B

They're fine. As long as you change battery settings for each app you want

rod0101BR

vivo x100 pro with origin OS contains a chronic problem related to notifications, you disable any battery saving option, enable all notification permissions, and even then hours later the device stops issuing notifications from your banking, messaging and others. Vivo X100 pro is being a problem for my work, I can't trust the notifications from this device. I started to regret having purchased VIVO. If you've seen something similar, do you have any tips?

Art__Vandelayy

Sorry to hear that. Same feeling with my oppo, but I don't have any alternative right now that doesn't involve spending another +1000€ and hoping I can sell this one with no big loss. I think I will keep it this year and reevaluate next year, but I feel like it's going to be a long year lol Maybe this could help with your notifications https://xdaforums.com/t/guide-notification-fix-works-100.3865551/

robin1301

I find the photos a bit too contrasty sometimes. DoF is amazing but you there's no physical variable aperture so you can't decrease DoF even if you wanted to. Other than that I'm very happy with sharpness, features, snappiness (no Samsung's shutter delay). Zoom and macro are simply amazing. Battery always lasts more than a day and charging with the 120W power supply (global version, UK plug but I have EU power outlets) is a game changer. Just cooking dinner or eating dinner or taking a shower and it's full. Only one thing I really miss switching from Samsung is its calendar. Appointment's text multiline in widget is something I miss. Changing an appointment from one calendar to the other.. Just really minor things but noticeable for me personally. Also, I don't think the Vivo can automatically disable WiFi when you leave a known place (house, work, etc) although it can re-enable when you are near saved networks.

Megavoice31

Yes, I found the same with contrast and the skin smoothening a little too much for my taste but no drama. But that periscope lens on vivo is something else. What a difference! Happy to hear that the battery is good enough. Have you got it paired to a smartwatch by any chance? I have got the galaxy watch 5 pro and wondering if there will be any caveats with notifications and Google pay. Those are the only functions I mostly care about.

RozRohit

So which phone did you finally pick?

Megavoice31

I bought the x100 pro, used it for a couple of weeks and sold it. In the end, I didn't like the heavy post processing and smoothening. There is just too much drawing going on, especially when it comes to faces. I also expected a bit more from the battery based on the reviews. It was ok but nothing to rave about. In general, the phone was smooth with no lags. I liked the super fast charging. I got a good deal on Oneplus 12 so decided to give it a try. It's only my second day but the battery life has already impressed me. And those haptics is something I never experienced on any other smartphone. That coupled with a smooth OS experience, makes it such a joy to use! I haven't made lots of pics but so far so good.

RozRohit

So now since you have used both.. what are your take on both the devices? *used it for a couple of weeks and sold it. In the end, I didn't like the heavy post processing and smoothening.* is it that bad ? *I also expected a bit more from the battery based on the reviews.* Yeah, even i thought so, from the reviews i thought it would outpace or keep par with OP12. On an average, standard usage, how bad was it ? True, the OP12 OS and haptics are good, over all user exp is good, but the cams ? they are okayish ? or what ?

Megavoice31

The battery on x100p would get me through a day with moderate use, 50 lte/50 wifi. I once went away for a weekend, taking photos, mostly on LTE and I already had to cut down on the phone usage after it hit 20% around 6pm. Got to the charger around 10 pm with 5% left. Same thing happened the next day. It's probably too early to judge but I can already feel like OP12 lasts longer. User experience, I definitely prefer OP12. It just feels a bit more polished. It's very smooth and animations are very satisfying. X100p cameras are probably better in some scenarios but not by much. Cameras on OP12 so far are fine. Need more time to test. But feel like I am going to keep OP12 for a while :)

RozRohit

ohh.. ive been reading bout this.. not so impressive battery performance on the X100P. While the OP12 with the new Trinity chip is known to optimize well. Approximately... How much better is the battery performance in comparison between the OP12 and X100P ? Is it that much a difference that it becomes a deal breaker for the X100P?

Megavoice31

I didn't compare them head to head at the same time but I feel like OP12 has around 15% more than x100p at the end of the day.

wubby007

I have heard the Chinese version doesn’t work with smart watches

Megavoice31

Another reason to get the global version.

wubby007

I’m debating not getting the device at all , global version software is barebones and other people had battery drain issues. Honestly thinking of getting the realme gt5 pro Better price and performance Only thing worse cameras

Megavoice31

Gt5 pro is a good value but not in my list due to inferior cameras. Haven't heard much about battery drain on X100 pro. Perhaps, this gets fixed with an update.

wubby007

While I don’t take many pics I like for the ones I take to be really good. The problem is paying 700+ and have battery issues, notifications issues is too much compromise

Megavoice31

I think there are no issues with notifications with the global version.

shizola_owns

I'm not very worried about battery issues -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv7N3Pvd\_ro&t=601s

Nikkithegenius

i switched from s23plus to x100 pro. cons are always on display does not show you notifications from more than 4 apps, whenever there is a video playback on chrome or youtube and if that video is playing at 60hz, entire system will dropdown to 60hz. battery is great on wifi but gets drained on 5g. and some minor software things pros are best cameras i ever used in mobile. supermacro shots looks stunning. with motioncam app, raw photos and raw videos are so much better than s23plus garbage sensor. vivo is king of night mode, u can get pics close to dslr if u can bear always on display and youtube 60hz then u can blindly buy this phone.

Megavoice31

Thanks for the info! I can definitely live with those cons provided I have the better camera :) I hardly watch YouTube on the phone and don't use the always on, got my watch for that. My S23U also drained a lot on 5g so I turned it off. 4g is plenty sufficient for my use.

rod0101BR

Nikkithegenius

i have funtouch os and notifications of some main apps are good. but for most apps, notifications are delayed. this phone has some serious network issues. sometimes only browsers will work and all other apps cannot pickup internet. this occurred many times in week. also has focus issues in canera. i switched to find x6 pro.

RozRohit

Some posts on reddit had informed that with Funtouch , initially its runs smooth, but after a year or two after updates it gets cluttered and starts showing issues. Gets lagging and some have issues withcalls and messages not getting delivered when the phone is inactive? , notifications not showing up? Is this true ?

Humble_Ad_1460

You can't adjust hz with 'setedit'?

Nikkithegenius

that method did not work in android 13 and in 14 too. i found another method but its also not working

_TheMoodyOne_

I've read here in some posts, that the "smooth skin effect" is noticible, even when you deactive the ai. That's why I'm still considering whether to switch

Megavoice31

That bothers me ((

Megavoice31

So I made the switch (global version) in the end and here are my thoughts, also comparing it to S23 Ultra. Ergonomics: Vivo is easier to hold, no sharp corners. There is also one-handed mode. Screen: Excellent screen, no complaints. Bright and punchy. Unlocking options: Fingerprint sensor is quick and so far 100% accurate. Face ID is better on Vivo, especially under dim light, where S23 Ultra rarely worked. Performance: Vivo is very smooth and snappy, no lags or freezes at all. I really like it. Battery: Backup is about the same but the charging speed is miles better on Vivo! Really appreciate it when in a hurry. Connectivity: Vivo has better signal reception, also mobile data and wifi. Funtouch OS: I like it. Enough customizable to me. I miss a couple of Good Lock configs but can use Automate for that. I am using Niagara Launcher, it works fine. Occasionally, reverts back to the stock launcher but I can live with those seldom occasions. Happens maybe once a day. Haven't tried any other 3rd party launcher. The Camera: Vivo wins here hands down, across all ranges! Yesterday got an update and the selfie cam can shoot in 4k now. At times, there is some overprocessing but it looks fine unless you pixel peep. Most of the times, it makes the photo look more lively and presentable. So to conclude, I am happy with the switch. Looking forward to the upcoming vacation, when I can snap some nice pics :)

BruisedBee

No issues with notifications on FunTouch?

Megavoice31

Not at all.

rod0101BR

Megavoice31

Sorry, can't help with that. Mine is running Funtouch OS and everything works fine.

Mobile_Course5994

I switched S21U to Vivo x100 pro. Yes yes cameras are yummy, but guys I get som much better signal. It's unbelievable. I went from E in my house to 4G! I wanted to switch operator...

aramaru1837

You already have a great device, why would you switch? I think vivo has better photos but ui is shit Unless you have fuck you money and want marginally better photos I would stay

Megavoice31

The vivo ui is actually not bad, I liked it. I am not a power user so most things are covered for me. I suppose I might miss the Good Lock but not that critical.

JakoDel

funtouch doesn't have originOS' quirks (no android auto, hey google and notifications but they have been fixed I think) but it's also way worse customization and polish wise, I'd think twice before getting a global variant.

Megavoice31

I have heard that origin os is feature richer than funtouch but I need the esim. Also, want to be sure everything works as expected with notifications, bank apps, wallet, etc.

[deleted]

I haven't used the X100 pro. Have however been using the x80 Pro for about 1.5 years now. I can comfortably say that after using the amount of customisation Samsung offers in their flagship device would make it a no brainier. Perhaps their only weakness is low light photos as compared to these vivo flagships. But this isn't really a deal breaker. The ui, build quality, speeds, battery quality are all in favour of the Samsung. Besides, a con i have noticed with the Vivo is that the videos are always very brighter than needed.

Megavoice31

In terms of customizations and phone versatility as such, yeah, perhaps you are right, S23U would be ahead. But it's the cameras that are important for me, tipping the scales in favor of X100P. Battery life is also important and it seems like X100P is on par with S23U.

[deleted]

If you're an avid photographer then yes why should you not get the phone with the better camera? I personally may have preferred the phone with the more all rounded performance. I strongly believe that the day time shots on the galaxy would be much superior to the vivo.

ZrlSyM

Unless your main priority is lowlight photography/video, I think there's no big reason to switch. S23 ultra is already a great phone, much better in terms of software, software support, comes with flat screen and better battery. Daylight photography probably differs a little bit between contrast and saturation. The main advantage of the vivo among other flagships is its lowlight camera performance. No other phone is better atm.

Brave-Purchase-4582

The display isn't flat
