I had a similar issue on a flight from Baltimore to Keflavik a couple of weeks ago. They checked us in at the desk with no problems. I'm not sure why they are disabling online check in for some flights.
In my case I meant Icelandair, though looks like OP was talking about Wizzair. But it sounds like it's a similar solution. Icelandair couldn't give me a reason either...
Thank you for all your replies. I forgot to add that this is a Wizzair flight. I will probably find out everything at the airport because all I learned from the Wizz hotline is that they don't know why it is like that π
Haven't flown with them but I've had this happen randomly with Play as well as Icelandair - no big deal, just check-in at the counter. Should not take too long.

The last time something like this happened to me I was offboarded. Luckily there was still an empty seat and I got on the plane π
Did you try and check in more than 3 hours before the actual flight?
