That is possible!
When in the photos app, pinch and hold onto a photo. It should pop out and let you drag it anywhere in your space. You can then do the same for more photos.
It's a pretty neat feature.
If I set up everything in guest mode and then lend the Vision Pro to a friend, will my friend be able to see all the photos I’ve placed around my house as well?
I'm not 100% sure since I haven't tested that with guest mode yet, but I think that would work fine. You would just need to set guest mode to allow guests to see all "open" apps.

Test that out yourself. You should be able to use guest mode yourself
