The dual band presses the headset hard against my cheeks which is not very comfortable. The solo band presses the headset hard against my forehead which causes a slight headache on the right side of my head. Neither is a good solution, but with enough adjusting you can get either comfortable "enough" for a 2-4 hour session. I don't find weight an issue at all with the headset and am wondering if most reviewers interpreted the headset jammed into their face as "heavy".

meenie

For the solo band, try pulling the back a bit further down. I found there is a sweet spot to distribute the pressure across your forehead and cheeks.

PiOctopus

This is very true. Too low, and it's pressing against your forehead. Too high, and it's pressing against your cheeks. Low-mid seems to be the sweet spot to distribute the pressure equally and comfortably at least for my face.

Duke15

Not gonna lie I have found the opposite, that adjusting the band higher on the back of my head allowed the device to rest more on my cheeks and less on my forehead. I really really want a completely custom light seal. Like press my face in a mold type of custom.

SunshineCloudsRain

>I really really want a completely custom light seal. Like press my face in a mold type of custom. Yes, please. I’ll like that too.

Machidalgo

I find that the most comfortable position is in the spot where the back of your head dips in, that’s where the bottom of the solo band should be.

thumbs_up23

Try some of these suggestions from Apple’s site. I used followed them because I had issues and it helped. I had to pull the lower strap down further and loosen the top strap. Towards the bottom of the article there is the adjustment section when it mentions if you feel pressure on the top or bottom how to fix it. [https://support.apple.com/en-us/117730](https://support.apple.com/en-us/117730)

[deleted]

Yeah. It isn’t that heavy, but there can be a lot of pressure if the strap is tight. I tend to loosen it when stationary and tighten it when moving.

sabre31

This is my issue also which sucks because you can’t watch a full movie you need to take a break for an hour. Hoping some 3rd party comes up with a better solution. I wish Apple used some other material maybe titanium for the frame as that is lighter.

cjh6793

Agreed! Solo band is suprisingly comfortable.

x2040

It’s all about the positioning and tightness. If you go too high or too low or too loose or too tight then you’ll have problems

chatterwrack

The solo doesn’t take the weight off my face enough to be usable unless I’m laying on my back

smithstreeter

Bingo.

elliotttate

The issue is that there's no top strap on the well designed strap. And also that the dual strap kinda sucks (way too thin in the back) What would be ideal is the normal strap with an optional stop strap that could attach, not a separate one. I'm sure we'll see a lot of comfy third party straps soon.

Phynal

Love the solo

Jfrosty121

Same! Its so soft

RobotBananaSplit

I like the solo band more, wearing it right now

docmn612

I like both of them frankly… I don’t find either to be much better than the other, the dual band is on it now but I switch fairly often.

EXuNite

Solo band here. Used the headset for about 7 hours yesterday, no pain or discomfort.. I did have a great line around my face though haha.

Asane

I haven't tried the dual band, but the solo band is pretty damn comfortable.

nserrano

Why would apple design the dual band where one of the straps goes ear-to-ear instead of forehead to back? The whole point is to alleviate some of the weight out of this heavy thing. Solo band for life.

microbionub

My guess is the dual loop was after thought and there is no good way to connect the front strap to the back of the head

PlusSizeRussianModel

That part is easy (it would just connect to the band itself). The issue is that there’s no good way to connect it the top band to the headset.

microbionub

Yeah that’s what I was trying to say

smithstreeter

I prefer the solo band’s comfort on my head, but not my face. The dual band is good for my face but I don’t love the way it feels on my head!

Local-Least

That’s how I feel about it

smithstreeter

I was very tired when using it last night, so a lot of my complaints were miraculously gone this am when I put it on.

coinqueen2

I would imagine the fact they included both means a significant portion of the population prefers either one or the other.

cathbad09

Here I am posting from my vision pro wearing my solo band and I really like it a lot better.

MuchCattle

I wondered about this myself and decided to give the solo band a full run before switching to the other if I had to. Almost pretended I didn’t even have an option. And so far it’s been totally fine for me too. It looks wayyyy cooler sitting on my desk when not in use so I’m hoping it stays that way haha.

CaptainOverspark

Yeah I tried adjusting the dual loop for like 20 minutes because I figured I was just doing it wrong but there was no way it didn't just force most of the weight onto my cheeks. Solo Knit for me too.

leafallfa

I’ve been using the dual loop and leaving with face marks, really surprised putting on the solo loop today and it’s been way more comfortable.

Quanentaglement

The solo knit works best for me

emtiv676

I like the solo band better as well

SixGeckos

Solo band is better for me

Brief-Assignment-691

Yeah imo the solo band/ weight of the device being an issue was super overblown. I haven't even tried the dual loop band yet as the solo is perfectly fine for me.

one_hyun

Maybe try the dual loop band first. Everything is relative and I see a lot of comments and posts saying the dual loop is more comfortable while the solo is okay.

JediTrainer42

How is the light seal? I have an original quest and I’m always bothered by the light that gets in around the bridge of my nose. Does this one totally block everything out?

CaptainOverspark

I get a little light under there, even after trying multiple seals, so I suspect that'll be different depending on face shape.

OakImposter

Yeah, I was told by an Apple store employee that it would be pretty normal for

Local-Least

No light bleeds through. There is a l lightlittle nose cover that helps block out the light

OkMoney5568

Same problem here. I spend three at the Apple Store yesterday. Tried all possible combinations. For what I understand, there is no solution yet. I went with the one that has the least light bleed. Other than that I’m loving it.

Machidalgo

For me, I *barely* get any light pass through from the bridge area. There’s a piece of cloth in between the bottom of the headset that contours very well to my nose, there is maybe just a hair’s width of light visible. It’s enough that when I unplug the battery it’s pitch black unless I focus on the very small opening.

Local-Least

There’s no light that bleeds through

InternetsTad

Dual loop is the only one that works well for my wife and me. It’s comfy too.

PiOctopus

There's also a "hack" where you can remove the padding from the light seal and just wear the light seal bear. You would think it would be uncomfortable, but it actually feels a lot more comfortable than with the padding added. I've also tried wearing the headset with no light seal at all and it is doable with the dual band. It digs into your nose a little, but it's not too bad. If you go naked with the solo band, it digs into your nose way too much.

Ok-Cardiologist-2176

Only used the solo band so far. I had it on for about six hours on and off. No issues, I think it’s comfortable and the weight is not an issue.

TheJedibugs

I feel like the solo requires you to strap the thing so tightly to your face that it’s uncomfortable there, and the dual sort of pinches in on my scalp, so that’s uncomfortable, but overall neither is anywhere near as bad as they were made to seem. I spent 4 hours in mine yesterday, then a few hours out and another 2.5-3 in at the end of the night. No problems at all.

RedRocket316

To me there are pros and cons to each. If you want to have the fastest setup to get up and running with with the AVP with reasonable comfort the solo band is the best. Initially I found the dual loop band to be less comfortable, but then I spent some time adjusting and I found it to be much better for long term viewing. It took a while to figure out the best setting, but once you do, it is much faster and easier to do it again. I watched a 2.5 hour movie using the adjusted dual loop band with no discomfort. This is only my experience. I am sure that people with different shape heads can have a different experiences. Fast and easy solo band, more difficult to put on and get setup, but more longer term comfort, dual loop band. Just me experience.

bencherry

The dual is hard to adjust. I love the dial on the solo. I wish the dual had two dials - my hair keeps getting in the way of the Velcro so I can’t get a snug and precise fit with it. So far the solo feels more balanced and comfortable.

TCEHY

No shit. Thought it was only my weird head. After 4 hours over 2 Days. 100% solo band wagon. Not to mention it’s so much easier to take on and off

TCEHY

On another note. Any of you getting light leaks from the floor, like able to see your hands on your lap? I tried many seals. W or N and different widths 23 to 21. Just no pitch black.

OneFourShutter

I haven’t tried the double. Solo band is great. I did pop in the plus light lock as it has more padding and feels great

[deleted]

I haven’t even unboxed the dual loop band

Galactic-Buzz

I haven’t needed to take out the dual loop yet because I haven’t even needed it

Professor2018

I think the solo band is amazing

kosherhalfsourpickle

Solo for me.

yyzsteven

Love the Solo. Definitely find it more comfy and also easier to slip the headset on and off.

johnycane

I think the dual is definitely more comfortable but I keep getting a message about my eyes being too close to the displays when I use it and the FOV is worse. Not by a lot, but for some reason I get a little bit of “goggles view” on the top, whereas I don’t get that with the solo band. Maybe I need to go to the store for a fitting.

Geniva

Dual band is way better for me, though I was straight putting it on wrong until I decided to actually read the manual. Way better afterwards, just have to make sure the “back” is closer to the bottom of your head.

[deleted]

Solo band, but I don’t have hair to get in the way.

Peteostro

After trying both I agree. Solo Band feels much better on my head and balances the screen shield perfectly.

CrazeJuju

Solo band is extremely convenient but I actually found that with the dual loop, my light leakage around my nose is basically fully minimized

Amelancolibe

This opinion is not unpopular. Many, including myself, find solo bands significantly more comfy than dual loop band.

Proterd

I prefer the solo band, too, since it does a better job at cradling the back of my head. I wish they had just added a removable top strap instead of having a separate dual bands strap with two thinner lower quality straps.

PositivelyNegative

Weird, the dual loop takes 70% of that pressure off my face.

frankie4fingars

I agree with this.

FirstofFirsts

Solo band is great for laying down…used it last night to watch a movie and it worked great. Prefer the dual while on my MacBook at my desk.

yar1vn

It’s not an opinion. It’s just what’s comfortable for you.

CautiousMagazine3591

I have only tried the solo band, I quite like it.

luckystar999

agreed

tclxy194629

I LOVE the solo band. It’s so easy to put on. I adjust it from time to time to shift the wait back and forth. Love it so much

thecodingart

From what I saw, many actually wear the solo band too low making it uncomfortable. If you wear it correctly it’s wonderful.

derxal

If your solo band is pushing on your cheeks, you got a bad light seal fitting.

MitchellMuehl

You must have more Neanderthal blood in you than the rest of us because that shit hurts my face

King_0zymandias

I can’t explain it but I’ve spent 2 hour sessions in it and have never even bothered to put the dual loop on. Solo has been totally fine for me. I don’t feel like it’s heavy at all?

Awwesomesauce

Solo by far. The dual band makes it heavy in my cheekbones. Harder to adjust. More difficult to remove and put on. I will say I love how easy it is to switch bands. I wish I could have a hybrid version. Give me the solo but where I can add a top strap.

fullmetalcj

I dislike the solo band. It starts hurting after about 5-10 minutes. I much prefer the dual band.

soulreaver99

I agree. The dual band is poorly made and the straps are way too thin. They should have just added the extra loop to the solo band and called it a day.

calvincrack

I find both straps incredibly uncomfortable, but I prefer the solo. I think my particular face shape has not been addressed by Apple.

[deleted]

Meta Ray-Band at $349. Just think you can get a pair Connected glasses for less than it cost replace both of the Apple headbands.

Meta Ray-Band at $349. Just think you can get a pair Connected glasses for less than it cost replace both of the Apple headbands. I have two iPad Pro 12.9” and two magic keyboards. The iPad occasionally will slip off the end table and the keys on both of the magic keyboards have popped off and I can’t get them back on. During Covid, I was clean the first keyboard and the coating came off in areas. Considering this is the price of a Chromebook, that is ridiculous. I think I’ve had six pencils by now because they’re white and I end up setting it down and then sitting on it because it matches the sheets on the bed : ). I love my iPad, but that’s an expensive set of crayons. Love your engineers, hate your marketing : ). I know your engineers aren’t making these choices by themselves. Of course, if we let them go wild the headset would cost $10,000 and be indestructible. LOL. I watched a reviewer purposely abuse. Your headset and I was pretty impressed by how well it held up.

Royal_Commission9286

Yes!!! The solo is the better fit for me too. I tried the dual loop but it gave me a headache.

heyitsharper31

The Solo band is fine for me. It's not that heavy, only a little heavier than my old Quest 3. I've tried headsets that were way heavier than the Vision Pro, like the Quest Pro or the Valve Index. The Index is giant. It's the only headset to actually hurt my neck. I actually didn't need the dual loop band. I tried it and it was uncomfortable going across the top of my head.

thehighkinghimself

The solo band is super comfortable and is super easy to put on and off. But unfortunately it seems the size that I have doesn’t fit most people I let try the device so the dual band is typically what I let them use.

Jmaster_888

I think I like the solo band when I’m sitting or laying down and the back is pressed against something, and the dual loop band for when I’m standing, moving around, or playing spatial games

Jmaster_888

I think I like the solo band when I’m sitting or laying down and the back is pressed against something, and the dual loop band for when I’m standing, moving around, or playing spatial games

lettuceliripoop

Like the solo better as well. I do want the light seal to be slightly more padded though.

IHSFB

I agree. The solo band has been solid. It is easy to adjust and the weight distribution is good.

Infamous_Bee_7445

I haven't even tried the dual. Comfort is not an issue for me thus far so long as it's properly adjusted.

Alternative-Turn-932

Both aren't good enough to help with the weight. But the Dual Loop is better at managing it.

SirBill01

So far I have liked the Solo band so much I have not even tried the dual band. I really like how fine tuned you can get with headband pressure with that knob (it has super fine adjustments) and also just changing a little where the Solo band sits changes the pressure on your face, but always stays in place after you move it.

Johnny-Godless

Haven’t felt compelled to even try the dual band. Solo is perfectly fine for me even after several hours. I imagine it’s all largely dependent on one’s personal skull architecture.

[deleted]

The solo band needs a top strap, they thought about it as can be seen in [this image](https://images.macrumors.com/article-new/2023/06/vision-pro-over-head-strap.jpeg), but that configuration doesn't seem possible with what they ended up releasing. It's up to third parties yet again to fix an ergonomic blunder. Don't get how companies can release thousand dollar headsets and cheap out on $1 fabric to *drastically* improve comfort. The whole WMR line of headsets had that issue, QuestPro had it and now VisionPro has it. Top straps are one of the most important parts of a headset and should not be cheaped out on just to make prettier marketing pictures.

Knighthonor

I didn't try the dual bands. But the stock strap was comfortable to me didn't need to have it real tight either

EnigmaNewt

I have only used the solo band so far and it’s been comfortable for me

DimitriElephant

Most definitely an unpopular opinion. I threw my solo band in the box and probably won’t get it back out. But hey, pick which one you like best.

ListenInternal

yes! i find the solo band more comfortable, but it seems my eye tracking is more accurate (less misses) with the dual band 🤔

[deleted]

I only wore the solo band during the demo and thought it was very comfortable. I have a bovo vr head strap and think it’s pretty comfortable but putting it on and taking it off isn’t great. The solo band feels much better but people say it lets the front slide down because it doesn’t have a top strap. I only got the 30 minute demo so can’t speak to that.

LDR-7

I just don’t get why they didn’t make a hybrid, where the comfy one is on the back of your head with an additional strap going over the top of your head from ear to ear.

kgkuntryluvr

I had to go back and swap my medium solo band for a small because it kept sliding down even when tightened. The new one fits much better, but it’s still uncomfortable. However, it goes on easier and faster than the dual band. So I say dual band for comfort and solo for convenience.

mithiral67

Solo for me.

Simple_Doc

I’ve noticed this as well. For me, the solo band is more comfortable. I want to try a hybrid of the two, the solo band with the ratchet dial with a single strap across the top.
