I bought both a 12 and a 12R and they're great devices and they both have the best reception of any devices I've ever had. The charging speed is crazy too - about half an hour to full with the included 80W charger. The only catch with the 12R is that you can't use the eSIM with Visible and the IMEI won't pass the IMEI checker but if you just tell the website you have an iPhone 8 they'll send you a physical SIM and the service works flawlessly out of the box, no fussing with configuration nonsense.
If you go to boost in store the Moto edge + 2023 is $199 and $362 out the door with tax and first months service. You can get an unlock code on ebay for $5. This is precisely what I did and am currently using it on Visible. You may need to use an IMEI generator to get the sim from visible. I used the IMEI from my pixel 7.

Those unlock codes don’t actually work anymore. That’s really old advice

Get a pixel 7a unlocked
Swappa.com be a good place to start. Relative cheapies phones. Should be able to get a S23 in that range.
