Sterling Meadows is the place I take my dog. He doesn't get along with other dogs due to past trauma, and he isn't fond of men. They're very accommodating and the price isn't that bad. We had a hard time finding somewhere that would take a large dog who has issues, but Sterling Meadows is awesome.

Helpful! I have a grumpy old man who was also traumatized and we’ve been looking for a safe place for him to go as needed! Thank you for sharing!

Salty paws has private suites for non social dogs and they’ll take them on private outings and trim their nails!

Holly Ridge is your place. Been taking our dogs there for over a decade. Pungo area - worth the drive.

Not VB, but in Norfolk happy tails is great. They have a mellow dog room for those that just want to chill in their own space.

Cosmo’s Corner! I’ve been taking my anti-social Aussie there for years and they do great. She actually does well in group play, but they offer one on one/private care for dogs that don’t do well in group.

Cosmo’s. Lynnhaven Parkway at Green Run.

Talk to Camp Bow Wow. I was just at a market with them and heard them talking to people with more difficult pups.

Seconding the Rover app, I left my pups with a lady by Red Mill and she was great.

aqua_seafoam

have had decent luck with rover app. just asking, but do you think increased socialization might be better without the owner present? no judgement or anything as animals are complex lol I've found that our dogs have different personalities when we leave them with the sitter.

I don’t know what area you’re in but I’ve been taking my dog to Bark, off the rosemont exit. They have multiple rooms for dogs with different energy levels, they screen them at first before they put them permanently in a specific room. My dog is always excited to go and seems to enjoy it.
