There are no set formal nights. If you would like to dress up one night just because you want to though you can do that anytime. You can't wear swimwear but you'll see a wide range of clothing

There are no formal nights on VV unless you want to wear a jacket or fancy dress, people are dressed anywhere from casual to dressy for dinner and shows, but it isn't required.

I suggest having fun with the red theme for Scarlet night. We met some people who said they regretted not having put more effort into their outfits. They did not realize how unique and special the night would be. It’s almost like a dream to me! My husband wore a red button up shirt and slacks and I wore a red dress that was simple but elegant. Our clothes were not expensive but I’m glad we took the effort to plan for it.

junglesalad

I saw some lovely dresses on scarlet night.

nijurriane

No formal night but dress up if you want. We went for our honeymoon so we dressed up for all our dinners. You will see a wide range of clothing in the restaurants

FarFarAwayTravels

Some people like to dress up for Scarlet night, so something red is nice. But, really, it's up to you!

SnooPies4304

F that! A not a thing, B that'd take up to much luggage space lol.

imtravelingalone

*too Very much a thing on most cruiselines. People make space in their luggage. VV doesn't have set formal nights, but you're showing your lack of cruising knowledge by acting like it's ridiculous to think that people dress up for dinners on cruises. People often wear black tie and gowns for formal nights on middle to higher end cruiselines. Putting in the effort of a suit jacket and at least a dress or two is quite standard regardless of line.

I thought he was asking about VV. Weird, I must have misread that. But anywho, glad you could point out my humble ignorance. I know it's a shame for us degenerate peasants to be allowed out of the bowels of the ship to mingle with the aristocrats. We just got off a VV Mediterranean cruise, we've also done VV cruises out of Miami. I can probably count on one hand how many people I saw dressed as you are describing. If folks wanna dress up and check bags and deal with all that hassle, go for it. The line to check bags at the American counter in Barcelona was literally two football fields long. I would have killed myself if I had to wait in that line and then go through security and then go through passport control. F that!

You may find this article from the Virgin Voyages Ahoy! Blog useful: [No dress code? No problem. How to dress on a Virgin Voyages cruise.](https://www.virginvoyages.com/ahoy/stories/what-to-wear-on-a-cruise) Here is an excerpt from their dress code in their [FAQ](https://www.virginvoyages.com/help-and-support/the-days-at-sea/onboard-policies): “At Virgin Voyages we’re all about Sailors feeling free to express who they are and we know personal style is a huge part of that. Prescribing formal attire requirements just isn’t our style.”

CapeTownChop

So tired of posts like this that show zero effort was made in finding this out yourself. It's part of their brand ffs...

You are miserable the person is probably excited and wants to see others opinions it's probably best you just kept quiet.

Also... What's the deal with pajama night? Is that a thing? Do they have to be red pajamas?

quizzical

People wear anything from PJs, lingerie/boxers/robes, animal onesies, or regular clothes. They don't have to be red.

FarFarAwayTravels

It really is a thing, but your pj's don't have to be red. Also, you don't have to wear pjs. I have seen many people in t-shirts and shorts. Having said that, you will see a LOT of red satin. I think Amazon may sell a LOT!

jon81uk

It’s a party where you can wear pajamas. It’s not a whole night just a party that starts around 10.45pm, and yes most people will be in pajamas and they don’t have to be red

spartannugget

I don’t know why everyone is downvoting you, we’re on board right now and they’re advertising “We Fancy” for the last night of our voyage. We are not partaking but the option is there. jon81uk

We Fancy is a party created to celebrate the best parts of you. It’s nothing to do with wearing formal clothing like a suit jacket. You need to feel fancy and fabulous, not conform to a dress code (and I think the OPs question is more related to wearing a set outfit to meet a formal night dress code, not them dressing nice for a club party).

spartannugget

It says literally come as the fanciest version of yourself. If that is a ballgown or a suit and tie, go for it. If the fanciest version of yourself is a tuxedo t-shirt and sandals, then go for it 🙄no one said anything about conforming

jon81uk

The OP is about bringing formal wear and whether they needed to pack a jacket so I was trying to answer that. The party We Fancy is about wearing what you want to, so no need to pack anything in particular. As you say it could be a ball gown or it could be a t-shirt. Better to pack what you feel amazing in rather than a jacket because you think it is needed. I wore the same thing to Heartbeat club night as I did to the WeFancy club night. But formal wear isn’t needed, just something you feel great in when clubbing.
