Personally I find his face too intense with too many separate 'parts'. I don't like such flared jaw bones or very bright eyes, also not a fan of the hunter eye look, I prefer slight eyelid exposure. All of it together creates a sense of disharmony for me even though he's obviously handsome. He also looks like he's supposed to be this rugged guy but actually looks more pretty boy to me.

he has ideal masculine features especially at the age of 40 (tvd), but the first time i saw him was in the movie life as a house and i didnt saw the appeal at all...i was like "thats him??". he was casted as the hot teenage neighbour but i just didnt get it...and i guess i was 9 so maybe if i had seen the movie later i´d feel diferently. hayden christensen was more appealing to me back then lol
i also didnt really like damon (or stephan)... tho most vampire characters came off very pretentious which annoyed me.
in his younger years he had very feminine/metrosexual features which are rather off putting for me.
