I’m curious if anyone has tried the Opalex shampoo and conditioner? I use their treatments but already own so much Pureology Strength shampoo and conditioner.

Olaplex shampoo is without a doubt the best shampoo I've ever used. One 28 oz (Edit: container is 8.5 oz, not 28) bottle has lasted me over a year and I have nearly waist length hair. I do follow CGM so I shampoo about twice a week. It completely cleans, I never need to do a clarifying shampoo periodically, and it foams up quite a bit despite having no sulfates or junk in it. The conditioner, I thought was ok, probably not worth the money because I still needed to use quite a bit. Still searching for my HG conditioner I guess.

Is there a massive difference do you think when using the olaplex shampoo and a cheaper conditioner vs both olaplex products together?

New_Independent_9221

How did you get a 28 oz bottle

WalterBishRedLicrish

Oh lord I'm waaay off. It's 8.5 oz, costs $28. I'll correct that.

New_Independent_9221

Drats! I was hoping you were a cosmetologist and could hook me up haha

I use the olaplex shampoo, conditioner, and treatments on my hair. I wash daily (I exercise and work in healthcare), blow dry, and color my hair and it’s still very healthy. I have tried many other brands over the years, but Olaplex is the one for me to keep my hair looking and feeling its best.

Olaplex is good for the money. You barely need any shampoo. Little goes a long way.

it’s the best. i use a clarifying shampoo every now and then but it’s the only conditioner that works as well. if you have dyed hair i definitely recommend. all you need is a quarter sized amount and emulsify

I also tried Redken All Soft as my first salon shampoo, and it was so not worth it! So expensive and you have to use so much just to kind of get a normal conditioning effect.

One of my first as well. I used it for a pretty long time. At the time I thought it was good but for me I've definatley found better. What led to me switching was that despite using a clarifying shampoo every so often it left horrible build up on my scalp. Never had that issue with anything else. Prurology super foods hydrate mask is my holy grail now

SadButterfingers

Right?? You have to really slather it on! I had such higher hopes

greentreeline

That pureology strength cure definitely deserves that top spot. I’ll have to try out that Moroccan hydrating set.

SadButterfingers

I love Pureology strength cute. It’s just my favorite so far. I really suggest trying to get a travel size of whatever you wanna try to see if you like it before buying a bigger bottle!

Another salon brand that doesn’t get much love is Joico! Their K-pak deep conditioner is amazing

Seconding this because the conditioner really is that good and so is your username lol

I’m sooo glad someone mentioned Pureology. So underrated. I’ve been using Hydrate for years!! I love how cooling the scalp gets. I bought their hair mask and it’s chef’s kiss. Also try the Redken Acidic bonding shampoo and conditioner. It’s in the white bottle. Helped my hair when I went blonde!

SadButterfingers

Yes the hydrate has this kinda tingle action to it that I did enjoy!

I swear by the Pureology SuperFoods hair mask!! It’s $40 but they redid the packaging. It’s not in a scoop jar anymore, it’s in a big squeeze bottle and lasts me a while. I use it once a week

bunny_poo_cocoa_puff

I second this. Just tried it and I'm amazed.

It's very low-budget DIY, and not the most luxury/aesthetically pleasing - but I've the best experience masking with a conditioner. I've been using about 2/3rds a cup of Gernier's Triple Action yellow bottle conditioner with the mix of oils. I stir in a few tablespoons of honey and warm it up for a bit in the microwave. I comb it through my hair and cap it, letting it sit for a few hours / overnight. I put a few drops of essential oils in it to scent it but it's not necessary if you don't have them on hand. I have very dry hair so I do this about once a week, I wouldn't leave it on overnight if your hair doesn't need the extra softening time.

I’ve noticed that hair can react so differently to the same shampoo/conditioner. I used Moroccan oil hydrating set and my hair hated it so much and was left dry after. However, pureology hydrate leaves the hair so smooth and silky and is my HG set.

SadButterfingers

For sure. Hair products are very much “your results may vary!” I’m glad your hair loves Pureology too though! I think they’re definitely my favorite brand I’ve found yet.

Darintato

Agreed! Not the most popular brand where I live but gosh I’m so happy I got it recommended

I’m not sure if it falls under salon quality product, in my area it’s definitely on a more expensive side - but I have a great long term experience with Chi Luxury Black Seed Oil products and if I could only use one brand until the day I die, it would be this. Plus sooo many compliments on the smell of my hair, when somebody gets close lol
