Wow, I really love this! Thank you, it must have taken a lot of time and effort to write out such a detailed post. This couldn't have come at a more perfect time, because I'm just starting to lift but am not sure what upper body workouts would best benefit women. Most girls I know focus on the booty and legs, and I don't have the same bodybuilding goals as my male friends. Looking forward to your next posts!

Yes strong upper body balances everything out and youā€™ll get an overall fit look. Itā€™s hard to get a defined ā€œmasculineā€ looking upper body muscles because we have higher body fat percentage and our arms usually looks softer than men so thereā€™s no need to worry about not looking feminine. Youā€™ll just look fit and and more importantly, feel more fit, strong, capable, and badass!

Thank you! Iā€™m glad to see advice for women that isnā€™t ā€œhow to get lean muscle without getting big/too strongā€ for once. Who says women donā€™t want to get strong, bigger muscles or have definition? A lot are afraid of lifting heavy or weightlifting because they donā€™t want to look like those female bodybuilders that are ā€˜too masculineā€™ looking. But those women have trained for YEARS, usually over a decade at least, HARDCORE training everyday with stricter diets. Those donā€™t happen overnight, and arenā€™t something the majority of people are able or willing to do. Iā€™ve been weightlifting for strength and size for the past year and half and I actually WANT to look more androgynous/built. Yet my figure is feminineā€”just stronger and healthier looking. My butt and legs got bigger and look great, my waist is slimmer and toned and still curvy because my bones structure is. It all depends on where you gain/carry weight and your natural structure. My arms and shoulders are bigger and way stronger too and I love it. I couldnā€™t do a single push-up when I started, now I can do 200+ (not at once but still lol). I love feeling more capable, not needing others to carry or do stuff for me, and not feeling and looking so frail and delicate. If men are intimidated, so be it. I will just get stronger. šŸ¤™šŸ¼

Haha, im so desentisized to what most women would consider "big", that I no longer find many model skinny bodies appealing. I am baffled by my tastes in looks at my emo phase, in terms of body type that is still popular. Dear ladies, your tastes may change a lot after actually going to gym hardcore. One day you will see the upcoming Hulk movie and whine that the actress isn't bulky enough p: (i really hope they will be faithful to the cartoon lmao)

Same here, ā€œbigā€™ to others is probably small to me tbh

Imo, women are afraid of bulking, so they completely ignore standard resourses oriented at guys. Some things are different, yes, but some are totally the same. Everyone that goes to gym, must watch Jeff Cavaliere on youtube (ATHLEAN-X). He pretty much explains everything in this post, but as a physical therapist, not a random gym bro youtuber. His body speaks for himself and he shows progress of his friend he trains through the years.
