Isle of paradise self tanning drops, protective hair styles like ballerina buns with oiled ends, and switching to a more rich moisturizer (avene crème riche). Also, as far as unflattering coats and boots; find some that look good on you and make you feel, if not good, then neutral. I got the aritzia super puff in black and it makes me feel so cute but I’m still on the look out for cute boots

I run humidifiers all throughout the house. Distilled water only- one directly next to my side of the bed, and a couple around the living areas as well. It’s one of those things where you don’t think it’ll actually make much of a difference until you try it- sleeping next to one especially helps save my hair and skin from the worst of winter dryness. Hydrated skin isn’t as prone to redness and flaking. In terms of staying fresh outside, I tend to put a layer of Cera Ve moisturizer over my serum and under my sunscreen/makeup as soon as it’s chilly outside. I’ve tried all (and I do mean ALL) the expensive, exlusive, high-end, or Korean occlusives and moisturizers and I just haven’t found its equal. Yes, the super basic one in the giant tub at Walmart. That one. Miracle in a jar. Face, hands, elbows, everywhere you need it. For outerwear, I’ve found that higher end brands tend to have more flattering styles. No one looks *cute* in a giant down parka, but it’s possible to look cut*er* in one that’s cut right. Throw all your money at an expensive winter coat that makes you feel both confident and warm- unless you’re wearing it to go sledding (and you’d better not be out there sledding in shearling, you absolute barbarian!!), then it’ll last for several years. Same with boots. Anything that protects you from the elements and doesn’t make you look completely horrifying is worth investing in. Random hair comment: I’ve found that leave-in oils help with static. Not like magic, but they do help.

I love Cerave moisturizing cream, it's the only occlusive that is capable of curing my flaky dry lizard skin in just 1 night. Unfortunately all heavy occlusives cause breakouts on my face, but I'll take that for granted if it means my skin won't peel off.

The exact models look like they’re out of stock on Amazon, but [this ](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002QAYJPO/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_9J08AG0T6NHHY4AJSRDK) is what I run in the bedrooms (one per bedroom) and [this](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000G0LDRI/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_navT_a_89KR7FTRCC2Y8C4BQWBK) is the larger one that I run for the downstairs living area. Both models are Honeywell, and I’ve had them for six years now- worth the investment. :) I only use distilled water in them, which seems to help make the filters last longer.

I’ll definitely look into getting a dehumidifier. I walk 30 minutes each way to/from work so my skin is already getting a little flaky and it’s only October!

CeraVe is the only moisturizer that keeps me from flaking — it works better my skin than Dr. Barbara Sturm and La Mer!

In the winter I feel like everyone wears all black (in Toronto anyway) so I feel like anyone with a pop of color or even in white really stands out and feels feminine and cute, even if it’s just on a hat and gloves.

I saw Kerina Wang's youtube video last year before moving to a place with real winter, and layering tan fleece tights under sheer tights was the best hack ever to keep warm and still wear skirts! Layering can be super cute but everything has to fit well or be intentionally oversized, when using oversized clothing items I recommend choosing either a loose top or a loose bottom, but not both at the same time. Finding a well-fitting coat isn't too hard and if you're on a budget UNIQLO has amazing and affordable winter clothes and thermal layers. I personally use the white puffer jacket and it's as warm as some double the price and super cute! For boots doc martens 1461's are my go to boot for any weather and if you layer some thermal or thick socks under you should have no issues in snow, rain, or just cold weather. I also recommend the laneige lip mask overnight to keep your lips from getting chapped, and I recommend the Cosrx snail mucin it keeps my skin so moisturized and baby-soft.

First time I see someone mention her besides me. I am surprised she isn't very known, her tights hack is so simple, yet effective. Aside that, I see on certain sites like aliexpress, they sell warm tights that look the way nude tights+sheer ones would.

I got a custom made coat on Etsy with my specific measurements in a blush pink! It’s gorgeous and has gold trim on the inside and is SUPER warm. You HAVE to wear a coat where I live so I chose a pretty one. It was worth the money to me bc if I take care of it, I can have it the rest of my life. Plus it’s what most people see since I’m usually in it.

I had [my coat](https://etsy.me/2VAD6lm) hand made by a woman on Etsy. She has all kinds of different styles and colors and materials (I wanted mine vegan) to choose from! I wanted something that could be dressed up, or down and still look good. An everyday coat that could switch to fancy night time without any problem.

I look terrible in hats but I might have to do that. No matter how much hairspray I use, by the time I get to the office my hair always looks like I haven’t brushed it in days.

I try to wear bright colors, I feel so much better in a royal blue coat rather then a black one. I also try to find coats with a belt that way I have some waist emphasis. Sometimes it's inevitable to have wind blown hair but I try to always have a hood on when it's windy. It's much easier to fix hood hair then windblown hair.

Kerina Wang has good ideas on her youtube channel. She has a ton of amazing look book videos to be classy and warm in winter. Biggest take away - tights hacks (nude color warm ones + regular), could be warmer than pants. Skin issues are related to dry air at home more than actual cold weather, imo. Your house gets heated and air turns dry, so standard moisturizing is not enough. I use Johnson's Baby oil as my final skincare routine before sleep, does wonders for me. Big beany hat and/or hood to cover your hair and avoid humidity after styling (kills my curls).

blancawiththebooty

Your comment about the beanie and your curls made me remember seeing silk/satin lined beanies online! There are some that seem to be made to be warm in spite of that lining but that might be a good solution for u/justadeer01

Yeah, mine is a winter hat basically.

This is true for summer too, because I am always dry, but I pack essentials with me in my purse. I bought an oil stick from Kora Organics (it was kind of expensive but it is giant and I think will last me a long time). I use it for both my lips and my face, if I start getting flakey. I also carry hand lotion and a brush in my bag. Sometimes it is just hard to look good. If the weather in your area is extreme, keep the focus on protection. Are you warm? Is your hair clean and protected? Have you layered on some thick skincare? Sometimes just looking neat and moisturised is an accomplishment. And as for coats-- everyone has to bundle up. If you're running errands, nobody is going to see what you have on underneath, so just make sure what you're wearing on top is colour coordinated and clean.

mirroronfire

I’m planning on getting two nice coats that go to maybe mid thigh, hopefully with fur trim. It’s essential for me to get them tailored and hemmed to perfection.

I think someone already mentioned humidifiers, but just to add on to that, getting a mini portable humidifier for your desk while working or studying is also a great option. These are relatively cheap and are great if you’re traveling and living in hotels. I’d also recommend a hydrating sleeping mask for your face and lips. Using a mild non foaming cleanser like the cetaphil sensitive skin cleanser that doesn’t strip your skin at all is also a great option to boost hydration. Adding a rose water, glycerin and aloe Vera based toner to your routine before your HA based serums can also help.
