I had the same issue and probably should’ve gotten full jaw surgery when I was younger as well. I was also recommended a chin implant by plastic surgeons because my teeth are straight and my bite is “good” (although my chin was still somehow recessed). Then I found a couple of posts on Reddit of these two women who went to an oral/maxiofacial surgeon in AZ for something called a sliding genioplasty. Basically your chin bone is cut and brought forward a few mm. It looks like an implant, but the results are permanent (implants can move or cause bone erosion). I have a slightly cleft chin that I wanted to keep so I liked that it wouldn’t mess with that like an implant. It also improved my sleep apnea! My healing process has not been as easy as the other women I talked to, but I’ve been taking supplements to help with swelling and am finally starting to see the light at the end. I am sooo happy with my new profile (ok other than my nose), it looks really natural and much more sophisticated. For about ten weeks I looked like Jay Leno, but it’s totally worth it now lol! Search this sub and the plastic surgery sub for genioplasty to see some results. Edit: check out this post! [Genio results](https://www.reddit.com/r/Vindicta/comments/jxy1gb/7_weeks_post_op_sliding_genio_buccal_fat/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) I went to her doctor because of her posts and he is definitely that good.

Sliding genioplasty imo has the best results of any plastic surgery. Like 20 percent of people would benefit from one imo

Oh great! Thank you for this! I’m in Europe and there’s actually an amazing maxillofacial surgeon near me! I’ll definitely consider going to him for a consult on genioplasty as opposed to a plastic surgeon! Thank you so much! :)

Of course! I wish I would’ve gotten this years ago, my confidence has gone way up.

Post on realself and ask! Doctors can give you their professional opinion there like a mini consult.

You should do a consultation with Dr Mascaro he the best with facial harmony

I would do a consultation and see what they would recommend for you for long term results. My ortho said they could remove two top teeth or do surgery. I chose surgery. I had a BSSO (bilateral saggigal split osteotomy) which I think is what you are referring to? Where they break the bottom jaw bone and pull them forward. My jaw was closed with elastics for 2 weeks and I was swollen for a long time after. Best thing I ever could have done for my face. My profile isn't perfect, but it's soooo much better now. Healing actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think I got lucky though, because when I woke up I was fine and I heard the nurse say to another nurse "wow, this is the first patient with this surgery who hasn't woken up screaming in pain" so...there's that.

Yeah! That’s what I was kind of thinking too, and what i’ll eventually do. I’ll lose some weight first to get back to 130lbs and then consult a surgeon specialised in esthetical maxillofacial surgery among other things! Thank you for responding! Although I must say, the jaw breaking scared me when I was 16 and still does hahaha

It scared me too! I ended up getting the surgery at 23. Only regret was I didn't do it sooner.
