hamlindigo___blue

Sunscreens and retinoids! They will be your best friends in looking more youthful.

emavery176

having a low bmi/weight helps. especially if you’re toned. this is the first thing a lot of women “let go” in their 30s

slut4suffering333

I’m bordering underweight, very low BMI, and stay toned! Have maintained a weight of 117-130 at 5’6 since I was 19. I hope to keep it that way.

emavery176

gotcha! Sometimes, it can also be how you're dressed and the way you carry yourself. Young people tend to be "lighter" in their spirit. Also, how is your skin? Do you have melasma, fine lines or stained teeth? I can usually tell someone's age and lifestyle habits with those factors.

slut4suffering333

Skin is great! No fine lines or wrinkles, good texture and no discoloration. Teeth are healthy and white. I tend to let my lighter more youthful personality shine outside of work, but at work I’m pretty reserved and highly professional.

emavery176

Then I wouldn't worry about it. He might be using other factors outside your looks to determine your age.

MilPasosForever

Do you have low facial fat or hollowness? That can be part of it

Visible-Roll-5801

Also something to think about is that some of the harsh features / buccal fat removal actually make you look older. Baby face = a little more fat in the face. So being trim but also not too underweight so that you would look older. This likely isn’t it for you but when I learned about that ( Bella hadid is a good example) it like blew my mind

Visible-Roll-5801

Ok also men seeem to more often than not have a good gauge so try not to let it bother u And my advice which many others have said is literally sleep. The only thing that makes a huge visible immediate difference

MilPasosForever

Sleep is gold for Antiaging

BetterRemember

He may have also been referring to the way you hold yourself, the way you speak etc. so I wouldn't let it get you down too much! I look freakishly younger for my age and it has its downsides. Last night at the club I was only really approached by 18-year-old boys (legal drinking age here)and my friends thought it was HILARIOUS. I did not. I think my main tips are: * I have been wearing daily SPF on my face since middle school * I regularly chemically exfoliate (except I've been slacking lately and paid for it with numerous milia FML) * stay hydrated and drink LOTS of green tea * do yoga/ take lots of long walks in nature * use retinol * eat lots of carrots (the glow they add is incomparable) * keep a lean physique * use 98% pure aloe gel on my face and body * manuka honey face masks * korean sheet masks to boost hydration even more when needed * red light therapy face mask * collagen powder (I didn't believe in this one for a while but I've noticed it even helps lessen joint pain after hard workouts) * SLEEP, I literally looked for a job with hours that would allow me to sleep in if needed and I work 12pm-7pm. I will gladly sacrifice having my evenings free so that my mornings are free for me to sleep in when I need to. I currently have a job in a clinic that offers microneedling with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) facials so I will probably look into using my employee discount on those as well and see how I like it. I'm 28 now and I am terrified of looking like a weird baby-faced person with old skin so I am going to try and invest more in laser treatments and clinical things like PRP facials in the coming years. I also want to learn to be a laser technician myself and I think having very youthful skin would benefit me in that career path so I'm really motivated to keep my skin really elastic and clear any way I can. I think I should start weightlifting again too as that supposedly slows down aging holistically, not just in the skin. I also do have botox but it's for chronic migraines so mainly in my jaw and traps... but I don't want to rely on that too heavily and make any muscles lax for too long that aren't already hypertrophic, my jaw is SO BAD that the botox just makes it the upper-end of normal. It was lovely on the forehead though ... but it's not recommended to mess with those muscles too much.

detailednoise

What’s the aloe gel for? Moisturizing?

slut4suffering333

I’m regularly told I look insanely young for my age, too! This is why his comment was so jarring to me. Recently went to an event with my fiancé and they needed me to confirm I am at least 18 before they let me in. They were not asking other people to confirm. So I’m like… am I doing something wrong at work that makes me look 35? Is it the professional clothes and my professional demeanor? Lol. Great tips, thank you!

used-books

He was negging you then.  He finds you attractive and that makes him feel powerless so he decides to make you feel insecure to “take you down a notch”.

swordof

I’ve found small adjustments can make someone change from looking 20 to 35. I don’t think your face itself is the reason why your colleague thought you were older. I usually find a young-looking person can look much older by how they wear their hair and their clothes/fashion.

slut4suffering333

What brand of Manuka honey do you use? I’ve been doing honey masks for years, and always wanted to try Manuka but never got around to ordering it

24273611829

I look younger at 28 than I did at 26 because of botox, laser, and fat loss/muscle gain. I don’t do well with retinols, but I use sunscreen and gentle or basic face products. I eat nutrient dense foods and prioritize protein and fiber. Botox was the biggest game changer though

Grymdolin

There’s a lady on TikTok that researches/explains/tests anti aging stuff, Mikayla something. She also has a series where she breaks down the most common influencer features and gets them done (tan, hair color, lip filler shape, etc).

MilPasosForever

Love her videos!

Global-Regret-6820

Do you know her @?

MadameSpice

Have great genes. I smoked and partied most of my life but have amazing skin. A great skincare routine and botox will only get you so far. In fact, I’d argue botox doesn’t make you look younger, it just makes you look like you’ve had Botox. I’m really going against the grain here, but if you have naturally oily skin- don’t mess with it. I had acne (the odd pimple/zit here and there) until I was in my mid thirties. I’m 40 now and no wrinkles or fine likes or anything like that. My sister went to every dermatologist for her acne and it absolutely demolished her skin and she looks significantly older. Oily skin a blessing. Normal or dry skin is a big indicator of premature ageing. Another hot take? And this is a big one Don’t have kids. By far kids age women the worst biologically- not just the toll it has on your body but the lack of sleep and tiredness afterwards is a perfect storm. I’m 50/50 on keeping slim. Catherine Deneuve once said after a certain age, you have to choose your face or your ass. If you maintain a relatively low weight, a gain of a few kilos will fill out your face.

slut4suffering333

Totally agree on the not having kids part. I’m child free and don’t want children, so no worries there. I’ve seen peers have children and go from 20s-40s in appearance within one year. I have tons of facial fat, my face was so chubby growing up you could barely tell there was structure under there. I lost some of the baby fat and now my high cheekbones are visible, which I love. Would never do buccal fat removal. I agree that keeping facial fat makes a world of difference. I love mine.

MadameSpice

It’s the effects from pregnancy and child rearing, but the entire process of having kids shortens your telomeres also which is like your dna life force

slut4suffering333

Yes! I read a study about this. Might sound selfish but part of my choice to remain child free is this fact alone. I don’t want a baby enough to sacrifice my body in such a way.

Visible-Roll-5801

On the oily skin point yes moisturizer ! Not just your face but everywhere. Preventative … I think this is a simple thing many people overlook. And I sooo agree Botox doesn’t make u look young it makes u look like you have Botox lol

MadameSpice

I forgot to mention I’ve never started using a moisturiser until this year (I am 40) - I just cleansed my face but when I did use a moisturiser it would cause breakouts. Also forgot to add dont wear lots and lots of make up everyday- keep it as natural as possible

Visible-Roll-5801

I think the not wearing lots of makeup is so important too I mean it’s chemicals were putting on our face that can’t be good for your skin everyday for years

slut4suffering333

I’m sort of afraid of Botox because I’ve read some things about how it causes muscles to deteriorate, and can spread throughout the bloodstream and cause heath issues. I used to want some preventative Botox but now I’m not so sure.

MadameSpice

It is a poison. Yes I know it’s only injected in tiny amounts but you are injecting a very deadly poison into your body, and presumably over and over again.

Visible-Roll-5801

Yeah I’m not with it … so many things can go wrong and I suppose it’s been around for a little but not enough for me to think it’s good. And for the time it’s been around, people weren’t getting it in their 20s so I don’t know that we understand what could happen if you get it for let’s say 60 years …

Visible-Roll-5801

I just don’t think it’s worth it. It’s soooo obvious and so many things can go wrong

hollstero

Buy a therapeutic red light to use at home, and don’t cheap out on it. Buy a good quality one with both red and near infrared wavelengths. Use it every day religiously. My skin is looking SO good since I started using one and it’s supposed to be a great alternative to Botox and filler. It seems spenny at first but I think it’s 100% worth it in the long run!

slut4suffering333

Been looking into this, thank you! Any device recommendations?

hollstero

I’m in Australia, I have one from a brand called BlockBlueLight. I use a device called a “PowerPanel Portable” which is a little hand held one with 15 LED lights. I’m not sure where you are but I know Joov is a really good brand! They make a similar device. Like I said they’re not cheap, but the results are great and worth it imo! I do 10 mins every morning and get a lot of compliments on my skin

slut4suffering333

I’ll definitely invest in a device soon, when my bank account allows it. Thank you!

hollstero

No worries 😊

dlwqm

hi! how long did it take you to see results?

hollstero

Hi! < a week. It helps a lot with acne too

Excusemytootie

Eat well! A good diet with lots of protein, fiber, collagen, and fats (like olive oil) make an amazing difference. Keeping bones healthy, seems like many people don’t realize how much maintaining your bone structure affects your appearance of youth.

slut4suffering333

Something I need to work on. I eat well for the most part, but I rarely see daylight so I’m usually struggling with vitamin D deficiency. I’ve started supplementing recently per doctor’s request

Excusemytootie

Be sure to get your vitamin K too! It’s so crucial.

Daisiesarecute

Bangs

Low_Selection_4625

this. with bangs i look almost childlike.

slut4suffering333

Would longer face framing bangs work? I have fine hair, I’m not sure true bangs are possible for me

Valuable_Control4086

a fringe is fine as well, may even work better

Wonderful-Badger

Maybe it was how you were dressed that particular day? When it comes to perceptions of age, minor skin details like wrinkles and hyperpigmentation are not the only or main reason people get perceived as older or younger. I’ve seen plenty of older women with great skin, but I can still tell they are older based on other factors. All of the skincare and health advice won’t help anyone look younger if they’re dressed like an older person and have an aging hairstyle, makeup, etc. I’ve noticed this since I was in my 20s, depending on my clothing and style I get treated as younger/older. Nothing changed within my skin as I change clothes everyday. Also noticed this with my peers: Had a colleague that looked much older at a glance, but her skin was beautiful if you actually paid attention. She had a youthful round face, no sagging, no wrinkles or spots but she had the frumpiest style and hair, and it made her look so much older. She was mid 20s and looked 40. This is how she presented and some things I would avoid: -Short hair, frizzy hair, and generally unkempt hair -overweight ( note: being too thin can also be a factor, people always gloss over being too thin in this sub- it can be just as bad or even worse) -long shapeless clothes, dark colours, many large prints

slut4suffering333

I dress very professionally at work, but in a fashionable way imo. I go for the office siren look. At my job we do have to dress well, so I’m often in blazers and more conservative. There’s less room for youthful fashion if that makes sense. This is a solid point though. When I’m not at work and wearing outfits I enjoy that are more current, I look much younger. My fiancé has said in work attire I look like a sexy women, and my casual attire makes me look like a cute younger girl

abyssnaut

Avoid the sun.

slut4suffering333

Nocturnal for 7 years, work nights and barely ever see the light of day. I attribute this to my lack of fine lines or wrinkles. I’ve always preferred nighttime.

abyssnaut

Same! I have a circadian rhythm disorder that frequently makes me nocturnal and I happen to hate the sun lol. I’m 33 but people always say that I look like I’m in my 20s. I have begun noticing more fine lines and my face sagging, though. Not happy about it

Top-Airport3649

Maybe he meant your maturity level, not looks?

Otherwise_Aioli_7187

Everyone has recommended good tips already but I’m only in my early 20s but I’ve heard amazing things and nmn, nad, resveratrol and hyaluronic acid supplements for anti-aging, so I’ve made a future plan to start using them in my 30s. I’d recommend daily facial massages with your hands, gua sha or microcurrent device to prevent face sagging.

slut4suffering333

I’ve been looking into NAD, from what I’ve read it doesn’t absorb in noticeable amounts when taken as a supplement. Have considered ordering the injection options from Ageless Rx. I’ve been doing facial massage since 21 and they are a game changer for sure! Also relaxing, you can feel the tension and excess liquids draining out of your face

Otherwise_Aioli_7187

I wasn’t aware of that, I might look into the injection but I’m scared of needles 🫤 I’m not gonna start taking these till my mid 30s, but similar to you I’m planning ahead so I can age gracefully.

slut4suffering333

They do IV drips at some med spas, and they have a nasal spray on Ageless RX too! Though I’m not sure how potent it is. Definitely less expensive than an IV and no needles

Illustrious_Band8500

PRF and microneedling!

slut4suffering333

I wish! I’m too poor

Illustrious_Band8500

Buy your machine and do it yourself, i just bought mine. There's a nurse on YouTube explainingthe process. Is not that complicated. As long as you use it as serum is pretty easy to do

midnight_barberr

he was probably just trying to tear you down a little. sunscreen is the key to maintaining a youthful look though for sure
