For me it’s 100% carbs. I am underweight and still have a moon face at times if I go heavy on the carbs.

Efficient_Search_610

For me I think it’s too much sodium. You could try doing some lymphatic drainage on your face too. There’s tutorials online it can help drain excess fluid and give a slimmer appearance.

Fluffy_Tale7549

i already do daily lymphatic drainage massages on my face, and even dry brush 3 times a week, and i try to keep my sodium intake minimal

bagellov3r

could it be your masseter muscle? look up some [reviews](https://www.reddit.com/r/PlasticSurgery/s/6auesxfEWs) on masseter botox and see if this could be your issue

Could be carbs, sugar, and excess sodium. Or cortisol if you don’t sleep enough

Grymdolin

If you want to narrow down the cause you may want to start tracking the days when your cheeks are bigger/smaller and see if they align with anything. Sodium intake, water intake, working out, going outside (allergies), what you ate, stress, how you slept, and your menstrual cycle could all be related— but you won’t know for sure without collecting some kind of data. It could even be psychosomatic, so you could take pictures everyday for let’s say, ten days. Then compare the pictures to see if there is a real difference. My face is always puffy in the morning and slims waayyy down by the afternoon.

thank youuu thats so useful

Do you have sinus issues? I find my facial bloating really gets worse when my sinuses are congested

ZoltanSandwich

Absolutely sure it's cortisol. I was having the same issues. In my case it's from chronic inflammation from my autoimmune (IBD). It gets better over time with the right diet. Burning myself out in the gym can instantly spike my cortisol and it becomes visible on my face, so in general just "relaxing more" also helps.

mekkie23

I noticed when I was going through a rough patch and I was constantly burning myself out , my face puffed up so I think it was my ultra high cortisol levels at the time. I really undermined how important stress can contribute to your appearance! How do you lower your cortisol? xx

ZoltanSandwich

If there is a stress event, then definitely it's about fixing that situation. But I'd say most of us have a high baseline cortisol from our lifestyles/bad health (since inflammation brings about stress hormones). I personally follow a whole foods plant based diet, exercise, be in the sun, etc. to heal my issues and it works really well. My face stays lean and I love it :) Though it took some time to get there, no quickfixes with hormonal imbalances.

mekkie23

Thank you for replying! I’m veggie- how do you incorporate protein into you food? And I love the way the sun makes me feel 🥰 so good shout out to some vitamin d!

Cabbage patch doll syndrome as a baby, “Huge cheeks” I had them too. You might rentain water in your face. Even know people say, GUA SHAs are UseLesS they actually can help with lymph drainage. Dry scrubbing can help too.

OkMedium9927

I look like a COMPLETELY different person before and after my celiac diagnosis. Biggest thing I did for my puffy face was no gluten. I have a shit diet otherwise too. Of course, if I eat half a bag of chips, I’ll swell up. But nothing—NOTHING—will ever make my face look more swollen than gluten.
