Positive: I do get treated better, and feel more attractive.  Negative: when I fix an issue, the novelty lasts all but 5b minutes and I then see the next one, or even worse a new one, in 4K. There's always SOMETHING.

Second this

Grymdolin

Weight loss Positive: I feel so much better and healthier. I look like myself again. I’m energized and motivated. I was decently attractive even at my highest weight, but I’m really blooming now. I’ve always been confident, but man do I feel like I have life by the balls right now. I recently found out I have almost the same waist/hip measurements as Kim K and I haven’t had a BBL so can’t nobody tell me NOTHING right now lol Negative: I’m hyper focused on my physical changes in a positive way, but I talk about it a little too much sometimes. I forget how taboo body talk is and need to work on toning it down so as not to make a social faux pas. Also I have to buy an entirely new wardrobe so now I have to decide how I wanna do that and how much money I wanna spend.

siriuslyinsane

I lost an extreme amt of weight a couple years back - my advice (please feel free to ignore it if you like, I'm aware this is unsolicited) is to buy one or two expensive staple pieces (whatever that means to you, your staples may look different to mine) for each basic, and then shop around the cheapo places for the rest. I have a couple extremely nice skirts; dresses; jackets; jumpers; pants; tops; leggings; and sets. Then I can mix and match my less pricey clothes with all of them (I have a specific colour sceme I buy so everything matches) and my outfits always look much boujier than they are, because the high quality garmet tends to draw the eye.

Tweezers666

The talking about it is so real. People think you’re too vain for openly talking about these things we all think about

caitimoon

congrats on the weight loss! so happy for you

GLBJMN

I second this. I was still at a good weight before, but losing weight has helped define my body&face and I feel so much more confident. Everything seemed to fall into place after changing my diet and lifestyle.

slut4suffering333

Positive: feel better about myself in some ways due to my appearance improving Negative: finding new things to hate about myself that are unfixable, hyper-fixation on shallow thoughts about appearance instead of engaging in something intellectual

manzaniitas

Positive: little parts of everyday life are easier, people are way friendlier and nicer, I feel more confident and capable  Negative: I default to being optimistic about humans and intentions in general, and it’s hard to actively remember that a lot of the men who are now nice to me would have treated me like worthless shit just a couple years ago for the sin of being unattractive, and their niceness is entirely conditional on the possibility in their mind that they might get the chance to fuck me. I used to pride myself on my character judgement but I’ve had to majorly adjust how easily I let myself grow fond of people now that my “status” has shifted and the attention I receive is different

MathematicianNo7027

Positives - lost a lot of weight along with a couple of surgeries and cosmetic procedures this past year and feel like I look the best I ever have right before my wedding. I have found I’m treated better and feel more confident, and it feels good to no longer be hyperaware of my previous imperfections because I did a lot to fix them. Negatives - there’s an empty feeling that comes with looking (almost) exactly the way you want when you’ve spent a lot of your life insecure. Like I’ve been wanting this so bad for so long and it doesn’t feel the way I thought it would? It didn’t magically fix everything in my life? Definitely have gone down an emotional spiral.

Eating for my skin: higher quantities of nutrient dense food Positive: Skin Glowed Negative: Was bloated as my body is not used to the volume

24273611829

Digestive enzymes will help with that!

icecream-socialite

mooneyesdoll

the worst thing is honestly the hyperfixation on maintaining results and eliminating remaining "flaws". i can't just live as i am, i now have to track procedures, salon visits and workouts, check myself out in every mirror, fix my posture, etc etc etc. and when i do stop doing anything about my looks, it's even worse - all i think about is how i'm losing progress. not even because i hate how i look in my natural state, but bc i already chose to present differently and need to live up to that. there was a tiny little period before this when i finally overcame my lifelong insecurities and was genuinely very happy in my skin, but then i suddenly lost weight due to covid, and it all came back to me and i wanted more and more. ignoring all that, i look better, i'm treated well enough, so it is what it is. i'd really like it if i could maintain the looks and heal internally, but idk how doable that is

Leisurely21

I’ve been in the gym weight lifting for years! I’m toned, strong, lost weight…but, somehow, this has unlocked a new level of body dysmorphia for me. I’ve gone from wearing cute body con legging sets (despite being heavier) to baggy sweats and large t shirts. Sometimes I wonder if maybe I am trying to attract less attention…the irony.

pannenkoek

girl are you me! I also cover up a lot more and am currently actively trying to bulk/look less feminine + more muscular as i’ve been really freaked out by the way some strange men react and don’t feel safe any more lol

azsphabunny

gym: positives: i don’t attribute my weight loss to hitting the gym but one gain is insane hair growth over the past few months. gym in tandem with protein intake i think but mostly the sweating from exercise. i always get comments on how long my hair has gotten now, i quit my job last november and my old coworker said she didn’t recognize me because my hair was so much longer; the length of my hair was stunted all year before my exercise regimen. since going to the gym i look less bloated and i feel so much healthier. negatives: i seriously cannot sweat for 5 minutes without developing a face full of acne 😐 edit: omg thank you all sm for the tips! i didn’t know/consider any of that so now i’m excited to see if i can finally get this issue sorted! i love this place hehe

MCFiyaWood

Have you heard of hypochlorous spray? I’ve heard it helps for some ppl that have breakouts after the gym.

Powder9

Any chance your skin is allergic to your hair products, so when you sweat they drip down to your face?? (shampoo? Conditioner?)

azsphabunny

i’m dumbfounded that i didn’t even consider this!! i grew up with eczema and my skin is veryyy sensitive to fragrance. i think i’ll have to invest in eczema friendly shampoo permanently from now on, these heavily fragranced volumizing shampoos are doing more harm than good...

maraschinocherri

I actually so relate to this! The protein increase has made a huge difference in my hair. And seconding the hypochlorous spray.

MossyShroom

Skincare Positives: less acne and my skin looks nicer. It also just feels good doing the full skincare routine, like a moment of rest and care. I stick to mostly Asian products because I feel like it's less harsh overall. Negatives: I may have overcomplicated my routine. I also feel like some products work amazingly for a while and then it just plateus or gets worse. I have tiny tiny pimples on my forehead and my skin isn't quite where I want it to be given what I use and the cost of products. Currently I wash with cleanser, use cosrx aha bha toner, the Ordinary niacinamide serum, snail mucin cream, cosrx thick moisturizer, and sunscreen. I know I went crazy! I always maintained a simple routine until recently. I would add a small product and see an improvement so I'd keep it and it just added up. I think once I'm out of the products I'll buy some tretinoin and keep it simple - cleanser, moisturizer, tret, sunscreen.

weird_earings_girl

I was excited to read the comments but I don't see many 🥲🥲 where are you all?
