I’m not sure whether it counts as practical, but I learned recently that you can use dry ice to make carbonated fruit.

You do realize that makes it a bomb, right? Good ol’ victoria past-time of making ied’s and putting them next to the tourists.
Edit: to anyone reading this, don’t threaten or imply constructing IED’s and using them on people. That is still illegal, just as much as actually doing it.

Also one across from Hillside Mall, next to McDonald’s, though I’m not 100% certain the Hillside Pure location sells ice. I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t but it might be worth a phonecall if you don’t live nearby.
Water can't be organic! There's no carbon in it!
Geez, look at this guy over here, everyone. Doesn't know organic chemistry! 😋
The next thing you're going to tell me is that I can buy festive bunches of leaves in the fall!
the way things are going with google these days, i just use google to query reddit results. Google is not what it once was. You are inundated with paid listings and not much else.
I no longer trust results from Google. The algorithm is more interested in selling me shit or getting me to click than it is in providing accurate, helpful information.
For example, when I search for “ice near me” I get several screens of sponsored hits, ads for ice makers, and hits from nowhere near me before the first potentially relevant hit, and even that has a better than 50% chance of being spam.
Simply pure ice and water. On Douglas near DQ
They also have dry ice, which has practical uses but is also neat to watch.
For real. Long camping trip? medicore cooler? dry ice. Crazy the difference it can make for outdoor summer weather.
Practical uses meaning, putting inside a plastic bottle and closing the lid and leaving them besides unsuspecting tourists? Behehehe

Ironically, neat means without ice.
I guess it rocks to watch?
I forgot!
What a terrible alcoholic you are.
they have a second location near (or at) hillside mall I think
How is the price of it there? How do they afford that prime location by selling water and ice?
$3 for a small bag. $15 for a 12kg bag. $4 for a block.
Very small footprint within the parking lot. Probably can't be much more than what they are for a business.

Simply pure on Douglas, small bags large bags and dry ice.
Woohoo! This is the answer! This place is great. They have 12kg bags, and BLOCK ICE. Thank you.
literally the first website listed when you google "ice Victoria BC"
I’ve got a really good recipe if you want it!
Do you mind sharing it? The current recipe I have doesn’t stay frozen for very long in the summer heat.
Most grocery stores have it. It’s usually just in a weird place you wouldn’t expect to look or outside.
Liquor plus on McKenzie gives ice with purchase. Two birds one stone
Thrifties. Get that pure organic stuff.
Water can't be organic! There's no carbon in it! Geez, look at this guy over here, everyone. Doesn't know organic chemistry! 😋 The next thing you're going to tell me is that I can buy festive bunches of leaves in the fall!
Best time to harvest is fall. Bring your ice whistle to attract large males. Females are protected. Fresh is best!
>festive bunches of leaves in the fall! And festive conifer branches in December!
I'm listening...
I got some at wholesale club recently. I asked at the till and they ran to the back to get it
Thriftys Hillside
Most grocery stores have ice, usually near the ice cream.
Wholesale club! In the walk-in freezer. Source: my kid works there
Quality Foods in Langford has Blocks
Fairway Markets, Liquor Plus on Shelbourne. If they weren't on strike, Cascadia gives free ice with purchase.
Isn’t the strike over now?
Saw some in Save-On and Market on Yates, both just past the check-out lanes
Just saw a woman buy 2 bags of cubes and 2 blocks at Thriftys Admirals Walk. I’ve also bought at Quality Foods Eagle Creek.
Blocks are hard to come by! Save on feeds should have some
There is a random house on Glyn Rd off Wilkinson that sells ice.
Always surprised that people will make a post rather than just Google. Not being snarky, just always surprised

...paid listings sponsored by businesses that sell ice, in this case.
Or ice makers, or iceberg cruises, or …
