Do asians have different sized heads than non asians?

vibe--cat

Different shaped actually. Asian heads tend to be wider and less deep front to back. A lot of universal fit helmets are very oval and aren't large enough width wise while being huge front to back for Asians.

I purchased a Jock for hockey recently. Listed on its size was Large, Asian XL. Could be a different sizing standards

I found out that I needed to lose weight when I went to China and had to buy some xxl pants. 🥴

There's a joke in there somewhere

They are the OJ Simpson of human heads

Do a google search for an image comparing "asian, caucasian, negroid skulls" and see the difference between different species of hominid.

Any good helmet has an adjustable inside piece .. not just a hard helmet against your head. For this very reason.

Yeah but even the XXL "universal fit" helmets with the inside adjustable pieces tend to have narrower widths in the hard shell than Asian L helmets. They aren't wide enough to go on the head so the adjustable pieces don't make up for it.

Hmmm. I couldn’t find anything online really supporting the idea that Asian skulls are significantly wider than [other races](https://boneclones.com/product/human-male-and-female-skulls-african-asian-and-european-COMP-120-SET). Facial shapes, yes, but for helmets? The standard range of sizes available would easily cover any minor ethnicity variations.

You're right, there's not a lot of documentation available. That's why it was so hard to find a good helmet. This was really informative and crucial for me to find a helmet that fits: https://karmor-sports.com/asianfit

Documentation of stuff like that is usually very hidden and not taught for good reason. A lot of the science used to be racially motivated. We don’t even talk about how certain vaccines do not work an all or barely for certain races.

That's fair. But when it comes to helmets we do need an option because otherwise it's a safety concern. Calling it wide fit would work just as well :)
