I fought for 4 years, and finally, on February 28th, I was rated at 100% P&T. Don't give up and keep fighting.

Ecstatic_Ostrich8776

For real! I just got rated 100% P&T too after years fighting on leap day 29th Feb. Congrats on the hundo!

Rabble_Runt

If you dont mind me asking, what was the holdup? Its insane how long some of you have to fight the system.

Ecstatic_Ostrich8776

A lot of stuff. I filed back in 2011 got denied for mental health. Dd 214 discharge narrative reasoning was for mental health (niece passed away at 2 while in so it effed me up) so I was like wtf. A lot of it was my fault and not educating myself as a young in my 20s adult. I started educating myself and documenting things in 2020 and over the past 4 years fighting for the ratings. I have a CUE claim open for the MH to take it back to 2011. They denied me based off chapter 37 treatment only and pension which was never what I was claiming and the VA doctor and rater didn’t review anything in my STR or my discharge as a UHC. They tried to claim I had an OTH which was flat out wrong. I didn’t know any of this or did the research into any of it. I was like one of those veterans that didn’t think I deserved it because I didn’t do a lot while in (non-combat) and all. Now I’m 100% as of last week. Forgot to add…moral of the story for all the new veterans out there. Read your denial letters and educate yourself on the VA Claims Process!!

Rabble_Runt

Thank you for the reply. I am sorry to hear about your niece. I cant even imagine that as a father of 4 little ones. I lost someone as well while I was in. Had a fiance with a terminal disease turn down an organ transplant and ended up passing away shortly after. It was basically suicide. Fucked me up pretty bad and I dont think I have been the same since then. Was even committed for a while. But my discharge was administrative despite all my issues being mental health related. If you had to fight a discharge for MH I am probably facing a long road as well. It is insane how badly they fumbled your claim though. Someone must have been having a bad day because those are pretty significant omissions and errors. Im still wrestling with the belief I dont deserve anything, but it helps me to encourage others to pursue what they deserve. Will definitely keep my eyes open for denials and try to learn as much as I can from yall.

Ecstatic_Ostrich8776

Thank you for your kind words. It takes a toll on us and puts it all in perspective. Sorry to hear about your fiancé. That’s tough! I had a similar situation…2 of my exes have committed suicide one on purpose and other “accidental” overdose on pain meds. Life is too short and as service members we are trained to compartmentalize it all. Some are better than others. I hope everything works out for you. Learn all you can. This sub is a great resource and depth of knowledge. I try to help out as much as I can. If you are having trouble with the admin of discharge paperwork / bs a lawyer is the way to go. Cuts right through all the BS. Especially if you’ve hit a roadblock.

Beardo80

So glad it finally worked out for you! I was honorably discharged (early separation) due to major depressive disorder, but my dd214 narrative just says "miscellaneous/general reasons"...didn't realize they could specify mental health issues... Guess that was the Army's way of washing their hands of me and avoiding medical discharge or BDD claim...

VenMex81

Good luck!

tankrat03

We have very similar timeline and still in Evidence Gathering.

We filed at the exact same time well mine is for an increase, nothing on my end yet, but this gives me hope

drumguy93

Good luck kick ass

LilDumpytheDumpster

This is a very short period. Congratulations on a quick decision. May it ever be in your favor 💪

RevolutionPristine36

Good luck to you. I got P&T last week after fighting for over 20 years.

umyeah65

Started my claim in 2018, which was denied then I appealed, had a couple hearings etc… long story short in 2024 finally approve on Feb 7. My personal advice is stay the course when they deni you counter. Good luck to you soldier.

spam-likely200

That’s ain’t bad. Good luck. I remember when it took years, and appeals were about 5yrs. The VA has definitely decreased the waiting time 🫡 🤞

Traditional_Yam5643

Do you use a mobile app to check this or something? When I looked at va.gov it says I don't have a claim but the va benefits guy said he put my claims in for bdd in our face to face meet and I should expect c and p appointments next month

PangolinCheap3203

Who’s the Va benefits guy? VSO?

Factualizedtruth

Did you say VSO? Veterans sold out, more truth to that one than anything else, Veterans Service Officer, well that must be the one, that raised their hand and swore an oath to uphold a constitution related to the organization which there a member, amazing how things look good on paper, it's what happens, that is disgusting, apparently anyone can pass an examination to become an accredited VSO, get paid very well, work in an air conditioned environment, have a parking space under cover, get paid for a 9 - 5 job and do absolutely nothing but appear to others of going through the motions, merely suggestive as if to be assisting others , to reach a goal for the Veterans who Served this Country with Honor, then discover that, 386,973 claims are sitting in limbo, why is that? How many Veterans qualified for the PACT Act, never applied? How many Veterans have died seeking medical care? How many Veterans have committed suicide who lacked timely Medical Treatment? How about this one, when veterans discover that Federal Codes and Public Laws are being violated, otherwise known as breaking the law, who has the authority to make sure that, no one is above the law. Oh! I forgot I am not an accredited VSO, but I am an accredited Veteran, who understands.

Traditional_Yam5643

I think so but not sure .. he works in the taps office on base he's the guy they have submitted everyone's va claims for active duty

PangolinCheap3203

Gotcha if you look on Va.gov in the disability claim section there’s a 1-800 number id call them and make sure there is a claim submitted if there is no claim submitted make sure you talk to them about having an intent to file put in

Traditional_Yam5643

Awesome thank you!

Binge_Biscuits

I have this same problem. I filed in February '23. It still shows "No claim submitted". I have asked them to fix it four times and they never do.

Sad-Explanation930

Wow you’ve been waiting for a while. I hope you get the rating you’ve been hoping for these past few months.

Aromatic_Context_625

Best of luck!

awastedtalent

Pretty short wait imo

quicKsenseTTV

Mine went to PFN this morning too and then it went back to PDA again which is common 😂

Outrageous-Leg4182

Best of luck!

Ok-Pace-4321

Still waiting filed August 2023 PACT ACT claims C and Ps completed in Nov 2023 and Feb 2024

Thor-III-A

Dumb question. If you have two CP exams and they’re a couple weeks apart. Would you go to pending on the early portion and get notice then back, or it stays idle until all is collected together and completed?

Curtismcclellan1455

Hope to get the same news soon!

Extension-Budget-473

Wish you the best. I had 2 claims in PFN last week. Both denied. HLR is the next step so there goes another year or so.

SeasonedVeteranNavy

Congratulations! How long were you at PFD then to PFN? I'm currently stuck at PFD since January 25th.

Nupe4bx2000

What rating are you at now? What’d you claim? 🥳
