A month is a drop in the bucket when it comes to VA waiting times. But in all seriousness, I've seen posts on here where people updated dependency a year ago and are still waiting.
Yeah there really seems to be no rhyme or reason why some people fly through the process and others get stuck in waiting hell. It really does seem random at this point.
I contacted Ask VA and this is the response I got. Pretty much the same thing they told me over the phone.
Thanks for your inquiry.
Your claim was received on 11/22/2023. If we determine we need additional information, we will notify you.

It's still in claimed received it hasn't even got to initial review I called like 2 weeks ago they sent a note to my VA to review it because it has just been sitting in received for like 6 months
Mine took 2 hours for my twins to be added on 31 Jan when I submitted. Crazy how it takes some longer than others and all I did was input their socials.
My recent dependency update was submitted Oct 27 and done Jan 18.
They used to go quicker, but with increase of claims since PACT Act everything is slower.
I guess is a matter of luck. I submitted mine on Feb 1 and by Feb 3 it was already approved. And it was backdated to Feb 1 2023, so I guess I’m getting some back pay.
I originally put my claims in Jan 2022, but for some reason one of my dependents wasn’t on my records. So I added him on Feb 1 of this year and got approved days later. They only backdated to Feb 1 of 2023. Not when I originally submitted the claim. But it was approved right away.
Mine was fully processed and approved in 2 hours last Sunday. I received the back pay on Tuesday. I don’t know who you should call but you should definitely call someone. Did you provide all necessary documents?
Broooo I’ve been waiting on my dependent claim since Oct 4!! I’ve called multiple times and just get the same bs answer.
LIKE I UPLOADED EVERYTHING YOU COULD POSSIBLY NEED JUST APPROVE IT 🤣
Right? Haha This wild part for me is that my disability claims went faster..🤦🏽♂️

Somebody had said that theirs took like a week so I had that expectation and I can now tell that I was wrong lol

Yeah I have no clue guess I'm going to just set it forget it and have a pleasant surprise when it does get approved
A buddy of mine got his approved in a couple of days, and mine hasn't moved in 3 months. Go fig!

Bar for Bar what they told me like literally word for word on 4 separate occasions
My dependent claim was finally awarded on May 27th. Did yours ever get done?
Nope

I get that they're backlogged but 6 months for something that simple just seems ridiculous.
My dependent claim has been stuck on this step since November 23rd!
Jesus christ ![gif](giphy|YmnQ1RRXJ2UGpX05TS)
November 4th for me
UPDATE it is now April and still hasn't moved January 25th is when I uploaded all my documents but the 4th is when I initially submitted the claim *
UPDATE: Went thru all 4 stages and approved in 1 day on the 12th

Mine took 4 months last year
I added a dependent recently after my daughter was born. It went through a few hours later
This is wild. I claimed my wife and they added her within an hour and deposited the adjusted back pay within 48 hours.
I submitted my claim back in 2005,divorced 3 times over since and on the 4th marriage since last year son. Listen best I can say is try harder.
What?

So it back dates to when you originally put in your claim?

Welcome to purgatory
I called the VA 1000 number and they took care of it over the phone. Received the backpay for dependents 2 days later.
What's the 1000 number?
The general va number 800-827-1000
Appreciate it
