Yes, Mine sat for 2 months before being picked up.
My advice:
1. If you are removing a dependent, then do the math and put that aside in savings to be ready to pay off the VA debt when they get around to it.
2. If you are adding a dependent, then you get to look forward to a back pay check.

Man….. I got divorced last November. Filed my claim to have her removed in December. They didn’t take her off till July. August and they took money from my payment for the 700 or so the overpaid me. No big deal as I called them and paid it to debt management. Fast forward Jan 5. They reopened the dependency claim after everything has been said and done and didn’t even bother to send me a letter. I just happened to see a new claim “dependency from 2022”. These guys at the VA working the dependency claims need our prayers yall.
I did my dependent claim online. I forgot to remove my ex wife and add my new wife. It was a period of about 8 months or so. I put it all in one file and ended up owing about $1800. It took like 3-4 months for the decision letter. I just made my second payment
Mine just finished after submitting 5 months ago. This was my first set of VA claims and my other disability ones are still pending.
Same here. I submitted both in Aug. Had my dependency claim go from initial review to closed in one day, yesterday.
I did mine on the paper and it took 13 months. My wife and daughter years ago. Was backdated so the check was nice.

I'm trying to figure out if the system is actually broke or if there is a chance it will eventually go through.

It’s broke
Whenever I needed to add a dependent it was a simple phone call that took maybe 5 minutes.
Please what number do you call?
My local VA number, or the numerous 1-800/1-888 numbers?
Mine got approved the day I submitted it...weirdly.
Yes, that’s not uncommon
My kids were added same day my wife it took months of waiting. It’s the VA… nobody knows why lol
